A caged Bird

Diane sighed.

She had just finished tending to herself and was resting on the bed, lost in thoughts.

"The Alpha hates women" she repeated the words on repeat in her head, as she rolled on the bed, her mind was drifting off again.

'What could had ever happened to him?'

She wondered.

The door knobs twisted open and the one she dreaded most walked in.

She shut her eyes tightly, hoping he would disappear but she knew better than to pray to the moon goddess, if the moon goddess answered prayers, her father would not have died at the mercy of the Evergreen pack. She slowly opened her eyes, she did not want to be subjected to his will.

They exchanged brief eyes contact, a little moment yet with a great effect on them both, their bonding was strong but their hatred was stronger.

"When everything is over you will wish you never were born" Ian said to her with rage in his tone and in his expression, he had been angry when he found out that his mate was from the pack who waged war against his pack and claimed the life of his father. He decided that they both would suffer.

"I already wish I wasn't" she said back at him, that was the first time she had dared to do so.

"Why don't you just kill me?" She asked, she did not want to cower underneath him or fear him.

"Is it fun that way?" He asked with a smirk as he slowly approached the bed, she sat up as she watched him approach her, she had admitted long ago in her heart that he was extremely handsome, the way the curls of his platinum hair bounced on his face was almost ethereal, she might had wished they met each other on better terms, a lone tear rolled down her cheek, this was a deadly combination of attraction and hatred.

He crothed down till he was a bit lower than her. He grabbed the sides of her cheeks harshly, she turned but he did not let go.

"I would stoop this low to ensure that you and your pack pay for everything you took from me". He said in breaths.

"And what your pack took from me?" Diane asked as the tears filled her eyes, Ian hated seeing the tears in her eyes but it was like a cloud had covered his emotions and he could see nothing else than hurting her.

"I am glad that I'm the only one you can hurt" she gritted her teeth, as a little smile formed on her lips. He looked deep into her blue eyes, he could see the relieve in her eyes when she saod those words.

"So you are the sacrificial lamb" Ian laughed letting go of her face.

"Your people let you go once they receive my threat didn't they?"

"Believe whatever it is you wish to" Diane replied, marrying him had been her choice because it was her who received the threat he had sent to her pack.

"If you believe that you are the one I can hurt them you are wrong, you are nothing but a trap to get the one who would walk the end of the earth to find you" He chuckled.

Diane felt lost for a second, getting her was just a means to getting to Luke.

"They say mental fear is the greatest fear, and emotionally pain hurts most" He smiled.

Diane's expression changed drastically.

"You are a monster!!" She screamed but he kept laughing.

"The moment he steps into this pack to save you, I will claim his life" Ian said calmly as he stared into her eyes.

Diane could feel the fear creeping underneath her skin as she visualized everything Ian said, even the thought alone was scary.

"You cannot just kill a member of another pack" Diane said mostly to reassure herself that he couldn't, deep down she knew he could, the agreement both packs reached to end the war was a treat that allowed then to end the life of any member of the other pack who was caught trespassing.

"Oh yes I can.." Ian replied

"You are the daughter of a Beta you ought to know this much" he continued.

"You weren't killed the day you boldly walked into my pack" She deadpanned.

"Well it's not like those termite could do as much as hurt a hair on my head.." He started.

"..but you trespassed my lands first, even as much as to spend a month here" he said. It took her a while to finally realized that her pack had no leaverage over him because she had trespassed first, but if Luke was to walk in here he would kill him off.

"So be good and comply or heads will drop" Ian smiled as he stood up.

Diane was still lost. It was here fault, everything was her fault. The tears that had formed in her eyes over the period of the conversation began to fall, drops by drops, she could feel her chest become heavy as her tears continued.

"You are a Monster!!" She screamed at him from behind and he laughed, the beauty of her eyes had become soiled by it's redness.

"It's no surprise your subjects live fear" she ducked her head in the sheets as she cried like a child, Ian laughed on hearing her words.

"Watching you cry like this, over another man, don't you think it will hurt my feelings" he mocked. Truly he was jealous, she was his mate afterall.

'Please Moon goddess, please don't ever let Luke set his foots on this ground, please I would do anything' she prayed as she cried.

'Please save his life' she prayed, she knew very well that Luke would come if he heard any news about her, by now he would had figure out that she was no longer in the pack.

'Please do something, if you wish to take someone take me, it's all my fault..' Her prayers were cut short when she heard the door bang shut, as if that was all that could happen, the locks clicked shut bringing her to a similar realization that she was going to be a caged bird again
