Chapter three

Amelia let out a shaky sigh to ease herself from the tension weighing on her. It was the beginning of lectures, and she has already arrived where her first class on the timetable is taken, although she's a bit sad since the person who ended up being their coordinator was Kelly Roland, and she knew however that a rough thorny path is what is ahead of her.

The class was easy since it was just an ordinary introduction to their course subject. There weren't eyes on her, all eyes were fixated on the female lecturer speaking including hers.

She heard a buzz on her phone, and saw it was a message from an unknown number. She clicked it, and blinked as she saw..."'Listen carefully, Amelia. Remember you're my brain. And also, meet me at the relaxation center, the one close to the Internet café. Do you understand?'"

Amelia looked and saw Kelly's eyes on her, but looked away immediately with a disturbed sigh wondering how she was gonna get out of her claws.

"Are you okay?" Beth asked seeing as she was lost in thoughts.

Amelia scoffed lowly. 'I'm some distance removed from okay.' She looked at Beth, and nodded. "Yes."

Beth nodded. "Okay."

After two straight hours, the class was over. The lecturer left, and students began standing up with their bags, and books in hand.

Spencer, and Beth stood up, but their forehead puckered when they saw Amelia still on the seat. "Aren't you going? Let's go."

Amelia looked up at them. "I...I have something I need to take care of, so you guys should go without me."

Beth, and Spencer glanced at each other feeling damn confused.

"Something? What thing?" Bethany asked.

Amelia looked at both of them, her mind spiraling a little as she wondered what lie to tell them. She's not use to it. "I..."

"Let's let her be, Beth." Spencer interjected. "Just call us when you're free, okay? Be careful."

Amelia smiled in relief, deeply thankful to Spencer for the save. She seems to have a knack for saving her, and she nodded.

Ever since seeing Amelia, Spencer somehow knew she'll need friends to be there for her, and also felt the need to protect her from harm. She's small, and fragile. Not the kind of traits that'll last for long in university.

It made her wonder how she passed high school.

Seeing them leave, Amelia looked around noticing Kelly, and her companions was no longer in the class.

She inserted her books inside her handbag, and stood up with a destination in mind. The relaxation center.

"Hey."

Finn stopped on his track, and rose his head up at a lady smiling in front of him. He sighed knowing what to expect. The same ol' things. He has never met a woman that'll see him, and look away. Mind their businesses.

"What is it?" He bluntly asked.

The girl's eyes seemed like it was trapped in his piercing blue eyes. He was so perfect. "I, I wanted to know if you saw my gift. I sent it to your office."

Finn looked away with furrowed brows. "Hmm. I receive a lot of gifts, so I don't know which gift..." He trailed off looking back at her.

"Diana..."

"I don't even check the names. I give them to my male employees, or throw the not useful ones away." His voice was calm, but at the same time appalling.

The girl's expression faded at the statement. He was mean, although she knows that, but... "I just wanted to...."

"Stop sending gifts. Stop wasting money." Finn admonished her. "I'm not a trophy one can easily get. Do you understand?"

The girl's eyes began glistening with tears as she looked up at him stiffened to the spot she stood. She was hating the feeling she was having. The reality of being rejected was winking annoyingly at her like it enjoys the pain she was going through in her heart.

Yes. He definitely crushed her heart.

Finn tilted his head at her, completely unfazed by her reaction. It's something she should have expected, so since he's got work to do, he left her.

He's had his own fair share of girls, and has been thought a dangerous lesson. He doubt any girl is ever gonna make him fall in love.

In fact, he wasn't sure he was capable of love or finding someone that'll prove him wrong. He wasn't sure he was ever gonna find the one meant for him.

The only contact he can ever get with them is the physical one or rather sexual. No emotions included.

The tears fell profusely from the girl's eyes, and her friends watching from afar rushed towards her. "Diana. Diana are you okay?"

Diana shook her head still crying. "Do I look like I'm okay? He rejected me." She cried out loud.

Her friends sighed. "That's something expected, Diana. I warned you." But then she hugged her, and let her cry on her shoulders.

"Here." Kelly handed over the books of her, and her friends which made Amelia very confused, her gaze focused on the books on her hands with discerning eyes as if the books could answer the question in her mind.

"The books. Wh...what is it for?" She asked, and rose her head a little at Kelly.

"Those are our note books." Kelly replied with a duh tone.

Amelia was still confused. "Why giving them to me then?"

Fiona chuckled at the girl's stupid attitude. How can she display ignorance? She looked like someone who has gone past this all her life.

Kelly shook her head at the clueless attitude. "Okay, since you are pretending not to have an idea. You're gonna be helping us with writing our notes, our assignments...."

"What?" Amelia gulped as she blurted out. Although she was dumbstruck at the words. "If....if I'm gonna be doing all these for you, what about test, and exams?"

The girls scoffed. "Oh geez. She really is clueless." Jennifer had to say.

Kelly sighed. "There's always a way, Amelia. You'll help us with everything..."

"But we could get caught. That's not something one can get away with, so please...please I beg you..."

Kelly knocked, and pushed the side of her head swaying it away from the spot it was, and shutting her up. "Shut up, Amelia. We still have months to go before tests, and exams begin, so there's still time to think. For now deal with this." She said pointing hardly on the books on her hands.

Amelia kept shtum knowing her words are meaningless, and knowing the least she could do is obey.

"And also since I am coordinator, you'll do most of the jobs. Get most of the informations, and pass to me, submit assignments....to make things short, you'll do my work for me."

"But won't they know...."

"Why would they? All the lecturers care about is for their informations to be passed to the students, for their assignments to be submitted in due time, or projects, or whatever....they don't give a damn." Kelly exacted.

Amelia rubbed both her sweaty palms together severely, her anger clawing inside her, and wanting out.

If not for her hoodie, Kelly would have been able to see red mist clouding her face.

"Now since I'm sure you understand, you can leave to start doing your job. Get the numbers of our lecturers, and get information, you dig?"

Amelia nodded like she was stuck in gravity. It seems her world was bound to crumble right from the onset. She was born to be unlucky in life.

That day was one tough day for her that got her extremely stressed out. She couldn't even follow her friends out to drink, and to personally congratulate themselves for a successful first day of lectures.

She had to be back home because of the works she still had to do.

Three lectures they had for the day which means she's got three notes times three to copy before tomorrow. So unfair.

She brought the books out, and dropped it on her desk. It was best for her to start writing now in order to find time to sleep.

"What books are those?" Stephanie asked laying on her bed.

Amelia looked at her, and sat down on the chair. "School." She answered bluntly.

"School? Didn't you write notes at school, or were you incapable of meeting up? Although I doubt that."

Amelia looked at her and saw she was looking like someone calculating something. "It's really nothing." She looked away, and switched on her lamp. "You should just sleep."

"Lia, you got back pretty early today. People with friends just don't do that. After school, friends hang out. At times to coffeeshops to give themselves time to read, or to bars to celebrate, or get drunk, or to clubs to have fun. When I passed by Barlane, I saw freshmen there. I honestly thought you'll be there."

Amelia sighed trying hard not to get affected by the statements. "I just....I just had things to do, and also I don't really think I should get myself involved with those things. I'm sure you should understand."

Stephanie lowered her eyes feeling pity, and wondering how long Amelia will keep punishing herself for nothing.

She's just a lovely innocent girl, and did nothing wrong in life.

They've been friends since high school, so she knows every in and out about Amelia, and likewise.

She's gone through a lot, but she keeps punishing herself like she's the bad person in a hero-villain book.

She just nodded. "As much as I don't want to, I should pretend I do."

Amelia ignored, and proceeded in writing the notes.
