My fingers had gripped the hem of her gown, tugging them upward, the same fingers tugged on my tie. Forcing them loose, for some reason I got too excited at the fact that he had found the her.
"Are you sure you found her?" I didn't want to get ahead of myself.
He nodded in a manner that would fool anyone into thinking he was really that confident of his answer, but not me, I wasn't fooled.
"Cam?" I prodded.
He sighed,
"Look, I had a theory, you said she was definitely rich? Well are you sure about that?"
This time it was my turn to nod,
"Affirmative, her clothing was definitely designers, her skin was almost silk, she used good products." At the mention of her skin, an image of her flesh revealing itself to me as I tugged on her gown, flashed through my mind's eye. I breathed hard through my nose to control myself.
"Good, then my theory should make some sense. What if she was married?"
I blinked in surprise, I didn't expect that. But an image of her fingers gripping my hair flashed through my mind, and I saw no ring.
I scoffed,
"She wasn't wearing any ring bro."
"Listen to me, and then conclude later. What if she was actually Clarissa, but with a different surname, and Jones was maybe her father's surname?"
Good theory, I handed it to him, unfortunately, I could not believe I had done something with a married woman. I couldn't bring myself to believe. I never did that, it was against my morals.
"I know you don't believe me, but this makes sense." His features were almost begging me to believe.
I folded my hands across my chest and squared my shoulders.
"Why would she come to a club then?"
He looked baffled,
"Same reason every married woman goes to a club? To get some? Maybe she felt guilty to her husband in the last minute and had to run away."
My head was spinning, if his theory was right then... I was craving another person's wife? Another person's wife has been running through my mind? I threw up a little in my mouth.
"Well she looked young.." I tried desperately, now I was grasping at straws.
"There's a thing called make up? Or plastic surgery? Apparently it helps them look younger."
I had to sit down immediately, sleeping around with married women was Jonathan's thing, not mine, I hated that. I cursed at myself for allowing it to happen.
"Hey, remember it's still a theory, you still have to meet this woman and make sure she is your Clarissa Jones. Okay?"
I nodded, at the very least that gave me hope, I wasn't too much of a horrible person. Until I meet her again she remains unmarried to me, and when I meet her, and she was married? Well...
"Anyway your mom has been calling you for a while now, any more than that, she'll barge in here." Cam said in his chirpy voice.
I cursed, in the speed of light I swiped my phone from the table. I don't know how it got there. But before I could answer it had already rang to the end.
"You saw it earlier and didn't tell me?" I asked Cam in annoyance. He shrugged calmly.
The phone rang almost immediately. I answered,
"DO YOU KNOW THE REASON FOR A TELEPHONE?! IT WASN'T INVENTED TO GET A RESPONSE TWO HOURS LATER, I COULD HAVE USED THE POST OFFICE FOR THAT. IT WAS INVENTED SO WE COULD TALK IN REAL TIME!" I had to remove the phone from my ear so I didn't go deaf.
"Good morning to you too mom."
I heard her take a deep breath,
"Come home, I want to have breakfast with you, and I know you haven't had breakfast yet. I'm expecting you right now." She disconnected after that.
I sighed, the woman was really dramatic.
"Did you already set up a meeting with the Clarissa Jones?" I asked Cam because I knew he already knew the person.
He smiled a cheeky smile.
"Not yet, not without your consent. Now let's get to breakfast, I'm sure Mrs Clarissa Jones had already had breakfast in bed." He said walking out the door.
I felt dread sink into my stomach, what was this? Why did I get entangled up with a might be married woman?
"Are you just going to stand there?" Cam asked.
"We need to use the helicopter, I'm not walking through that door again." I said eying the front door, it led to Danielle, and I couldn't handle her touchy feely for now.
Cam clapped excitedly, for some reason he loved the helicopter more than anything.
We walked through the back door, the helicopter stood there in all it's glory, the wind was too loud to talk to Cam but I tried anyway.
"I THINK I'LL JUST TAKE CLARISSA FROM HER HUSBAND."
He made a face then smiled,
"I'M HUNGRY TOO."
I rolled my eyes. Soon we were up in the sky, my eyes closed on their own. Suddenly I concentrated on just one sound, the sound of the engine. There was a sound the engine made, it wasn't there before. It was new, meaning something was wrong with the engine.
We landed a few blocks away from my parents house. I picked there just in case someone was following us. Somehow. People did crazy things.
I tapped the pilot,
"There's a sound coming from the engine, it's not so loud, but it could be a problem. Fix it."
He looked surprised, then as if he wanted to argue, unfortunately he couldn't, so he nodded instead.
"How could you hear that? It was mad noisy in there? And you said the sound wasn't loud." Cam asked as we walked to his car.
I swallowed,
"Instinct?"
He thought about it for a moment before accepting it. We got to his car, I rode shotgun.
"Why are you dressed formally today?"
He chuckled,
"I'm meeting some investors later."
He pulled out of the driveway, and into the main road.
"Oh and by the way, Jonathan will be here for breakfast too, he posted on his Instagram."
