Chapter 3

Jaclyn Rae

I walked into the ballroom full of higher ups people gathered here tonight to spend their money for charity. I honestly love charity events because not only we can help people that in need but you get to meet people that can be your potential buyer or maybe partnership deals.

I greeted some people that I knew and tried to have a light talk with them as I mingled into the middle of the ballroom. As I was about to check on my phone, someone grabbed my upper arm and it was my other brother, Jayson.

"Are you going to donate tonight?" He asked as he pulled me to the side instead of standing in the middle. "Yes, I will. How about you?" I asked as we're already standing on the side of the ballroom.

"How much?" He asked me but he didn't even bother to look at me. I tried to follow what he's looking and I have no clue. "Why are you asking me this?"

Before he could answer, Jace already dragged him away. I was confused looking at my brothers acting suspiciously but I decided not to think about it. I saw the toilet sign on the door beside me decided to go to the toilet.

I walked in and checked myself at the mirror. Today, I'm wearing a white satin midi dress with spaghetti straps. I chose to wear satin because why not? It's a trend these days and it's comfortable. I touched up my make up a little bit and walked out from the toilet.

The charity event started and I found some people that I know near me. We started to talk about businesses while the event started by bidding on jewellery. From what I know, they will have jewelries and art bidding.

"Jaclyn." I turned my head to the left to see Ivonne smiling at me. She complimented how beautiful I am tonight and that she's looking for me all over the place. "Why did you look for me?"

"I want to introduce you to my son, Noah." So that man decided to come tonight huh? Ivonne grabbed my hand holding it tightly and started to drag me with her. She kept checking on me if I'm following her or not despite the fact that she's holding me tightly.

She stopped and I looked at the man standing in front of her. He's gorgeous. The first question that popped up on my mind was.. is he really a cardiologist?

"Jaclyn, this is Noah, my son." Ivonne introduced her son to me and I gave him a light smile before putting my hand in front of him. He was looking at it for a second before he took my hand. "What a gentleman." I said sarcastically to myself silently.

"Noah Clayton." He said in his low tone voice as he shook my hand firmly.

"Nice to meet you." I said and Ivonne squealed on the side. She was clapping her hands together looking at the both of us. She asked us to talk with each other and she left us alone.

I turned around to face the bidding that's happening on the stage and Noah stood beside me. I crossed my arms in front of my chest listening to the bidding that's more interesting than the man who's standing beside me.

"Sorry for not showing up yesterday, I hate the idea of my parents arranging me with someone I barely know." He said. I turned to him but he already has his eyes on me. "It's fine, I'm not a fan either besides it looks like we both don't want it."

"How about I make it up to you?" I was waiting for him to continue his sentence because I want to know how he's going to make it up to me. "How about we ditch off and grab dinner together?"

Noah Clayton

Her pictures that my mom showed me, the billboards that I saw, the posters of her on the streets and even the ads didn't do justice for her beauty. Her emerald eyes shined and it's one of the things that captivating about her other than her smile and cute small dimple on her cheek.

I didn't know that she's the woman that my parents wanted to arrange me with. If I knew, I might come to that lunch.

"How about I make it up to you?" She looked at me with a hint of unsureness in her eyes. "How about we ditch off and grab dinner together?" I raised my eyebrows and she turned to the stage and then back to me.

"Very well." She said and I gestured to her to walk first. She gave me a light nod before walking first and I walked a step behind her. As we walked out from the ballroom, I noticed a lot of men turn their heads just to see Jaclyn. They're eyeing her from head to toe and to be honest, I'm not blaming them. I know she has a lot of man courting her but she gives zero attention to them.

We waited for my car to come to the lobby and she was looking down on her heels as we're waiting. "Do you have any allergies to food?" I asked her and she turned to me, shaking her head. "I don't but I'm not a fan of raw things like sashimi."

"Noted!" I said and my car came on time. I opened the door for her and I walked towards the driver seat. I got into the car and put on my seatbelt. I checked on her and she's already wearing it. I drove out from the building.

"Are we going to break off the arrangement between us?" She asked in a curious tone and right now, I'm not sure if I want to break it off. I want to get to know her more. "You're seeing someone?"

"No.. but I don't think I want to date someone right now." I glanced at her for a second and she was busy looking at the road. "How about we get to know each other first?"

"Says someone who didn't show up last time." Her sarcastic tone showed me that she wasn't impressed by my action last time. She's a woman with pride and of course she hates the fact of me not showing up when she showed up waiting for me.

"I apologize for that."

"I wonder what makes you change your mind, Doctor Clayton?"
