Chapter 5

Noah Clayton

3 months later..

"I recommended you to stay for about 5-6 days so we can check your condition constantly." I said it to my patient as I put some note on their chart. I checked the IV drops and then I gave Jill, the nurse, my patient's chart. I walked out from the room and suddenly I got called to the emergency room.

I ran as fast as I could because it's an emergency. One of the nurses told me that the patient had a heart attack and I quickly went to the procedure as fast as I can. After 30 minutes trying to stabilize his condition, we're done. We moved him to the intensive care unit.

I wrote my patient's condition on their chart and gave it to the nurse. As I was about to leave the emergency room, I saw the emergency room door burst open. They rushed in and my eyes widened to see Jaclyn.

I saw one of the emergency doctors run towards her and checked on her immediately. I walked closely to see her bleeding on the head but she's still conscious. She looked around and her eyes caught mine.

"Noah.." She called and one of the nurses turned to me. They quickly treated her and I decided to ask the nurse in charge.

"Car crash, she was at a really high speed. The break didn't work." The nurse said and I started to see her condition closely. Her wounds were pretty bad and it doesn't seem like it's a light crash. What happened exactly?

After the doctor in charge handled her, he recommended her to stay in the hospital for a couple of days to see if there's complications in other places. They will have her take a MRI test later on.

"Noah." She called and I walked to her. She grabbed my hand suddenly and I looked at her confused.

"Please help me!" She slowly sat up straight and I helped her by making the bed comfortable enough for her to sit. She bit her lips as she felt a little bit dizzy. "What happened?" I asked curiously.

"Help me.." She said as she held onto my arm.

"You already get help, what do you mean?" I don't really understand what she meant. She looked straight into my eyes. "Help me cover up all of this, I don't want my family to know." What?

"How can you hide from your family about this? You need time to recover and then I bet someone out there already trying to make a news about the car crash-"

"No, I told my secretary to cover it up as soon as possible."

"How is that possible? You just got here and there's no sign of your secretary?" Is she losing her mind? "I called her after the crash happened. I told her to save my reputation first then call 911 for me." I looked at her disbelief. How could she care about her reputation first when her life is on the line?

"You need some rest." I said as I let her hand go. I looked at her completely annoyed by the fact that she didn't care about her life. It was so obvious that the crash wasn't a light one judging by the wounds.

"But.. I really need your help!" She said and I asked the nurse to move her to the room. She was protesting and asked me to hear her first but I wasn't buying it. I decided to go back to work.

Jaclyn Rae

I was on an empty track with my racing car. I was more than thrilled to know that I will go back on racing again after more than 3 months being so busy. I put on my seatbelt and started the car. The feelings of hearing the engine roaring felt so good in my heart.

I pressed on the gas and I immediately drove fast following the track. I slowly go faster with the speed listening to my adrenaline to go up. I was ready to nail the race next week.

I went through the track for quite some time and I slowly pressed the brake to slow down but it didn't work. I panicked and as I tried to figure out how to stop, my hand slipped causing my car to get out of control and I crashed to the nearest trackblock.

When the crash happened, my head bumped to the airbag pretty hard and I felt my whole body hurting. It was hard for me to breath for a few seconds and my vision was slowly getting blurry.

It took me a few minutes to find myself. I took off my seatbelt and started to reach for my bag under my seat. I tried to look for my phone by blindly going through my bag. It was hard for me to breath still but I managed to get my brain back slowly.

After a few moments of struggle, I grabbed my phone and dialed my secretary's number.

"Amy.." I breathed heavily.

"Yes, Ms. Rae. Do you need-"

"I got.. I got.. int- into a car crash." I stated as I kept trying to breath. She gasped instantly and I heard her running. "Where are you, Ms. Rae?"

"Racing track, I'm practicing." I said as I laid back to my seat slowly as my eyes started to get blurry again. "I'm calling 911 right now, please hang on."

"I don't want this news to be out, Amy. Please don't let the media and my family know about this." I said and then I found myself dropping the phone down because I lost the strength to my hand.

I tried my best to breathe as my vision slowly.. going black.
