Chapter 4
Ivory Evans
My heart was beating fast when I saw Leon walking into the small pharmacy across the street. I knew he's going to buy a bandage or some medicine to treat my wound, I'm not dumb.
I thought he's going to be douchebag earlier but he's different. Ever since I knew the definition of attraction, love and boys.. I never met someone like him. He's very polite, well-mannered and considerate.
I decided to walk back to the restaurant and the parents were surprised to see me walking back alone.
"Ivory, did Leon say something bad to you?" Wesley asked and I turned to him shaking my head.
"Why did you come back alone?" My dad asked and I was speechless. I wanted to answer but my lips glued together. I saw the entrance door open revealing Leon with a box of bandages on his hand.
"Where were you? Why did you leave her alone?" Welsey asked Leon and Leon looked confused but he pointed to the bandage that he bought.
"What happened?" Marie, Leon's mom, asked and Leon turned to me. When our eyes met, I knew.
"Mom.. Dad.."
"Huh?" My dad asked and I kept my eyes glued to Leon.
"I want to marry him." I stated confidently and Leon's eyes widen. I turned to my parents and they completely looked at me like I'm crazy.
"He bought that bandage for me because I hurt my feet." I said as I pointed at the bandage.
"You.. you want to marry him?" My dad asked, confirming my statement from earlier.
"How about you, Leon?" I turned to Leon and he was speechless.
"We just met, Ivory. I think it's important for us to get to each other first." He laughed nervously and I can't tell that he didn't like the idea.
"Very well, you're right." I said as I sat up straight. I gestured him to give me the bandage and he gave it to me. He sat down and he looked at empty plate in front of him.
"Ivory is a little bit straight foward, please understand her." My dad said.
"It's okay, I'm glad that she likes Leon already." Wesley said and I kept looking at Leon who's currently looking at the plate blankly.
Our food came and the parents started to talk. I started to eat but still looking at Leon. Leon didn't say a word ever since I told everyone that I want to marry him.
"Can I try yours?" I asked and he looked up to me nodding. He pushed his bowl of ramen me letting me take a spoonful of it.
"You cook western food?" I asked as I pushed back his bowl of ramen.
"I cook a lot of things but I love to cook asian food the most." He stated as he gave me a small smile. I ate the ramen that I took from him and my eyes widen.
"This is so good." I said and he nodded.
"Uhmm.. do you want mine?" I asked because I just took his food earlier.
"I'm good, I ate that often." He said and I nodded.
"How long have you been in the modeling world?" Leon asked.
"Around 5 years." I said as I cut my salmon into small pieces.
"You should try dipping the salmon into the sauce." Leon said as he pointed at the green sauce in front of me. I looked at the sauce hesitating because I'm not a fan of sauce.
"Trust me." He said and I looked at him.
"It's good." He said as he pointed at the sauce. I found myself dipping the fish into the sauce. I took a bite and looked at Leon completely surprise.
"It's good." I said as I looked at the sauce and the salmon.
"I helped Lisa make the sauce." He said and I chuckled.
"So you're trying to brag huh?"
"He's a great cook, Ivy." My dad said.
"Do you mind having a dessert with me after this?" I asked.
"Sure." I smiled when he answered that. I kept eating my food while Leon tried to join the conversation from time to time. After we finished eating, we both excused ourselves to find dessert together.
"What do you think about my statement?" I asked Leon as we walked along the side road.
"What statement?"
"That I want to marry you." He stopped walking and he turned to me.
"Ivory, I just got out from a bad breakup. I don't think I can open up that quickly. I respect you making that statement besides we just met today so I think it's better for us to be friends first." He said and I never met a man like him in my life. This made me wonder what did his ex do? She's pretty dumb to let a man like this go.
"Fine. We can see each other everyday starting from now then." I said and he chuckled looking at me.
"We both have work, Ivory. Why should we see each other everyday?"
"We have to get to know each other."
"I kinda need space these days." He said and then he continued to walk.
"I love ice cream.. especially chocolate. When I have my fashion week schedule, I will quit chocolate for 2 months and the first thing I eat after the show is chocolate." I said as I crossed my arms in front of my chest.
"I love mint choco." He said and I stopped.
"Disgusting!" I hissed and he laughed.
"Why is that disgusting? It's good."
"I feel like brushing my teeth when I eat that flavour." I shook my head.
"Do you have a pet?" He asked.
"I have a black labrador at home. How about you?"
"Really? I have a labrador too!" He said and I turned to him completely surprised.
"Millie.. her name."
"Blue.. his name." I turned to him and looked at him straight into his eyes.
"You're pretty interesting, Leon." I said and he looked away that second.
"Still hurting?" He asked as he pointed at my feet.
"It's fine."
