CHAPTER 8
“So, it’s true, now you can’t even defend yourself. I saw you with my own eyes and couldn’t ask you at all. I wanted you to feel the same pain I did when I found out about you two. Just leave me alone Chloe.
I will not tell anyone about it to show you some respect because of our past affection but from now on please stay away from me as possible. I have a wife I need to care about.”
“Don’t do this to me Neal, please. I’m sorry, it just happened.”
“I don’t care how it happened really. I just want you out of my sight or else I will tell every media outlet there about you and see whether you can walk holding your head high,” he threatened her.
Chloe wiped away her tears and withdrew from the class. He slapped the book on the table and closed her eyes. It was really painful; he loves her but he just couldn’t do anything about it now.
“Neal!” Jasper his other friend came into the room holding his tablet.
“What is it?” he asked.
“You need to see this,” he said and gave him his tablet.
He couldn’t believe what this people were reporting. They were exposing every single detail of Talia on the news. She wasn’t from a wealthy family and they were slandering her; even comparing her to Chloe. What would Talia say if she sees this?
“Are you okay?”
“I will be.”
“What about Talia?”
“If she can’t withstand such a small storm then she won’t be qualified to be this kingdom’s princess,” he replied.
“You are ruthless man. How can you break every woman’s heart at the same time?”
“It’s a gift, I guess. Aren’t you going back to class?”
“I am, I will see you when I’m done.”
“Sure.”
Jasper left and he was alone again before his classmates returned back to the room. As if nothing had happened, he resumed reading his book.
Every day he avoided seeing Talia and she didn’t seem to care at all. She was busy with her lessons which she was doing so well. His mother liked her a lot, she could talk about her all the time and she even threatened that if he didn’t see her, she was not going to let him move into his own palace which was very painful. So, he began to make some moves just to see her.
He went to see her after her lessons were done. Talia was a talkative person once you push the right buttons. She told him some honest truths which made him went to sleep early that night.
The next day he remembered he still had a date to go to so he bought Talia some clothes which went against the palace rules but she was still a teenager and she and to dress like one.
She looked beautiful when she took her out, she made him do a lot of things he never thought he would ever do. She was a very unique and interesting girl. He believed that his marriage was going to become one of a kind. He couldn’t wait for the next day to arrive and get the wedding over with.
“Do you think she is ready?” Queen Grace asked the Priestess.
“She will be ready soon; it has already begun and by the time the wedding ceremony ends she will be half ready.”
“That’s good news. Our land had been with no Seer for a very long time and she is the first one to appear. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to her.”
“Don’t panic your majesty, she is safe. The Gods of our land are protecting her.”
“I pray so too.”
“Tomorrow after the traditional wedding, you should hand her the beads. She should have them.”
“Okay, I will do so.”
“I will take my leave now; I will see you at the ceremony tomorrow.”
“Be safe.”
Queen Grace sighed as the Priestess left the hall. She was born and raised from a family that protected the Seers since they had no power to do so themselves. Their abilities made them targets so they had to be protected.
So, the knowledge was passed from one generation to another. They were taught on how to spot them and what to do when they find them. Ever since the last Seer died no one had ever appeared again.
The Seer beads were kept safely in her home and now they had found their owner. It was the day of the consort selection when she saw her smiling standing leaning against the wall wearing server’s clothes.
She was happy and yet she couldn’t do anything about it. How was it even possible that there was one in her time?
When her son walked towards her and picked her instead of Chloe, she felt much relived. She didn’t really liked Chloe but for the sake of her son she had no choice. So, when he didn’t choose her, she was happy. At least her son had something good for the kingdom; he had chosen a seer for his bride and now the kingdom will be saved.
Seers held great abilities, if their abilities were found in the wrong person or a corrupted seer then the nation will come to its ruin. In times of droughts they would make the rain to fall, in times of war they would make the lost battles to be won, they would prevent calamities from happening, see one’s past and future.
Their destined partners were very rare but mostly they were not able to see their pasts or futures. They were special and very different and it was difficult to understand what they do mostly but since she knew how she was better.
She made someone familiar to Talia to teach her the etiquette of the palace that way she won’t freak a lot. They have these unpredictable tempers that would make the earth shake if they were angry, so no matter what she should remain as calm as possible and she just prayed that will be possible.
