CHAPTER 4
Her father was the chairman of the hospital though he wasn’t a doctor to begin with. Her family had always prided themselves with the health issue a lot and she understood why the doctor was like that.
A minute later she heard her mother’s voice. She was crying. Did she know that she was still alive and not dead?
“My little pumpkin, did you get hurt?” her mother asked as she approached her and began to check her face.
“Just a few scratches but I’m fine mother,” she said.
“Thank God. Baby what really happened?”
Amber explained part of the story, only the good parts and her mother knew that but there was no way she was going to say anything.
“So, did you get the name of this woman?”
“No, she was gone after making her statement. Mom can you do me a favor and find out who she is. I want to show her my deepest gratitude for saving so many lives today including mine,” she said blushing.
“Is that my daughter speaking?” her father asked as he walked inside.
“Dad, when did you come in?”
“Just now. It seems you are fine,” he said.
“I’m not at all. Can you find her for me, please?”
“Already did. Do you want me to call her?”
“No, I will see her after I get discharged and thank her myself.”
“If that’s what you want then it’s fine. Your brother will arrive tomorrow, don’t make him worry,” her dad said.
“I won’t daddy and I’m sorry,” she finally said.
“I forgive you since you came out alive and the others as well. Next time, just tell someone and don’t do anything recklessly again or I will make you take a taxi or the bus.”
“I will be careful next time, I promise,” she said.
She knew her dad was one tough guy though she wasn’t really sure if he would really make her take the taxi to school or anywhere else.
Her mother hugged her pretty close and she felt her warmth. She was going to forget about that bastard and concentrate on her new love. Would that woman fall for her? Was she into women? She was going to find out everything and win her no matter what.
“Daddy!” she called out.
“What is it princess?”
“Can I get another car?” she asked shyly.
“Of course, anything you want. I will give it to you,” her dad said and she smiled.
“Thank you, daddy,” she said and blew him a kiss.
“Before I forget, the woman who saved you is familiar,” her dad said.
“Why do you say so dad?”
“You know the Whites?”
“Yes, they are popular.”
“She is the unpopular one, Haven White.”
“That’s her name?”
“Yes.”
“Thank you, daddy, I will look her up,” she said now her face all light up.
She couldn’t wait to look her up, find her and meet her in person. If she was not popular then it was good, that way she will have her all to herself.
“Haven White, wait for me. I’m coming for you,” she thought to her herself and smiled once more.
“Are you doing this on purpose?” Haven asked as she lit her fourth cigarette since her meeting began.
“It’s not my intention Viper, but the circumstances are making me,” the Minister of Finance Mr. Smith said.
If the man wasn’t old, she was going to make him taste her venom.
‘” have always hated all Ministers of finance because they are only concerned with their benefits but that’s different for me now. Whatever you do make me to profit a lot but I still don’t get why you are such an asshole.”
“I’m sorry.”
“You better be. Not only did you lose my money but you want to borrow more. Do I look like an idiot? This is what I’m going to do,” she said and press her sped dial.
“Come to the office now,” she said and hung up.
“What are you going to do?”
“Teach you a great lesson. You see, I’m not here to play but to make money but you are making losses not for me but for all my children and I hate it when my children suffer,” she said and smoked.
There was a slight knock on her door and then her lawyer came in. her lawyer was this vicious man in his forties. He was the most ruthless man she had ever seen. He never lost a case, one of the reasons why she recruited him.
“How can I be of service?”
“I need that affidavit now, the one for our notorious clients!”
“Let me take it out,” he said as he put his bag down, opened it and remove a flat file and placed it on the desk.
“You see Mr. Smith; I no longer trust you but your government still do so I will help you just this once and in return you will have to fulfill a few requests I will come up with in the long run. Take this and read it, if you like what you see then sign it.
Take it home and think this over, after all it’s your life that will be hanging. And don’t play games with me, I’m not in the mood,” she said and watched as the man sweat a bucket.
“You can leave now; I have other clients that I need to see.”
Mr. Smith left her office and her lawyer Jones sat down.
“Should I follow him?”
“Yes, I need to know who he meets and what he talks about. I wouldn’t like seeing anyone barging in here without a notice,” she said.
“Yes Ma’am, I will have my people do that. Is there anything I should do for you at the moment?”
“Now, just do your job and notify me if something comes up.”
“I will do that. I will take my leave.”
“Okay Jones and tell Gina to bring me a cup of coffee and a sandwich, I’m feeling famished.”
She watched as Jones left the office and sighed. What a job she has?
She didn’t have clients to see anymore since she had them postponed so that she could give that old man some time alone but he spoiled everything. It was probably time to go and see her pets and feed.
Gina came in with a tray and smiled.
“Here is your food Haven,” she said and put the tray on her table.
“Thanks. On your way out, tell the vet I will be dropping by in an hour.”
“I will make the call,” Gina said and left.
Gina was the perfect assistant she could ever ask for. That girl was tight lipped; she tested her just a few months after she started working for her and passed her. Al her assistants cracked easily which is why she heavily threatened them or dispose of them.
Gina didn’t ask a lot of questions and she admired her for that. She really hated answering questions anyway.
