Chapter 6
"Don't speak too loud, Susan. It freaking hurts!" Aurora whined, clutching her head to soothe the pain.
"Serve you right, who asked you to get drunk when you can't handle liquor."
Aurora cried in pain. "It angered me when he denied for the third time."
Susan sighed in irritation as well. "Yes, I know. I don't think he is going to agree to our offer anytime soon, Aurora. He has thought of himself as a God since he received that award," she said, handing Aurora a glass of orange juice and medicine to ease the pain.
"Let's go home, there is nothing left here anymore, Where is Emily?" Aurora asked, swallowing the pills in one go.
Susan gestured to her room. "She blamed herself like always."
Aurora twisted her lips to one side, pouting in regret over her one more failing attempt. "I won't break my promise to her, Susie. We will open our jewellery chain even if I have to…"
"Relax, don't get hyper over this. Let me see what I can do but please go and shower we are leaving for Churchill in two hours."
Meanwhile, Liam's mind was still enraged with last night's incident. He couldn't get over the fact that Aurora ignored him, not only that she insulted him.
He watched the two men combat each other in the fight match. His nose flared in anger, he should be watching his men. It was after all a twenty million dollar fight but his mind was on Aurora's mocking smile when she threw him in the water.
Ryan eyes his son. He could sense that something was troubling him. "What's the matter, son?"
Liam fisted his hand tightly, his eyes turned dark in rage. His mind asked him to control his anger, other mafia men were sitting around him to watch this match. Men, who wouldn't shy away from putting a bullet in his head given the chance. He had to maintain an image that scared them but at this moment he didn't give a damn about any of it. All that mattered was Aurora.
She was no longer just a means to an end which Liam needed to get what he wanted. No, now she had become a thing Liam craved and everyone knows if Liam craved something he had to have that thing no matter what way he used to get it.
Ryan gestured to his other son, Ralph to handle the fight and went near Liam. "In my office, son."
Liam watched his father walking to his office, with an irritated look he followed him inside to the office. "What's with the sore face?" Ryan asked, cutting his cigar and putting it between his lips.
Liam raised his eyes and pinned them on his boss and father. He got this craziness from him. "I want her, Aurora Kings. In my bed, under me, performing the marital duties, father."
Ryan's brows folded together hearing the darkness in his son's tone. "I won't call it love at first sight. Tell me what exactly happened?"
By the time Liam finished telling his father, he was furious when the images of last night flashed in his memory. He looked at his father and walked to him. "You gave me the idea of marrying that girl. Now I want that girl."
"What are you suggesting, Liam?"
"You were right, marriage to that girl will solve all our problems. Go to your friend with the marriage proposal, father. I want it done sooner than later, the father-daughter duo has irritated me enough. I don't want to waste my time on the girl more than I already have when I am fighting a war with that crazy masked man!"
Ryan nodded. "I will do it after the mafia commission meeting," he touched Liam's shoulder, "don't get a girl to ruin your mood, Liam. A beautiful girl comes with a prize, she is heavy on the mind and money both so we have to keep both maintained."
Liam raked his hair. "I want to get it done as soon as possible, dad."
"It will be. He won't be able to find a better husband for his daughter than you. "
On the other hand, Aurora was trying to draw a necklace design inspired by Asian art.
"It's a beautiful design," Susan said, hovering over her shoulder. Aurora shrugged her shoulders.
"I guess! Emily needed it more than us, Susie…" she started but her cell phone rang which stopped Aurora from talking further. It was Gabriel, she didn't wait and accepted the call immediately.
"Hey Gabe, you came back?" She asked him, her mood lifting in excitement.
"Yes, Aurora, can we meet?" He asked, Aurora agreed almost immediately. Butterflies were dancing in her belly over excitement, she was meeting Gabriel after two days. She ran to her room to dress up and after two hours of searching her closet, she was able to choose a beautiful dress.
"Where are you going, Aurora?" Susan asked entering her room and watching her all dressed up.
"To meet Gabe, I will be late. Take care of Emily, bye," Aurora didn't wait anymore and left to meet the man whose name alone brought a smile to her face.
When Aurora reached the restaurant Gabriel was waiting for her at the door of it. Aurora smiled seeing him, Gabrial smiled too, pulling her in his arms. "As always, you look beautiful, Aurora."
"I know, I am just perfect," she said teasingly but one could sense the feeling of pride in her tone. "I have cooked your favourite dishes, shall we?" He asked, offering his elbow to her.
Aurora held it with both her hands and they entered the empty restaurant. "Gabe, there is no one here," she asked with a frown.
"Yes, because I wanted to spend some private time with you. Just you and me," he answered, pulling the chair for her to sit. Once Aurora settled, Gabriel took his chair and just like every other time they ended up holding an easy conversation. But today, Aurora could sense that something was making him uneasy and she couldn't help but ask him about it.
"Gabe? Is everything alright with you?"
Gabriel sighed. "No and yes."
His answer made her scowl. "I don't understand, Gabe."
"I don't know how to say this but I guess, nothing can help me if I don't," he held her hand in a soft grip. "Aurora, I know what I am about to say might change everything between us but I couldn't stop myself anymore. I like you,,I have fallen in love with you. Since we met all I am thinking about is you. I know you are Aurora Kings, a multi-billionaire's daughter and I am nothing but a small restaurant owner. I have no right to feel like this for you but I couldn't stop my heart from falling for you. I love you, Aurora Kings."
Aurora forgot to breathe while he was speaking. She stared into his eyes, her heart beating faster than normal and her body felt so light as if she was flying in the air. She was attracted to him the moment her eyes went to his face. His blue eyes hypnotised her.
"Aurora, if you don't feel the same way for me then…"
"No!"
Gabriel froze. "No?"
Aurora's eyes broadened. "No, I mean yes!"
Yea or No!" He asked, his thumb moving on her hand making her stomach jittery.
"Yes! Yes, Gabe, I love you." She cried, got up and hugged him tightly. It was one of the happiest days of her life.
"I love you so much, Aurora…" he whispered, holding her face in his hand.
"I love you." He said and placed his lips on Aurora' soft lips and kissed her.
Her toes curled in excitement, it felt like hundreds of crackers were burning in the sky.
Today, a new journey started in her life and she hope the journey turned out as beautiful as wished it to be but there was this small voice in the back of my mind which was constantly bugging me that something bad was about to happen.
She just prayed to God that nothing like that would happen.
"What do you mean you said yes?" Susan asked with a frown on her face.
"How long have you known him?"
Aurora sighed. "I like him, Susan and it doesn't matter for how long I've known him, what matters is that I love him now. Anyways, where is Emily?"
"Where else, working on the laptop. I don't understand her mood. One day she is chill and cool, the next day she is focused on work as if she won't get up tomorrow."
Aurora thinned her lips. "We both know why that is, let her work. I am going to sleep, I have a long day tomorrow," she air-kissed her friend and led her to drift into her dream world.

Ethan eyed the butchered pieces of his man in front of him. His nose flared in anger, his eyes drifted to Thomas who picked the letter from the plastic bag.
"Blood inked," he informed Ethan who gave him a curt nod, telling him to read it.
"If you can kill my men, I can kill yours with double creativity. The proof of it is in this bag. I know how badly you want to kill me, Ethan but unlike you, I have learned the art of being patient. You killed my brother brutally and now you will face the consequences of it. I will give you a death so creative that people will remember it and after your death, I will…" Thomas stopped, placed at Ethan whose face turned dark hearing the words of the letter.
"What?" He asked Thomas. "Finish the letter, Thomas."
"Ethan…"
Ethan's brows cleared up. "Finish the letter, Thomas," he ordered.
Thomas gulped before reading the rest of the letter. " ...make that daughter of yours my bitch!"
Ethan stood up with lightning speed and snatched the letter out of his hands, reading it himself. A hot red fury ran through his body. Only Juan's blood could calm this rage inside him.
Ethan kicked the table in front of him, running his hands to his hair and shaking his head. He couldn't let anyone harm his daughter. She was the only one that mattered to him. "Where is Aurora? I want her guarded all the time, Thomas."
"I will hire the best guards for her but you need to calm down and think clearly, Ethan. Don't let your emotions drive you anymore."
Ethan raised his raging eyes and pinned them on Thomas. "He threatened my daughter."
Thomas sighed and opened a bottle of whiskey, filled the hard liquor into two glasses and handed one to his boss. "I hope now you understand why I was asking you to think about Liam."
Ethan's head snapped at Thomas. "What are you pointing at? Speak clearly, I don't have time to dwell into your jumbles."
"Ethan, I am asking you to think about Ryan's hinted words. We can fight and win this war with Juan anytime but only when you have your mind straight. Aurora is your weakness, everyone in the mafia life knows it and they are taking advantage of it. Try to understand dear friend, we can't allow Aurora to be our liability."
When Ethan didn't speak Thomas knew he was listening to him. "Liam is the only one who can keep her safe and protected all the time. He had the reputation of a wild hawk in our world. Far more twist than his father, he is our safe bet moreover they asked for the alliance first and you have Ryan in your hands. Aurora will be safer in Vancouver than she is in Churchill."
Ethan swallowed the hard liquor, it burned through his throat. "I have Ryan in my hands but not his son. You saw that bastard yourself, Thomas. He couldn't be controlled."
"Yes, which makes him even more suitable for Aurora. She needs a man who can handle her Ethan. Ryan will keep his son in line for you, If you want to win this battle then you have to think about Aurora's safety first and the only way to do so is, accepting this hinted alliance with Liam Knight."
Ethan closed his eyes for a moment and his late wife's face flashes in his memory.
"I will talk to him at the commission meeting about this," Ethan said.
The safety of his daughter mattered the most to him even if he had to sign his daughter to the devil itself for it.
He will do it for her.
