Chapter 7

"What's going on?" I asked them absentmindedly, closing my eyes. I was too weak to stand up neither did I fully remember what kept me lying on the floor just that my wolf had been taken away from me.

"How come you forget what happened to you?" Alfred said in shock. I didn't get a clue of what he was saying.

"Why am I lying on the ground?" I stared around and it was my room, "Ooh, ooh, I remember it now!" I muttered.

"Zarina and dad were beating you, this caused you to enter into a coma." George sniffed. I'm grateful for the caring brothers I have, my mind got to discover that Mark wasn't here. For once I forgot he was my brother, he displayed the same lifestyle like Zarina. "I'm so sorry for what happened to you, so sorry." George was now kneeling on the ground with his hands in supplication. I widened my eyes in surprise.

"Why are you doing this George, but you did nothing wrong to me?"

"They don't care for you but I care for you," he said this and tears began flowing freely from my eyes, Alfred and Albert gazed at us so emotionally, they were at the verge of tears but being strong kids, they could control it. George continued caressing the bruised part of my body, I had wounds on my forehead, hands, side of my body and legs. "I'm so sorry!" He repeatedly said, still on his knees beside me.

"It's time for our training lessons, let's go." Alfred muttered to Albert and they left the room. Alfred and Albert had begun training as pack warriors right from when they turned eighteen, my dad said they would be good warriors and he wanted training them into that. They were being trained in attack and defense skills at the Crescent Pack Training Centre located at Park Avenue, a few kilometers from our packhouse. Every evening by 4 PM, their driver would come and take them off. They always returned late in the evening by 7 PM. There are times they return by eight.

When they left, my attention and focus landed on George. "Why did you care to come take care of me when I'm rejected by everyone?"

George raised his head and eyes in utmost amazement, "No, you aren't rejected. Why would you think so, that you're rejected?"

"Because dad and Zarina chose me to face the consequences of their failure to host the annual moon festival." I replied coldly, the air was tense and thick, Zarina's hate and her beatings flashed across my mind, it began to play like it was happening in reality again. I shrugged my shoulders.

"What's that Gracey?" Gracey was the fond name George gave to me, others called me Graciella. He claimed to be so fond of me because our names started with G.

"Nothing!" I rolled my eyes, "I'm just rejected and wolfless now."

"What!" He shook his head in terror. "What do you mean?"

"My wolf just got off me. How long have I been lying here?" I questioned, it seemed like a very long time.

"Hours."

"Haa!" I murmured. "That's been so long."

"Don't worry, everything is fine now. I'll take care of you." George said satisfactorily and I smiled.

"Come on, you can be so caring." A sigh escaped my throat.

"Let's go out, I'll take you out." I smiled widely at this invitation, I so much loved going out. George knew this would be a cool act to soothe my pains, I was already giving in to depression.

It was now fifteen minutes to five, I dressed up in a casual blue gown, fitting and short with a pair of glass slippers. I threw my hair in a stylish way, I placed a fascinator on it. "Come on Gracey, you take too much time!" George shouted from downstairs as I delayed, doing my makeup to make sure I got out in a beautiful style.

"Coming!" I shouted back. I'm a lady, so I need to take time to make sure my appearance is lovely. I'll now have to fight to attract a man with a good appearance, I can no longer have a fated mate now I have no wolf. The moon goddess destined me to pair up with the cursed Alpha but I don't want him, he's so dangerous. "So sad I'm now a human!" I sighed downstairs as I walked out of the main door with George.

"Don't really disturb yourself about this, nothing changes." George said, rolling his eyes. He never took things seriously although he got very sympathetic when anything happened to the one he loved, just like he did to me.

George opened the door of his Chevrolet Corvette for me and I got in. George entered, he placed his hands on my hips smiling at me. "What's it?" I blushed suspiciously.

"You're my girlfriend for tonight."

"Woww," I blushed shyly. We gazed at each other, we looked like the perfect couple. Though I was his senior by four years, he was tall, handsome and well-built, he towered over me.

"I think you can put up your best composure, we can find your mate in this event, I'll visit the Disney Park, I think you love it?"

"Sure, I love that place so much. It's where dreams come true."

"Yeah, that's why I said you could meet your lover."

"Really?"

"Yes," he nodded. "Believe me, I have the gift of prophecy. That's what my mind tells me, you'll find him."

"What if I don't like him?" The thought of my real destined mate, Romeo comes to mind, what if he's the one I'll meet?

"You will like him, sure." George said confidently, I wonder what makes him so confident.

George gave me a look of assurance, he kick started the car engine. The car was reversed and he drove out of the compound into the street and the main road. I needed not take permission from anyone, now I knew I was being rejected by my family. George was trying to make me feel good by saying I was not rejected.

The cold evening breeze soothed me, calming my worries and anxiety. I can't just wait to arrive at the park and see nice things for myself. Who knows, George's prophecy might come true.

While George drove, I felt the urge to start some conversation with him. It's getting boring, the distance to Disney Park is a long journey, it takes about an hour to arrive but thirty minutes had already passed.

"What do you think about my love life? I don't think I'll ever take care of our pack in any way in the future." Curiosity clearly showed in my face, in as much as I was now human, I wouldn't be the Beta any longer. I'd always wished one day to be a great beta, ruling by the side of my sister, Zarina. We could have been the first set of female administrators but now my hope is shattered. My transformation is the first step of my rejection, a human can never become a beta in the shifter world. I think my position would be transferred automatically to Mark, George would've been the gamma but he wasn't trained for this. I'm sure he won't even want to be. He loves to be free and without responsibilities.

George steadied his eyes on the road, my own thoughts had caused me to forget that he didn't reply to my question yet. "George?"

"Yes, sorry I was just focused. I think I just wanted to avoid your too curious questions too," he smiled warmly and I laughed. "I know your main interest, a lover right?" I nodded childishly. "Don't worry you'll meet him as we're going."

George said in a playful style, I doubt if this will really be possible. Let me just go there and see.
