Chapter 2: Demi God

California, San Diego

El Prado

Jexs Incorporated.

Rachael

She swallowed hard, gazing at the huge building in front of her; one of the biggest automobile companies in the whole USA. The cab zoomed off behind her, giving her the reality that she was now all alone. Her red pan suit clung to her skin as she walked towards the office. Being formal In her dressing could give him the cue that she wasn't just any regular blogger. Probably he would understand how committed she was to her job

Her black purse was clutched to her side out of nervousness as she took wobbly steps in. Different thoughts kept going to and fro inside her head as she walked in with a racing heart.

He was dangerous. That was something she knew, even before uploading an article speaking badly against him.

The first person she saw was a blonde, grey-eyed woman behind a counter that had a tag placed on it; RECEPTIONIST. After taking deep breaths, she walked over to the counter with her head up high to show not an ounce of intimidation. There was a chance the receptionist didn't know what transpired between Racheal and her boss, but Racheal didn't care.

"How may I help you ma'am?" she asked with an annoying smile curved on her face as she looked away from the computer in front of her.

"I have an appointment with Xavier Callum" Racheal spoke softly, wondering how she was even able to do that because she was slowly losing herself.

"Your name please?"

"Rachael Anderson" she replied. The receptionist looked back at her screen and nodded slightly.

"Come with me"

The receptionist walked in front of Racheal while she trailed from behind, counting her steps at the same time, thinking of an answer to any possible question he could throw at her. If he doesn't shoot her at sight.

They got to an office after walking forever. For some reason, the receptionist decided to take the staircase instead of the elevator, pissing her off more than she already was.

The door they stopped in, had a bold inscription on it:CEO. Her heart skipped a few beats when she saw it. The receptionist got in first, signaling Racheal to wait behind. She stayed in the office for a while but finally got out.

"You can come in," she said softly. Racheal hadn't realized how nervous she was until she heard her say those words. She couldn't feel her chest anymore. Her heart pounded so hard and fast as she held the doorknob with shaky hands. Swiveling around, she realized the receptionist was already gone.

"You can do this Rachael," She said inwardly, steadying herself as she opened the door.

With her head up high, she walked in. The marble floor embraced her with her heels, making a loud noise with each stride she took. Staring at the office, her mouth dropped in awe. The white aesthetic made the office too exclusive for just an office. Racheal was too overwhelmed by the place, that she almost tripped over one of the little couches that were on the way. She stared from the shelf filled with books, down to the gigantic table on the other side, but she couldn't find him. His seat was empty. With furrowed eyebrows, Racheal sighed in frustration.

"Over here" she heard the familiar husky voice and froze for a split second, but quickly regained herself, as she turned around to look at him. Rachael's mouth dropped, staring at him in disbelief. This wasn't how she imagine him at all. Of course, she couldn't imagine someone who kidnapped her mother as a demi-God with utmost perfection. He looked perfectly groomed, from his taper fade hair cut down to his tuxedo blue suit. He walked towards her with his green eyes not leaving hers. It was incredible how he could pin her down with just a stare.

Racheal swallowed hard, blinking continuously to distract herself from him. That was almost impossible, judging from the fact that he was standing right in front of her. His strong veiny hands were filled with a wine glass.

"You know, I was surprised when I found out you were the one who tried to ruin my reputation," he spoke as a mocking chuckle came forth from his lips. He was acting too calm and she hated it. One thing she noticed was how intense his stare was, yet it couldn't be deciphered. She couldn't tell if he was angry or not, because he made that difficult for her.

All Racheal wanted to know was if her mother was safe or not.

"Where is my mother?" She shot at him and he smirked.

"Safe" he assured her, getting up from where he sat. He walked over to the wine stand and grabbed a glass cup alongside a bottle of wine. He walked back to her and poured the drink into a wine glass. After handing it over to her, he ambled to her back and she gulped, not sure what he was about to do.

Her eyes gazed at the cup, in terror as she swallowed hard, not daring to take a sip. When he noticed her attitude, he slipped his hand down her neck from behind, causing a cold shiver to run down her spine. She quivered in reaction to his touch and couldn't help it. She didn't even dare to turn her head to look at him because she feared she might get lost in his intense green eyes.

His hands left her neck and reached for the glass, took a sip, and then slid it to her front once more.

"Don't worry, I don't poison my offenders. That would be less fun" he spoke, but she couldn't help but shudder in fear as she grabbed the glass and placed it on her shaky lips, gulping the content as the tears threatened to fall.

"Will you kill me?"She asked in a cracked, shaky voice.

"It depends" he fondled her hair, taking everything off her shoulders. Even though she wanted to rebuke him for his behavior, she found her lips too heavy to produce those words. In real sense, she enjoyed the thrills she got from his touch

"On what?" she managed to speak despite the odds

"If you are willing to go on a deal with me," he said, but coldly this time. He left her back and settled in front of her with A mischievous look now evident on his face.

"What deal?"

"Take down the article," said Xavier. She swallowed hard. Magnus was going to come for her if she took down the article against his will.

"What?"The rhythm in her voice was drained.

"Take down the article" he paused. "Upload a new one, regarding how the former was a lie and you have to work for me as my personal blogger. You'll write only what I tell you to"

Rachael breathed in sharply. "I can't"

"You seem to get it all wrong miss Anderson. This wasn't an offer"
