" Nathan." She heard Alicia scream on top of her voice while packing the kids lunch into their bags.

Nimah sat at the corner of the sofa, her legs fondled in front of her. She missed her home, her old family even though they never regarded her as part of them.

She looked around the room, admiring and taking in every detail. Her new home looked more expensive and well furnished than the old one. It had a beautiful Black glass center table with a flower vase on it. Pictures of them hung on the walls. There was a big chandelier in the center of the Sitting room.

" Mom.' Joe screamed as he ran inside the house with his school bag dangling in his hand. ' Warn Kirsten. " He added and rain behind Alicia to take shelter from his annoying twin. The twins were about Twelve years of age and they both looked and acted different. One would never believe they were twins until shown their birth certificate. Joe had Black hair while Kristen had Golden hair. Their skin colours also differed a little. Kristen also appeared more taller and chubby than Joe.

Kristen walked in few seconds later giggling while trying to catch her breath.

" Stop it Kristen, stop trying to beat up your brother." She warned.

" But Mom, he always starts it." Kristen complained sending Joe an angry gaze as he puts his tongue out to mock her. Despite being twins, Joe always acted like the smaller one.

" Joe, get me your brother." She ordered and watched him run up the stairs, screaming his name out loud.

He ran down in few seconds, breathing so heavily.

" He is coming Mom."

" Okay. Hope you guys are ready?." She asked and watched the twins shake their heads in unison.

Nimah watched everything unfold and her heart ached, wishing she had experienced the same too while she was still her family. Out here she felt like a stranger and that clearly was what she was.

How could her parents abandon her? How could they sell off their only daughter? Why did they despise her so much? Was it because....

She didn't want to think about the hurtful memories again. She had promised herself to walk pass it and become a new Nimah.

It was her first time exploring the outside world and she had no idea on what it would be like or the kind of people she would come in contact with. A part of her was happy while the other part was scared, scared of the unseen monsters.

What was she supposed to do while at school? How was she supposed to behave? What was she supposed to say?.

A thousand questions ran through her mind, making her nervous. It made her want to quit, give up and lock herself in her cage. She wasn't sure if she was ready for this, it was just too soon for her coupled with the fact that she clocked Eighteen few days ago.

Ppppiii

The School bud honked loudly from outside.

" Your bus is here guys." She said and handed the lunch boxes over to them. The twins pecked her on the cheek and ran outside happily, chuckling.

Nimah got up from where she sat sluggishly and walked towards Alicia.

Why was she too reluctant to go? Why was her spirit so down all of a sudden? Should she just stay back and run from the outside world all her life?.

She was confused. Up until an hour ago, she had been happy that she was eventually getting the freedom she yearned for.

" Are you ready too?." Alicia asked and placed her right palm on Nimah's arm, sending her a gentle smile.

" Hmm hmm." She hummed in response. A lump of saliva stuck at her throat.

Time to step into the outside world Nimah.

She told herself and let out an heavy sigh.

" Bye Mom." A deep masculine voice said softly with an aura of power and respect.

She turned around in the direction it came from to see an handsome stranger.

How come that was the first time she was seeing him? If this handsome stranger was Nathan then why did she never run into him?.

He had Dark hair styled to the front and beautiful grey eyes that captured her heart. His fallen jawline perfect alongside with an amazingly shaped lips. His dimples showing as he spoke.

When Alicia had told her about her son Nathan, she had thought he was younger or so, not a grown man with beautiful dimples. A man that looked so sexy and took her breath away. He was dressed in White and Black outfit. The way he moved and walked did things to her.

What was her problem with cute guys? Why did they all have an effect on her? Just like the guy she had met back then.

He picked up his phone lying on the corner sofa and walked back to place a kiss on Alicia's cheek.

" Your Lunch." She said, reminding him. She knew he would definitely reject since It had become an habit for him to. Sometimes she wished he would go back to being her cute little boy whom loved eating her deliciously cooked meals.

" Mom, I'm too grown for that." He responded and patted her shoulder softly.

" But you are still my little baby boy. " She said in a playful tone and brought her fingers closer to his face, squeezing his cheek softly.

" Mom...stop." He grumbled and looked in Nimah's direction. He was too grown for all that and it felt more embarrassing to be called that in front of this stranger than before.

Who was this stranger anyway? And why was she staring at him?.

He looked away and placed a cheek on Alicia's cheek before bending to pick up his Black bag which he hung on his shoulder and walked out.

" Nathan, can you please put her through school.' She screamed after him and then faced Nimah. ' He will help you out."

Nimah nodded and picked up her bag too before running after him not wanting to miss the bus.

The Yellow striped with Black bus stopped in front of the entrance to the big building painted in White. There stood a big signboard in front of the building which read Marvel high school.

She could see the students giggling, some chuckling and some laughing while chatting. They were all getting down from the bus and heading in whatever direction they were headed to.

The ladies were all dressed in White Shirt, Black Skirt and Black tie around their necks while the guys were on White Shirt, Black Trouser and Black tie too.

She was too scared to get down. It was her first day at an high school and she had no idea on what it would look or be like.

Would they also treat her like her parents did? Will they also despise her and lock her up somewhere? Or would they like her even though she didn't like herself?.

" Are you getting down too." She heard a deep masculine voice say and turned to see the driver staring down at her, his White lens and Black hand glasses sitting on the brink of his nose. He was fully dressed in Black, it looked like a uniform to her. He also had on a Black cap on his head.

" I...I..I will. " She stammered and picked up her Black bag gently, walking out of the bus.

She heard the bus zoom off and stood there, staring at the students as they trooped in. Her heart skipping. Her legs shaking.

What was she supposed to do next? Where was she headed to in particular?.

She wasn't on uniform yet and had no idea on where her classroom was. Alicia had said something about it on the day she was first informed about her starting school. She couldn't describe how she had really felt that day. Never for once had the thought ever crossed her mind. She doubted that she was the type that wanted to learn or be educated. All she wanted was to be free and explore the world. She would only learn if it would help her achieve her dream.

She could barely remember anything Alicia had said to her and Nathan clearly wasn't in sight. It was as though he had tried avoiding her on purpose or did he not hear his Mother's last words.

She was confused on what to do but it was better to head in than stand there and watch the hot sun melt her skin. Not like she had a pretty skin since she never had a chance to take care of it but she didn't want it to worsen.

Go in Chicken Nimah.

She teased herself and chuckled, trying to lighten her own mood and give herself some courage.

She took another deep breath and sighed as she stepped into the building, hoping things would turn out great.
