Chapter 4

Charlotte's POV

"Please wait! I've seen you before!"

I tried to shout out to stop him, but I failed. He was as agile as if running was his instinct. I tried to keep up with him, but he was running too fast.

I chased him under a high wall and he stopped and looked back at me. I looked at him, and he looked at me. We didn't speak, in silence.

"Hey! You don't have to run away! I didn't come here to catch you!"

I unfolded my hands, indicating to him that I was not carrying any weapons.

"Please don't be nervous, I don't mean you any harm. I just wanted to thank you for taking action to save me last time at the border of Wind Pack."

I slowly moved closer to him, but he took two guarded steps back.

"How can you be sure that I saved you?" He said to me in a low voice.

I couldn't see his expression behind the mask, but his mesmerizing blue eyes made me lose my concentration for a moment.

I didn't know how to answer him for a moment, in fact I just assumed with a strong feeling of foreboding that this black-haired guy was the one who rescued me last time.

"It's your black hair. You have the same black hair as him." I said, pointing to his hair.

"I don't know, I just feel like you're him." I couldn't help but tell him the truth, and I felt shy for my weakness of heart.

He stared at me with his beautiful blue eyes until I raised my fist and pretended to cough and he took his eyes off my face.

I thought I heard him give a laugh, and then he turned around and jumped over the high wall with a wave of his sleeve.

"Hey! You haven't told me your name!" I hurriedly chased after him. But without a moment's notice, I could only see his black back disappearing from the other side of the wall.

I had to give up chasing him. In the following days, whenever I had free time, I would go to the Black Night Pack office in Wind Pack to look for the blue-eyed man's traces. But obviously, I always came up empty.

Today, I didn't need to stay on duty at Wind Pack Hospital, so I went for a stroll around the office with the mindset of yet another failure. I wanted to see if the florist had returned so I could buy some beautiful bouquets of roses and decorate my room properly.

I arrived at the entrance of the flower store and luckily the florist was back today and also brought back many flowers. Many girls were attracted by the sunflowers and perfumed lilies blooming in front of the store and wanted to buy a bunch to keep at home.

I chose a bunch of roses that were blooming quite well and stood in a long line in front of the store.

"The flowers are so fresh today." A woman in front of me in line buried her face in the bouquet and said to me.

"Yes, look, the petals still have dew on them." I touched the soft petals of the roses, nodded silently and agreed.

"Bam!" A loud bang exploded not far from my body. I was shocked and turned around to see what the sound was.

It turned out to be a flower pot that fell beside me, and it fell to the ground and broke into many pieces. I looked up to the source of the falling flower pot, and a little boy was lying on the railing with his mouth covered.

"Excuse me! Lady!" He shouted to me and I waved my hand at him, "Don't worry! I'm fine! I'm fine!"

And I spotted something even more interesting around him.

A man with blond hair was standing not far from the boy, also sizing me up with a not-so-friendly gaze.

I made to think back, I had thought I had no room to feel suspicious. Because for so many days I hadn't been able to find a way to enter the Blackout Pack.

But my eyes met each other with the blond haired man's, and I immediately thought of the dark haired man I had met the other day.

"The two of them give me such a similar feeling. " I thought, my eyes glued to the blond man's face without moving.

I noticed that the blond man was frowning at me, and I didn't understand what I had done wrong to piss him off. So much so that he kept staring at me with an unfriendly look.

"Hey! Why do you keep doing that? What did you find on my face?"

I held up the rosebud in my hand and shook it at him. This man had really managed to pique my curiosity, and I felt offended by his approach. I needed him to provide me with a reason as to why he kept staring at me.

I made myself expressionless as I waited. He continued to stare hard at me. His gaze swept over me. Fortunately, he only lasted like that for about five minutes before he turned away.

"What a freak." I muttered to myself, but didn't let this strange man ruin my good mood of buying flowers to decorate my room.

I paid the florist and went home.

From the day I met this strange blond man, I was no longer allowed to go back to the office to inquire about going in to the Blackout Pack.

I had a hunch that it had to have something to do with that mysterious man. But I couldn't find any evidence to prove my hunch.

Ronald's POV

A month ago, inside the castle of the Black Night Pack. I pushed open the heavy wooden door and entered my father's study.

A man was sitting in a chair, his back to the floor-to-ceiling window, pondering over a file on his desk. He furrowed his brow and rubbed his brow.

"Ronald, you're finally here." My father, Charlie Carson, who was the Alpha of the Blackout Pack.

"Yes." I found myself a seat across from my father.

"Those senior leaders in the Wolf Pack have been acting strange lately." Charlie rubbed his forehead and and handed me a file in front of him.

I took the document and looked at it carefully. It was as if my brain was struck hard, and I locked my eyes on the leaders' folk names.

"How dare they openly trade in slaves! The Black Night Pack has long since banned the smuggling and trading of slaves. How dare they?" My voice sounded like I had been whipped.

"These abominations, relying on the fact that they have some military force in their hands, dare to go against the laws of the Wolf Pack." Charlie soothed as he watched his son shatter the glass of water sitting on the table in anger.

"Hey Ronald, I need you to calm down a little. Don't put your energy into getting angry with these people. I need you to covertly investigate how these beautiful slaves got into the homes of the wolf pack executives. As well as find ways to stop this from happening again."

I nodded and looked at the document thoughtfully.

Coming out of Charlie's study, I called up the Beta of the Blackout Pack, Tyler.

"Tayler, I need to get away from the Blackout Pack for a while. In the meantime, you will manage everything on my behalf. Also help me go find out any information you can about the biggest slave trader in the Blackout Pack. I need to go and fix some problems."

"Yes, I'll get right on it!"

I always praised Tyler for his efficiency in getting things done. That night, I went to Wind Pack in disguise and followed the biggest smuggling slave trader in the Black Night Pack.

The caravan stopped at the Wind Pack border, and I escaped from the group, wanting to go to the Wolf Pack border alone to check if there was any other useful information.

On the bank of a river, I noticed a skinny girl actually picking on two strong and vicious wolves.

This girl piqued my interest, "Shouldn't she be hiding in a forest covering her face and crying?" I thought with puzzlement.

I didn't want to be nosy, but my legs and feet stopped uncontrollably.

I put on my mask and jumped to a fork of a tree and hid. I was curious about this particularly bold girl, and I noticed that she was trying to save another girl. And that girl had long since passed out.

"Girls are really doddering flowers. When they encounter an enemy stronger than themselves they just pass out or just cry there." I sat on a branch, I didn't want to spend time now watching this drama that I seemed to be able to guess the ending of.

The two werewolves were constantly molesting the bold girl with nasty remarks, and the girl kept backing away as I had predicted. I was somewhat tempted to leave.

But, I noticed that it didn't seem to be true.

The girl violently drew her dagger and stabbed the werewolf on her left!

I couldn't believe my eyes, but the next thing I knew, the girl gave me more surprises.

I stared at the girl, her agile figure resembling a handsome cheetah.

"To be honest, her martial arts skills are really not bad." I had to admit.

I thought expectantly that maybe she could kill all the remaining werewolves. But the girl's physical strength gradually couldn't support her, and just at the moment she was about to be bitten by the werewolves, I used my marbles to help her kill the werewolves.

"Damn!" I was regretting that I had exposed my whereabouts, so I rushed to escape.

I found David, the head of the Blackout Pack's office in Wind Pack. David was a very smooth werewolf who didn't like to work according to set rules. This suited my idea, and I needed a smart werewolf like him.

I told David, "I need access to Wind Pack and I need you to help me investigate something."

I settled in at Wind Pack with his help in a reasonable, non-suspicious capacity.

But unfortunately, the cheetah-like girl spotted me when I was out on the street investigating. She was so smart that she almost guessed that I was the one who saved her life at the Wind Pack border.

I had to run like a wild pig in order not to reveal my whereabouts and purpose for coming to Wind Pack.

"Looks like I'll have to hide this damned brunette before someone finds out." I thought silently, walking wearily into a barbershop.

"Sir, are you sure you want to dye your black hair blonde? Do you need to reconsider? Black hair is very rare and precious when it comes to the werewolf pack." The barber couldn't believe what I was asking, and he hesitated to do it with scissors in his hand.

"Well, you just go ahead and do it." I nodded my head.

"All right. As you wish, sir."

I sat in the barbershop and watched helplessly as the barber dyed my precious black hair blonde.

Leaving the barbershop, I went to see David to discuss how to strengthen the security of the office annex.
