Chapter 4: The Beginning of the Conspiracy

Colin's POV.

It was dark and humid, I couldn't see a bit of light, I thought the conditions at The Tomb Soil Center would be slightly better, it was totally my delusion.

Those people thought they could do whatever they wanted to me by luring me to such a place.

Delia had always said that noble packs were more likely to have some stupid guys in them, and she wasn't wrong.

From behind me there was a sudden rustling sound, and I deliberately acted as if I hadn't noticed it and kept walking forward.

Such a sound became more and more obvious.

The other party was moving very fast, and judging by the sound, it seemed that there was more than one person staring at me.

Thinking about what happened at the banquet yesterday.

My gaze gradually became icy cold.

After roughly judging the distance of the other party, I turned into a path where no one would appear, and the road beneath my feet became even more slippery and sticky.

The sound of footsteps disappeared.

The other side probably also sensed my intentions, I could not detect the scent of other people like the Alpha, so, before the other side did not show up, I was not even sure that those guys who wanted to make a move on me had left or not.

However, they were less composed than me.

I was in a moment to feel the killing intent, the feeling came from the top of my head, when I jerked my head to look, those bastards had leaped up and lunged at me.

Perhaps in order to settle this matter immediately, they did not avoid the rules here, transformed into half-wolf form right in the city, and those sharp claws did not know how many people's throats they had torn.

But--

I called them scum because they couldn't even touch a hair on my head.

And that's true.

If there was anything in the world faster than me, it would only be lightning on a thunderstorm.

My lower legs were hard and I stomped off the ground in a flash, my body felt off-balance as I went into the air, but the next second I landed firmly on the ground.

After retracting my hands on the ground, the werewolf was standing where I was.

His eyes had a vague green glow, and he looked at me as if he were looking at a dead man.

"I told you a long time ago, Duncan, dealing with such a person does not need to waste much time, you have to wait until now." The werewolf standing in front of me said in a reproachful tone, he did not say this to me.

At this moment, I had felt the breath behind me.

The werewolf named Duncan looked very upset, and he swept me with a contemptuous gaze. Perhaps because he didn't consider me as a respectable opponent, both his attitude and tone were light-hearted, "Lyme, don't let others see that he is just an ordinary beta, but he doesn't look that easy to deal with."

This time, I was more sure that they came to me because of what happened yesterday.

Lyme who heard these words showed a mocking smile, "I really don't know how on earth she sees you, let me do it this time, Duncan, don't get in my way, cowardly people don't deserve any honor."

I wasn't able to get much more out of their words, because the werewolf named Lyme had already attacked me.

He was also very fast and moved with a harshness that reminded me of a meteorite falling from the sky at the moment his fist landed.

And the power in him made me feel inexplicably excited.

I thought of the lion that tore into me in the Tal forest, and the moment I tore it apart, the thrill was so great that I could find no substitute for it.

Now, I had that feeling again.

I grabbed Lyme's wrist, and his claws were as sharp as knives, easily slicing open my not-quite-recovered wounds.

The smell of blood became pungent, and it gave me the same feeling of excitement.

I felt the blood burning all over my body.

At the moment I couldn't control my body, Lyme's other hand reached for my neck.

I couldn't explain why my senses suddenly became ten times more acute at that instant, and I didn't even need to look back to see exactly what direction Lyme's hand was reaching from to anticipate his movements.

With the surge of airflow, I squeezed his wrist when the claw was only a few millimeters from my throat.

"It's too slow."

I said this in his ear, and before he had time to show his surprise, his whole body was flipped over.

Lyme was flipped over by me like a giant kite, and I grabbed his head to hold him down on the ground.

Blood slowly flowed from his nose, Lyme's pupils began to lapse, and I watched as his hands gradually returned to their original shape and the rippling veins on his arms faded away.

I didn't kill him, he just lost consciousness because of the violent impact on his head.

But now I couldn't relax.

Before I could let go of Lyme, a killing intent came from behind me.

I jerked back and Duncan was already kicking at me.

At this critical moment, I had to urgently reach out and block his attack with my small arm.

After the first round of fighting, he seemed to recognize my movements in a flash.

Duncan saw that his attack was blocked, and did not intend to continue to use brute force to inflict damage on me. He flexibly withdrew his legs, and in the next second, he swung a punch directly at my temple.

He wanted to kill me.

Even if this punch did not kill me, I would be in the same situation as Lyme.

My sweat hairs stood up in a flash, the state of nervous tension, I only rely on my instincts to dodge Duncan's attack.

I could feel the wind in my ears because of the swinging of my fist, and my gaze became sharper as I seized the best moment after he missed.

I flew close to him and before he realized what I was planning to do, I had struck my opponent hard in the stomach with my elbow.

Duncan's face turned very ugly for a moment and he had to back up and pull away from me, and during this gaping period, Duncan didn't seem to have any intention of continuing his attack.

It was a smart decision, unless he wanted to become like Lyme in the next second.

Duncan knew how to observe his prey beforehand and then look for the right opportunity to strike, and he wanted to hit me right in the gut.

But not everyone had the strength and speed I couldn't match.

Duncan's ploy, no matter how clever, looked stupid and weak in the face of crushing strength.

"You look powerful, and if you are the Alpha, there are bound to be many people following you." He suddenly said something that didn't make any sense.

My eyes narrowed: "I don't need your evaluation, and you'd better leave before I kill you."

"Are you really just a beta?" Duncan's expression had changed from shock just now to envy, and his gaze was as if he was glued to my body.

In fact, it was normal for Duncan not to believe in my identity, and sometimes even I doubted this question.

But I had not awakened, and could not transform my form like the Alpha and ordinary werewolf. Beta was a powerful yet special being, born to serve the true leader.

Moreover, I had no reason to betray.

My allegiance had never been to a pack; my allegiance was to Delia.

"I am giving you the opportunity to leave."

I hadn't finished what Mona had let me do, and I couldn't continue to waste time with them. Considering the issue of the time it took to kill someone, I would love for these people to consider the seriousness of the matter for themselves and get the hell out of my sight.

Otherwise, even if I was scolded by Mona, there wouldn't be anything to stop me.

Duncan seemed to want to say something else as he looked over at Lyme lying on the ground.

"We're just the beginning, take the message to your Alpha, your actions are too inviting, don't go any further or it won't just be the likes of us that come for you next time." Duncan finished speaking, and left the place with Lyme.

After Duncan said those words, I suddenly regretted letting them go just like that.

Those people had nothing to do with what happened last night.

Mona gave me the matter I could only temporarily put aside, right now there were more important things to do.

However, the moment I turned around, I felt a sharp pain in my heart. The feeling came from the bottom of my heart, and my heart felt like someone had stabbed me hard.

This sharp pain was more unbearable than any injury I had received before.

The pain that spread from the inside of my body was completely different from the superficial injury. I could even accept having my limbs chopped off, and there was no way to stay calm under such severe pain.

The pain was gradually replaced by fear, and I desperately wanted to find something, but I didn't know exactly what I wanted.

In this moment, I thought of Delia, and a strong desire drove me to see her right now.

But eventually, the feeling disappeared.

I couldn't find the cause of this feeling, after the pain disappeared, it was just a hot body, my hands and feet could not use the strength, if not my determination was strong enough, I must have fallen to the ground.

My forehead was overflowing with sweat, and even my face I could imagine how ugly it really was.

I wondered if this situation was an after-effect of the fight with them just now or not, but the feeling soon disappeared completely, along with the sudden sense of loss that had just arisen, and I turned my head to look in the direction Duncan had left.

At this moment, alarm bells rang inside me.

If it wasn't for the sweat on my body, I would have suspected that everything that had just happened was a hallucination.

I had to go back and see Delia right now.

No matter who it was, Duncan's words were the key. Our purpose had been detected by some, and protecting Delia was the only thing I had to do when things reached an irreversible point.
