Chapter 4

Celestine just stared at Kobe for a minute before she asked, "Nervous? I do not know what nervous is, so I could not tell if I am feeling it or not," she answered. "The only nervous that I know is the nervous system of the human body that was tackled when I was in elementary and high school," she added.

Grant was awed by her answer. He knew Celestine for a long time, but he admits that there is still time that he caught him off guard by her innocence.

"Can you tell me what nervous is? I do not really have an idea about it," she asked Grant curiously.

Grant sighed because he had to explain Celestine again like what he always did. He did not know how to explain it to her, so he asked her.

"What do you feel right now?" he asked while reading Celestine"s face, even if it was unreadable.

"Feeling? Hmmm... I just feel my heart is racing, and someone was drumming it," Celestine answered him honestly.

"Why do you think you feel that way?"

"I do not know. I have no idea."

Grant sighed and exhaled again. Celestine has always been like this, so he had to ask more, and he needed to use the other knowledge that Celestine had in her mind to give her the answer she needed easily. Since she talked about the nervous system in science earlier, Grant used it to feed her information.

"What was the last thing you see or heard before you felt your heart racing? Because as you can see, based on science, there is a basic function under the nervous system—the autonomous nervous system. Under this autonomous nervous system, there are two parts, and those are—"

"—The sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system," Celestine finished what Grant has to say. She knew what Grant was telling her, but she was still confused as to why a person feels nervous.

On the other hand, Grant nodded as he was glad that Celestine knew what the nervous system was. She just looked at him as she said, and later on, she asked.

"I know the two parts of the autonomous nervous system, but what is that got to do with my question? Is nervous an emotion that has something to do with the stimulus or not?"

"Yes. Nervous is an emotion that has something to do with a certain stimulus; that was why I asked earlier. What was the last thing you heard or seen before you felt like someone was drumming your heart?" Grant asked Celestine that question for the second time. Celestine"s bored eyes looked at the floor and stared there for a minute as if she was thinking carefully about his question.

Moments later, she looked up at Grant then spoke.

"I guess I felt this feeling the moment I heard the emcee talking about we are getting married. That was where it all started," she said nonchalantly. Her indifferent face really seemed like she was not really interested, but why did she feel nervous?

Grant stared at Celestine"s face for a long time. Reading and analyzing her even if he does not see any changes on it. It remained calm, uninterested, and bored. But Grant knew that he should not judge the book by its cover, the same as he should not judge Celestine just because she was emotionless.

Grant understands Celestine"s situation—being emotionally numb because he knows for a fact that he also has a severe medical condition. Celestine and Grant are mainly the opposite of each other.

Celestine is emotionally numb, and him being physically numb.

"What are you feeling now?" Grant asked Celestine after analyzing her face.

"We both know that I could not tell what I was feeling," she said.

"I mean, internally, Celestine. What do you feel inside your body?"

"Aside from my heart feeling like someone is hammering it, I feel hands and feet are cold. I am shaking inside, but I do not know what the specific reason was," she said.

"Are you... hmmm... against marrying me?" Grant asked Celestine as that was the only reason he could think of why Celestine suddenly felt nervous without her knowing it.

When Celestine heard his question, she looked at him and shook her head.

"No. Why would why?" she asked.

"Hmmm... I do not know. I just thought you were against it because you said you felt nervous when you heard about our marriage."

"I am nervous, and I do not know why, but I am pretty that I am not against marrying you," Celestine said as a small smile crept into her lips, and Grant was taken aback.

Celestine smiled! Not a wide smile, though! But she still smiled at me!" Kobe said to himself as he was really shocked by Celestine"s sudden attack.

The whole family or the Catorse Family knew that Celestine had a tutor helping her determine and copy other people"s emotions. That was also some advice from her family"s therapist. Since her condition requires a lot of experience, she started utilizing her knowledge like giving a little trim from everyone, and that is what she did/

Kobe did not expect to receive a small smile from Celestine, but he was glad.

"You smiled," Grant said after his recovery seeing Celestine smiling.

"I have been practicing. Mom always goes ballistic if I am not using what I have learned."

Grant chuckled at what she heard. Knowing Tia Bettina, she will surely go ballistic.

Grant and Celestine were still on the stage talking to each other when the emcee spoke again.

"Since the announcement of the marriage between Millstein and Wilheim has done, I am proud to announce that the roaring lion of the Catorse Family culture has now begun! And the first-ever couples that will reunite the culture of fourteen families are no other than Grant and Celestine! Again, let us give them a round of applause and be sure to rock the party tonight! Get wasted, everyone!"
