Chapter 9
Ethan sensed that she was afraid, he hadn't had the emotion of fear for a long time, or rather he hadn't had it since he was born. He has always been relaxed and calm, without much empathy, and there were very few people or things in this world that could make him feel emotions.
For the first time, he understood her fear keenly.
Not to be able to consider from her shivering body or frightened look, but subconsciously from her position.
He also felt terrible.
She's still so young, still a delicate little girl, how she's going to conceive a child is scary to even think about.
He moved his pale eyes to Bradley's face, and gave him a warning. Bradley didn't feel good about saying this in Ethan's house, either, especially since his Suppressor felt frightened by his words.
Her lips were still stained with some of the gravy from the steak, with some delicate innocence. She held her plate in both hands, frowning pitifully, her pretty eyes filled with mist.
Ethan wanted to reassure her, but it was against his usual style to do so in such a crowded setting. He did not want to talk about this topic, but wanted to talk about another one, which was inspired by what just happened to Bradley.
But for the first time in his life, he had scruples.
He lowered his eyes again to the young girl at his feet, who was still frightened and timid, and whose next words might make her even more uncomfortable.
He pondered for a moment, gazed at her and whispered, "Would you like to go to the storage room for a while?" His eyes moved down to the plate she was holding in both hands and tried to communicate with her, "I'll have some food prepared, are you full? Would you like to have another steak?"
Norma struggled to discern his meaning, pursing her lips to slowly calm herself down, so frightened was she, like a bird flying under other s roof.
"I'm full." She said timidly, in fact, even if she was not full, she could not eat anymore.
Ethan could see that she was just holding on, she must not have eaten enough, but she was naturally easily scared when she arrived in a new environment. He whispered to the servants at the side to prepare some fruits for her and sent them to the Suppressor storage room.
Ethan's family would not have had such a thing, but after witnessing his friends treat Suppressor with that slutty attitude, he still prepared such a room, not for anything else, at least these scared Suppressors can get a chance to breathe.
He watched her back disappear under the eaves of the porch to the end of the Suppressor storage room, she was still wearing that silk-like nightgown that showed her back and it could be seen her beautiful butterfly bones caged under the silk nightgown. Even in extreme panic, she still straightened her spine, so that she looked like a swan forced to leave the flock.
Only after confirming that she had entered the Suppressor storage room unharmed with another Suppressor did he leisurely withdraw his eyes and lowered his head to take a sip of coffee.
Bradley felt something strange, but couldn't put his finger on it. Unable to figure it out, he once again attributed it to the Alpha's sense of territory and urged, "What do you think? You take her home, there's a lot going on out there."
Ethan's tone was calm, he was always this cold and calm when it came to business, "I don't see Suppressor the same way my father does, and what they call 'peace' isn't really peace."
He sighed inwardly for a long time about this matter, and he could not keep inhibition with the present herd.
In current society, the werewolf pack was divided into the radical faction and the peaceful faction, the biggest contradiction was in the way Suppressor was treated, the radical faction had always believed that Suppressor has inhibitor in its genes, as long as they find it, Suppressor would have no need to exist, so that was why they searched and killed Suppressor in a big scale. That was why they have been searching for and killing Suppressors.
The pacifist Suppressor was not the same as the peace of centuries ago, and their attitude toward Suppressor was limited to protecting their physical and mental health as much as possible, but they still maintained a wait-and-see attitude toward true equality, without crossing the line.
Ethan had no opinion on this, except that all kinds of struggles were boring and breathless to him.
But he was the only son of the family, born to have to learn to solve these troubles. Long ago the wolves wanted to live in peace with the Suppressor race and used intermarriage to solve the problem of suppressing bestiality. The relationship between them was equal, and the female Suppressors had their own work, study and life, and they were free to walk down the street and choose whether they wanted to marry a werewolf or not.
But after these hundreds of years of wolves encroaching on Suppressor's dignity inch by inch, they had also become the most inferior plaything, also they had been accustomed to Suppressor was the property of wolves, aggression and torture from time to time, the recent decades, like a breakthrough of the last bottom line of shame, even Suppressor Breeding Center was not ready to let go.
Even the current pacifists were only concerned with their physical and mental health.
"The Suppressor Breeding Center has sent out a series of requests for help, the number of female Suppressors has been decreasing dramatically, yesterday I saw a few of the Twilight family's children in Spring City, one of the Suppressors just pregnant was taken away by them." Bradley said these things, the tone is quite a bit helpless, he was born debauched, these years is not without thinking about buying a few more Suppressor, but actually just can not buy.
The family named Twilight was the leader of the radical werewolves, and over the years their rivalry had been fast approaching the point where they were at odds with each other, maintaining only superficial decency.
"Now that you have too much energy, why not give money to support the drug research center, to update the real inhibitor?" Ethan got a headache hearing what Bradley just said, with the emotion in his eyes fading like a tide, and his tone was rather cold, "What good can it do if Suppressors died out."
Bradley wanted to say, but as Ethan s best friend, he immediately understood what Ethan meant, then he said, "Of course no good, but in the past Suppressor Breeding Center could at least ensure the supply of major groups. Now it has come to this point, we are in a lot of trouble, a few of my cousins could not buy more Suppressors. "
Ethan watched him frown in annoyance and couldn't help but sneer, "Maybe if you wait a little longer, your Suppressor will be pregnant, and then wait a few decades, maybe it will be their turn."
He said this to mock Bradley strange whim, as he always thought of the little girl's frightened face, he wanted to stab his friend twice, or at least let him judge the situation and learn to look at his emotions.
Bradley blushed and subconsciously said, "Are you kidding me? That's my Suppressor, how old is she?"
Ethan raised his eyebrows in surprise, and Bradley, who didn't notice his look at all, looked like he was in a hurry to prove something and said out of turn, "Those little bastards are also worthy? Even their bloodline is not pure, how dare they covet my Suppressor?"
He stopped talking before the words were finished.
His face turned red as if he had finally realized what a mess he had made of it, and Ethan said irritably, "You know how old she is, what are you talking about?"
The two were speechless. Bradley's brain slowly cooled down and he was chagrined, thinking what he was just babbling about and how he somehow said this.
But why would Ethan want to set his Suppressor with his own untalented cousins by saying that Myrna was young and she was definitely going to have children, but how old would she actually be? Even if she did give birth to a beautiful little girl, what would that have to do with those little bastards who confused bloodlines?
But what couldn t be said? Although he and his cousins had an average relationship, they were also clansmen, and Myrna was just a trivial Suppressor, an object of his only, what could not be said?
Ethan noticed his growing frown and sighed at his own slip of the tongue, he didn't want to dwell on the subject with his best friend. The Suppressor was, in current society, the private property of werewolves, and for him to talk about people's private property in front of them was akin to Bradley keeping his attention on Norma.
He could do it, but it's not necessary, and very rude.
"Okay, stop this conversation." He irritably scratched his hair in front of his forehead with his fingers, a gesture that made him extraordinarily attractive, only no one appreciated it, "I know what you said, I'll figure it out, you're always on my side, right?"
Bradley responded to him without thinking, "That's for sure!"
After saying that he suddenly thought of one more thing, if his buddy succeeded in inhibitor research, then he and his own Suppressor would... And what would be the relationship?
"Anyway, you have to be careful with everything too, I got word that that Alpha of the Twilight family, yes, that Ash, he is a four-legged simple-minded fool, God knows how he got into the heir's seat. He already knew about your purchase of a beautiful Suppressor at the Suppressor store, and will probably use it as a talking point afterwards, and it's recently come to parliament, so beware of him going crazy. You've attacked them before with the sale of Suppressors, and there's no telling what he's going to do now." He added, doing his best to keep his mind off what comes after that.
"I got it." Ethan nodded as he looked out the window, a line of people were walking in with a tall werewolf.
It was his father who came.
Both men saluted respectfully, Ethan kept his salute and whispered, "What are your orders?"
His father was always satisfied with this single son, and he was bringing a message this time.
He told the two of them, tomorrow there would be a party held by Ash, issued by the name of Twilight. It would be an unprecedented event and they must attend. Ash hoped Ethan can attend, but he also made a special offer that Ethan could take his beautiful Suppressor together."
"Got it." He said steadily, "I'll bring her to attend."
Ethan and Bradley looked at each other, and they both understood that it was most likely a banquet with bad intentions, and that Ash thought he had them by the balls and couldn't wait to get his hands dirty!
The three men were silent, each with his own thoughts.
Ethan's father and he had the same blood, and even Ethan was more like his father, when the two were silent, the side of the face was a bit similar, his father still occupied the position of the head of the family in these years, but in fact, people in the community knew that he had delegated affairs to his only son, whether it was decision-making or banquet, he was also very trustworthy.
It was the difference between Ash and Ethan, Ethan had his father's favor, and Ash, although he was also an Alpha, still had to fight with the family siblings to compete for the position of the heir.
