Chapter 4

Lydia's POV

I slowly opened my eyes and saw a pure white ceiling with an exquisite totem painted on it, which was a pure white wolf, looking very majestic.

A sharp pain came from my head, causing me to let out a controlled huff.

"You're awake?" A voice rang out in my head, "I'm Nina, your wolf, I'm sorry I didn't fully awaken until the moment you jumped off the waterfall, I didn't protect you."

A pair of green wolf eyes came to my mind and were staring at me apologetically.

My wolf? So, not only did I not die when I jumped off the waterfall, but I awakened my wolf!

No longer caring about the painful signals my mind was sending me, I tried to talk to Nina with my mind, "You don't need to feel sorry for that, if it wasn't for you, I would probably be dead already, wouldn't I?"

Nina's voice finally stopped sounding so sad, "Yes, our first transformation went very well, and you and I both came through it very smoothly."

"So ... where am I now?" I asked Nina, after all, this didn't look like my home or any of the Dawn Pack's places.

"I don't know, my strength ran out after I swam to shore and I passed out." Nina's voice became a little smaller, and I could feel that she was still apologetic about it, as if she was blaming herself for not protecting me.

A man with a glass of water walked in, and when he saw my eyes open, he gave me a good-natured smile, "You're awake?"

The man had light brown hair and looked very kind, no matter what, kinder than that Elvis.

"Did you save me?" I propped myself up and sat up.

"Yes, I saw a red wolf fainting on the bank at the headwaters of the river, you know, red wolves are so special, so I saved you and took you back." The man sat on the edge of the bed and handed me the glass of water, "My name is Joseph, I am the beta of Glory Pack Alpha Larissa. Here is your medicine, drink it down and then I will take you to Larissa."

I obediently took the glass of water Joseph handed me and took the medicine without even asking.

Joseph looked at my crisp movements, raised an eyebrow, smiled and asked me, "Don't you doubt my words at all? And what a simple little girl."

Nina also questioned me in my head, "What if he poisons you?"

I wiped my mouth with my sleeve and said indifferently, "If you were going to hurt me, why did you pick me up? You could have killed me when you saw me at the river instead of bothering to heal my wounds and then doing it."

At this point I noticed that I was not wearing the same clothes that I was wearing when I jumped off the waterfall. I was wearing a larger set of clothes with the same white wolf totem tattooed on the ceiling, with the words "Glory Pack" under the totem. So this is the totem of Glory Pack.

"You're quite a clever wolf." Noticing me staring at my clothes, Joseph smiled, "I didn't change them for you, you can rest assured."

I nodded, "I'm good, take me to your Alpha."

By this time, whoever changed my clothes for me, I actually didn't care anymore, I had just been rejected by my own mate and sold by my adoptive parents to an older man, only to reap the benefits of the disaster - I had awakened my wolf.

The most important thing for me then was how to make myself stronger, and I must make both Kelly's family and Elvis pay.

Well, it might be a little hard to make Elvis pay, but at least I could make him regret it for rejecting me.

Joseph smiled as he stood up and led me to the door of Glory Pack Alpha's room.

"Go inside, Larissa is waiting for you." Joseph looked at me and said, "Don't be nervous and scared, Larissa is a great Alpha, just tell her where you're from and what's going on, maybe she'll help you."

I looked at Joseph suspiciously, curious as to why he would know that I wanted to ask Larissa to help me become stronger.

"It doesn't seem that you lost your footing and fell into a waterfall with those cuts." Joseph shrugged his shoulders, "The river doesn't hurt people like that."

Without asking Joseph again, who was indeed a very smart man, I knocked on the door of the room and heard a muffled voice from inside, "Come in."

I pushed open the door to the room, which was dimly lit, and a chair with a high back rested behind a table, the back of which blocked Larissa out so that I could only see her hand propped up on the armrest. It was a hand that looked like it was quite powerful, worthy of alpha of a wolf pack.

"My name is Lydia, from the Dawn Pack ..." I hung my head and began to recount my story.

By the time I had finished telling all that had happened, about twenty minutes had passed, and that was after I had omitted all emotions.

"So, if I didn't take it wrong, you want to learn how to become a powerful werewolf in our Glory Pack, right?" Larissa's hand propped up on the armrest moved a little.

"Yes." I looked up at the back of my chair, "Please take me in."

Larissa turned her chair around and faced me head-on. It was the first time I had ever been alone with an Alpha, and the powerful aura made me shrink back as I couldn't control myself.

"Don't be afraid, I feel like she's being friendly to us." Nina said in my head, "Believe it or not, she was moved to tears by your story."

What? When I heard Nina's words, I looked up in disbelief and peeked at Larissa, who indeed had tears in her eyes and they were a little red.

"Ma'am?" I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do, did my story really sound that bad? Enough to make even a powerful Alpha shed tears for me?

Larissa wiped her tears with her hand, stood up directly propped up on her chair, rushed to my side with great speed and put me in her arms, "Finally ... finally ..."

"Finally what?" I didn't move and let this great lady hold me, she looked so upset I thought I'd better just stand still.

"Finally, I found you!" Larissa took my face in her hands, "Look! Look! Look at your bright red hair, look at your green eyes, who dares to say you are not Larissa's daughter?"

"Wait, what?" I was a little shocked and my words became stuttered.

I thought this lady must be crazy, otherwise why would she think I am her daughter? Although I was indeed the child Amara and Dylan picked up, I was picked up within the premises of Dawn Pack. Dawn Pack and Glory Pack, one at upstream of the falls and another one at downstream of the falls, and if I hadn't jumped into the falls, I probably wouldn't have come here in my life.

Larissa's eyes were filled with tears, but the smile on her face was very genuine.

"See, here's the proof. Evidence that you are my bloodline." The voice that belonged to Larissa rang in my head, "Family members can communicate using mind links, and at this moment I am doing so."

She was right, what she said was true!

I was speechless with amazement that in just half an hour I had found the one I had never seen in eighteen years, my real mother, and she was an Alpha! Associated with the fact that I had only just awakened to my wolf, I had some low self-esteem and worried that Larissa would think I wasn't strong enough like everyone else.

"Do you think I'm too weak after I fell down the waterfall before I got my own wolf?" I asked Larissa nervously, while staring at her, afraid I would miss a single expression on her face.

Larissa's eyes showed a trace of heartache, she gently stroked my hair, "I heard what you just said ..., I will not let you suffer that kind of aggravation again, in the future you will be as honored as me in Glory Pack, and I will train you to be the next Alpha."

"Wait, becoming an Alpha?" I snapped out of my joy at finding my real mother, "I don't think that's a good idea."

As Elvis said, I was not a powerful person, could I really be the alpha heir to the wolf pack?

"Listen to me, I know that in your life before, many people questioned you and thought you couldn't do it." Larissa's voice was so calm that one couldn't help but believe her, "But you're my daughter, you can do it. See, I'm a very rare female Alpha, aren't I?"

I was deeply moved by Larissa's words. Wasn't that what I wanted? Besides, she's still my mom.

Nina was also so happy for me that she almost sang in my heart.

With tears in her eyes, Larissa touched her hand to the scars on my face from the glass and branches, "I can't believe that my daughter has suffered so much. I have done so many, many good things over the years in hopes that you would be treated well by others as well. I can't imagine that's how God has rewarded me."

Larissa's green eyes, similar to mine, were filled with sadness, and she even spoke with great effort, as if it would take all her strength.

It's strange that when I was going through this myself, I didn't seem as upset as she was. Was this what the word "mother" means? When she saw me suffering, did she feel so distressed that she couldn't breathe?

I reached out and hugged Larissa back, burying my head in her neck, "It's okay, at least I'm back with you now, and from now on you don't have to pin your hopes on God."

Larissa choked and hugged me, quite hard, almost breaking my waist, making me clearly aware of how strong the power belonging to the Alpha was.

"I will let everyone know that you are the Alpha of the future and no one will dare to bully you like that from now on. As for that family and Elvis, I will make sure they get what they deserve." Larissa said to me firmly.

Joseph was also surprised when he learned that I was Larissa's daughter. He rubbed his chin and told me, "I can't believe I saved the future Alpha."

I didn't know why, but I couldn't see much happiness on his face, he seemed to be bothered by something.

"You don't seem too happy?" I asked hesitantly out loud.

"No, it's nothing, I'm just overwhelmed," Joseph gave me a reassuring smile, "You know, Glory Pack hasn't had an alpha heir in eighteen years."

I nodded and didn't chat with Joseph again. At the moment I was sitting next to Larissa, listening to her receive the blessings and congratulations from the crowd.

Larissa looked so happy, the smile on her face just didn't go away.
