Chapter 4 Fat-free and Sugar-free?
A cold sensation came to my face.
My eyes snapped open and Klopp's white and slender fingers gently wiped the tears from my face.
"How about going for a walk?"
Klopp asked gently.
I glanced out the window and the moon was bright.
Then, he pulled me up.
Walking out of the room, he did not put the chain on me, but walked ahead without a hurry.
Around the long corridor, at the end was a sea of flowers, planted with various kinds of flowers.
On the other side of the sea of flowers there was a clear stream, the same as the one I saw on the mural in his room.
The breeze was blowing, and the scent of flowers came to my nose.
"The scent of red roses..."
I closed my eyes, sniffed the flowers, and got comfortable.
"Do you like it?"
Klopp asked as he stood beside me, looking out into the distance.
I opened my eyes and nodded seriously.
It's probably the most beautiful place I'd ever seen.
"You can come here any time in the future and, of course, pick a little of your favorite flower, but I don't want to see my garden reduced to a single stem."
Klopp joked.
I didn't know how to answer him and lowered my head a little embarrassed.
Instead, Klopp reached over and took my hand, continuing along the path beside the sea of flowers.
I slowly raised my head to look at the side of his face, no matter from which angle, he gave me a noble, elegant and inoffensive feeling.
Seemingly sensing my eyes on him, Klopp stopped and turned to look at me.
"Are you still worried that I'll bite you as Phil did?"
Klopp asked with a smile, as if he had found something interesting.
I realized that the man's name was Phil.
But his words made me a little confused, did he buy me back not to suck blood?
"Jennie, Phil sucks blood because he's still only a junior vampire, and if he wasn't my cousin, he'd still be out there wandering, and it might be complicated to explain, but I won't be sucking your blood for at least a short time."
Klopp explained.
Was it because my blood was not up to his requirements now, so he wouldn t drink it?
What were the blood requirements for vampires?
Fat-free and Sugar-free?
As I was thinking about it, there was a stabbing pain under my foot.
When I lifted my foot to look, it was a rose that had fallen on the side of the road and the spikes were sticking into my paws.
Blood flowed out of the wound.
I subconsciously tried to block the wound.
The smell of blood turned a vampire on, but I didn t want to watch him bite my foot.
"Looks like you'll have to wear shoes tomorrow."
Klopp said as he knelt down and looked at my wound.
"I...I don't have shoes."
I replied awkwardly.
In fact, the slaves and pets there in Wells had no clothes or shoes.
My original tattered and torn clothes were also the clothes I wore before I was captured.
"I thought you didn't like wearing shoes."
Klopp said with a smile.
The next second, he picked me up and walked back.
I'd never been this close to a boy before, and he's a vampire.
There was no blood smell on Klopp but an unknown faint fragrance, as well as the smell of flowers.
That scent made me ignore the injury on my foot and just lean on his shoulder, and we both remained silent.
On the way back, I saw several people looking at me with red eyes, and the moonlight shining on them looked extremely scary.
I shrank up and grabbed Klopp's shirt with both hands.
Klopp turned his head to look at them, and several people's scarlet eyes quickly returned to normal as they turned and fled in a hurry.
Back in my room, Klopp gently laid me on the bed and tended to my wounds again before walking out of the room.
He came back again with a golden bracelet in his hand.
There were also a few blue stones on the surface, which was beautiful.
"I think you'll like this better than a heavy chain."
Klopp said with a smile, slipping it around my wrist.
"I like it a lot."
I replied as such, even though it was used for the same purpose as the chains, to confine me.
"All vampires have an item that symbolizes their status. With it, even if I am not at the manor, no vampire will dare to hit on you unless he wants to be burned to ashes by the holy fire."
Klopp's expression got serious.
Vampires had a strict hierarchy, and if a lower-level vampire tried to take something from a higher-level vampire, then the higher-level vampire could burn the lower one to death with holy fire.
It was a long and brutal process, and it took seven days to burn a vampire to death.
And during those seven days, the vampire was burned by the flames all the time until he was completely turned into ashes.
I had overheard a burned vampire after being captured by Wells.
The vampire screamed in the flames for two days, and for the next few days, he could only open his mouth, unable to make any more sounds.
Because the blazing fire also burned his throat, or perhaps he could no longer get the strength to make a sound.
Perhaps that was the most severe punishment for vampires.
I didn't expect that Klopp would protect me in this way.
But for a vampire, he may just not want anyone else to touch his food.
After all, he was a count, just like those in the human world who were neat freaks.
I started to get sleepy again and my eyelids were getting heavy.
"Jenny, good night."
Klopp rubbed my head tenderly and turned to leave the room.
The moonlight spilled in through the window and shone right on the sapphire-set bracelet.
The blue gem reflected a faint light, which seemed to hide a vast river of stars.
I suddenly remembered.
I once overheard a merchant say that every vampire had an item of the same origin as himself.
It was closely related to vampires, and there were even some items that can hold the life of a vampire.
Advanced vampires would deposit a portion of their life into an isogeny item, and if they were in mortal danger, that portion of the isogeny item's life would allow the vampire to be reborn.
Even though the bracelet was very beautiful, I didn t think it was the isogeny of Klopp.
At least, he wouldn't give his life to a human pet like me.
Thinking about it, I fell asleep.
It was probably the most restful night's sleep I'd had in a long time.
Surprisingly there were no nightmares all night along.
When I woke up in the morning, there were all kinds of fruits on the bedside table, and bread.
I opened the door to my room and saw Klopp sitting on the couch in the living room with a thick book in his hand, reading intently.
The words in the book were like nothing I had ever seen before, like a flock of beasts with fangs and claws, but more like birds.
I wanted to say good morning to him, but pets were not allowed to disturb their owners, so I could only stand aside and watch him quietly.
"Wake up so early? Have you eaten breakfast?"
Klopp still spotted me, closed the book, got up and walked over.
"Not yet."
I hurriedly lowered my head, still not daring to look him in the eyes.
"There are other things to do after breakfast, and after that, I will leave the manor, but I will be back before evening."
Klopp said with a smile.
