Chapter 9 Don't Close Your Eyes

"She's my pet and came with me to the party."

Klopp looked at me and said to the man.

"Oh, I'm sorry, the Lord Count, your pet is very beautiful."

The man burst into laughter and made an inviting gesture to Klopp.

Klopp held my hand and walked through the door of the villa.

Inside, many people had already gathered for the banquet.

"Oh my God! That girl is so beautiful!"

"That body! Nice! I simply love her!"

I followed Klopp, and the people next to me were talking to me, and even though it was a compliment, I felt uncomfortable.

"She's a human!"

I didn't know who in the crowd spoke up, but the people who were complimenting me just now instantly looked at me in surprise.

It was as if the fact that I was human was too much for them to accept.

"It's a shame that it's only a human pet."

"If she were a Blood, I would have pursued her."

The men expressed their regret, but Klopp held my hand slightly tighter and led me through the crowd to reach the entrance of the hall.

"I'm sorry, Count Klopp, but your pet is not chained and you cannot enter the hall."

The soldiers at the door stopped Klopp.

"Since she is my pet, the need for chains is up to me."

Klopp did not hesitate to answer.

"Count Klopp, we cannot allow you to enter the hall until you have reattached the chains to your pet."

The soldier said in a loud voice.

The eyes of others were drawn to it.

I knew that they were all waiting for Klopp to put a chain around my neck in public and drag me into the hall like a dog on a leash.

"My pet doesn't need chains."

Klopp stood his ground and refused to step back in the slightest.

"Sir, I can wait for you outside."

I whispered to Klopp with my head down.

Klopp did not answer for a long time.

"Klopp, I'm glad you could make it to the party."

A woman's voice came through.

I turned my head slightly sideways and the woman, wearing a dark red dress and a ruby necklace around her neck, was walking toward Klopp.

"Mireya, I'm honored to be here for Mr. Duke's dinner."

Klopp said calmly.

"Is this your human pet?"

Mireya noticed me, came up to me and kept sizing me up. Somehow her gaze made me uncomfortable.

"Yes, her name is Jenny."

Klopp introduced her with a smile.

"Klopp, why isn't your pet on a chain?"

Another middle-aged man's voice came in, coldly questioning Klopp.

"Duke Taz, she's just a human pet that poses no threat to anyone, so I..."

"Shut up! Humans are just our food, pets, don't you have to put your food on a plate, but put it anywhere? Now, you put chains on her right now!"

Duke Taz interrupted Klopp's words and showed his anger.

Klopp stood still and looked back at me with guilt in his eyes.

I knew he didn't want to put chains around my neck, but defying Duke Taz would make him punished.

That was something I would not like to see and would rather he chained me up.

At least the chain could be taken down after the party was over.

"I'm sorry, Duke Taz, I promised her I wouldn't use the chains again."

Klopp stood up straight and said.

"Is he crazy? To actually contradict Duke Taz for a human pet?"

"It's just crazy, no one would go against Duke Taz's wishes over a pet yet."

All around was a mingling of voices.

I looked at Klopp, and I was worried that Duke Taz must have been enraged.

"Klopp, I don't care what you've said to her. A pet should be put on a chain and rolled off to stay in a steel cage, and wait until it's twenty-one years old to give its last drop of blood to its owner, not be like a stray dog without even a chain!"

The Duke Taz was enraged, pointed at me and shouted.

"Klopp, I know you're very kind, but these are the rules, and I hope you understand."

Mireya walked up to Klopp, reached out and put her hand on his chest and said.

In front of them, Klopp had no way back and no choice.

"Mr. Duke, I promise to..."

"Shut up! As a pet, how dare you initiate a conversation with us! Klopp, I order you to severely punish this human pet!"

I fell to my knees and tried to beg the Duke for forgiveness, but I forgot that I could not initiate a conversation with them.

Klopp tightened his grip on my wrist, and I could feel him suppressing his anger.

I knew that I had completely screwed up.

"If you fail to severely punish this human pet, I will cut off your knighthood and exile you forever!"

Duke Taz said angrily.

Klopp turned back and slowly squatted down.

For the first time, I saw Klopp's fangs, but I didn't feel scared.

"Sorry..."

Klopp whispered in my ear before biting my neck.

"It's okay."

I responded to him.

There was a sharp pain in my neck, and I could hear Klopp swallowing blood.

Until my vision became increasingly blurred and my whole body was rapidly sucked out along with the blood.

"I have punished her, but, until she is twenty-one, she must live."

Klopp picked me up and turned towards the outside of the villa.

I felt my body getting colder and colder, spreading from my limbs towards my body, and my eyelids getting heavier and heavier.

"Jenny, can you hear me? Answer me!"

Klopp hugged me in the car and whispered in my ear.

"Can..."

I struggled to open my eyes, weak to the point where I knew he didn't really want to bite me.

"I'm sorry...I'm...really sorry..."

Klopp hugged me tightly and kept apologizing.

I seemed to feel a drop of cold liquid dripping on my face.

"Mr...."

I reached out and hugged Klopp, I was about to die, and I still wanted to give him a hug before that happened.

I wanted to tell him that I didn t blame him, but was rather grateful that he saved me from the iron cage of Wells.

The only regret was that I was human.

"No! Jenny...don't close your eyes..."

The car drove at breakneck speed and rushed to the nearest town.

Klopp clutched my body and yelled in anger and despair.

When I woke up, I was lying in my own bed with the sun setting right through the window and shining on me.

There was still a distinct pain in my neck, and it was telling me that what was happening was real.

But I didn t understand how I survived when I was supposed to die.

Klopp was not in the room, at that time, he should have been at the manor.

The door to the room was pushed open, accompanied by a strong smell of blood.
