Chapter 2
Chris's POV.
In the scarlet church, the stained glass reflected me falling in a pool of blood, a monster with long black curly hair, scarlet demonic eyes and sharp horrible fangs...
No! That's not me! It wasn't!
"Ah-" I yelled, waking up from my nightmare with a loud gasp of air.
Looking at the beautiful chandelier overhead, I let out a long breath. Thankfully, it was just a bad dream.
"Miss Chris, having a nightmare? Come and have some water."
I then noticed that there was a maid standing next to me. It seemed like a completely new bedroom, and I was lying on the only queen-sized bed in it.
The maid looked at me tenderly, with a glass of water in her hand.
"Thanks." I nodded at her, took a small sip of water, and put it back.
I felt so thirsty that water couldn't quench my thirst
"Where am I? What did you just call me?" I asked her.
Chris, that's what she called me if I heard her correctly. The lowly vampire used to call me that before, but I just didn't care at the time.
But my name was Cheryl. They must have mistaken me for someone else.
"Just a moment." The maid did not answer me, nor did she look at me any longer, but turned with her head down and went out.
I lifted the covers and looked at myself, all of my injuries were healed, except for a rose-shaped scar on my right shoulder.
After a while the maid entered again, carrying a beautiful set of dresses in her hands.
"Miss Chris, please take a bath and change your clothes, the Prince is waiting for you in the drawing room." She said respectfully with a mechanical smile on her face.
"My name isn't Chris!" I looked at her angrily, "My name is Cheryl."
The maid gave me a frightened look and hastily bowed her head, still repeating the instructions she had just passed on, "please take a bath and change your clothes, the Prince is waiting for you"
"Damn the Prince!" I cursed, walking naked to the bathroom.
My naked body did need an outfit, and a hot bath would certainly be nice.
Everything before was not a dream. My little brother Cecil, who was not related to me by blood, yet I had been the one to take care of him, but that brat took my weapon and shot me.
And the man with the golden eyes before I passed out, what a shock, would be the Prince the maid said, and the one who healed me, turned to be a vampire.
I thought he had found the wrong person though, and I was forced into the monster's den.
I thought randomly and walked into the bathroom, which had long since been filled with hot water and a mist floating in the air.
There was a mirror right in the bathroom doorway, and I only waved it around for a second before freezing in place in horror.
Even though it was hard to see clearly under the fog, I could still make out the hair color and outline of the woman in the mirror.
I had long curly red hair and a slight build, but the woman in the mirror had long black hair and a thin build.
I lunged at the mirror and the collision made a violent clang. I couldn't care less about the pain from the impact and scrambled to wipe the glass, but just as I finished, the mirror was quickly fogged over again and only shortly clear for a few seconds.
But it was enough for me to see the unfamiliar face. The woman in the mirror had long black hair, gray eyes, and a pale complexion, and her eyes at the moment held surprise and panic.
"Honey, what are you looking at?"
A pale hand climbed onto my shoulder, and suddenly there was a man in the mirror.
"Bastard, how did you get in here!" My eyes widened and I scrambled backwards, clutching my arms in panic.
It was the man with golden eyes, or rather, a monster with golden pupils.
His hand was still frozen in mid-air, and he seemed a little surprised at my reaction, but soon he hooked a light smile again, the tips of his white teeth showing around his mouth.
"You could also teleport, right? I do have more speed than you though, you're still the lowest of the Bloods after all." He said, sounding a bit proud.
"Insolent fellow! Did God give you this ability to come and spy on women in the shower?" I looked at him in disgust.
At my words, his smile froze on his lips and his eyes flickered back and forth between gold and red.
At the same time, a powerful pressure came at me, and I was forced to drop to the floor, naked and exposed to him, too wretched to lift my head.
He must have been angry, I knew, but I didn t regret it. The fact that there was no way to fight him at all, yet made me ashamed and frustrated.
"You've become different, Chris, you've gotten bolder, but you've also gotten more disobedient." I heard him say over my head with his husky voice but I couldn t tell his emotion.
Then my chin was cupped by him and I was forced to look up at him.
"But I will tame you well until you do as you are told." He said as his eyes were completely blood red, which were more beautiful than the blood pigeon gems I had seen at an auction.
My eyes grew misty and drifted off for a split second before a sudden stab of pain came from my neck, making me cry out in pain while my limbs felt like they were frozen in place and I had absolutely no strength to resist.
I didn t know how long it took before he finally left my neck and I looked like a broken muppet thrown on the floor by him.
The water in the bathroom had long since gone cold, and as the fog lifted, I saw myself in front of the full-length mirror, my face turning paler, blood snaking down my neck, and despair in my lax gray eyes.
"Chris, your blood still isn't tasty enough, haven't you been sucking blood all this time?" He asked me in a serious tone.
I lifted my eyes to look at him, by that time his eyes had returned to gold and he just still didn't look in a good mood.
"I'm human, I don't suck blood, monsters do suck." I said sitting up from the ground and covering my wound.
"Huh?" He sneered very softly, "You're still human? Are you kidding me?"
I looked at him hatefully and didn't say anything.
"Well, Chris, you said you were human ..." He suddenly curbed his sarcastic smile. His eyes became soft and he walked towards me.
"What more do you want?" I looked at him warily.
He bent down and picked me up easily and leaned close to me and said, "Honey, I think you're hungry, how about taking you to get something to eat later?"
I didn't know what he was mad about, but I didn't have the strength to resist any of his moves.
He carried me carefully into the tub, and if I didn't think about his bloodshot eyes as he bit me, I would have the illusion of being held in his hands.
His pale and slender fingers roamed over my bare skin at will, and despite my careless and wild nature, I couldn't help but blush.
No one had bathed me since I was five, and despite knowing he was a monster, he was also a male, and I didn't even know his name yet.
A strong sense of shame stirred in me, and I couldn't do anything about it.
His movements had been gentle, yet a bit awkward, and I couldn't help but think that this was probably the first time he'd helped someone with a bath, too.
After he bathed me, he carried me back to the bedroom and helped me get dressed. My emotions were completely numb as I let him fiddle with me.
He put a dress on me, which was exactly what the maid had just brought in, a red sheath dress that fitted just right on me.
I rarely wore dresses after becoming a hunter, and at this point I couldn't help but glance more towards the mirror.
This body, although it looked thin, had a lot of meat where it should be plump.
"That's beautiful." The man said appreciatively.
I immediately withdrew my eyes, a little embarrassed.
"Monster, what's your name?" I asked him, changing the subject.
He wasn't angry, but looked at me with some pity.
"I'm Burris, your fiancé, did you even forget that? It looks like you've had a rough time running away."
"Look Burris, you may not believe this, but I'm not Chris and I'm not your fiancée." I said seriously looking at him.
But he just laughed, clearly not taking my words seriously.
"I think you're too hungry Chris, something to eat would be much better." He said.
Failing the negotiations, I sighed long and scratched my hair in frustration.
"Meier," Burris called with his hoarse voice.
The maid, who had been standing in the doorway without moving, came over to me, and I saw her shoulders shaking slightly.
"Go, take care of Chris for dinner." Burris gave the order.
I didn't like the aristocratic ways of the monster and declined his kind offer, "No thanks! I can help myself, where's the food?"
I didn't feel hungry, I was just thirsty but didn't want to drink. I hadn't eaten in what seemed like forever and that's why I had no energy, I guess.
The maid Meier, came up to me, and I looked at her strangely as she suddenly knelt at my feet with her head cocked to one side, which exposed her tender white neck to my eyes.
"Miss Chris, please enjoy." Her voice was visibly shaking.
But I could no longer care about her, my eyes almost fixed on the throbbing veins of green blood, a strange hunger amplifying.
Her neck smelled deadly and seductive, and finally, I couldn't control myself to pounce on her like a fierce animal.
At that moment, I could clearly feel that the fangs on either side of my face were elongating ...
