Chapter 5
Chris's POV.
"That's because Diana loves me, she's going to marry me whether you agree with me or not, and she hates you as a brother, you know?" Phillips said in a smug tone.
I shrugged my eyebrows in surprise, not at Diana and Burris's relationship, but at Phillips's attitude.
He seemed to have more guts than I did to offend their Prince like that, there's a good show on.
Burris didn't retort, only his eyes turned redder and I felt a suffocating wave of intimidation as my body collapsed uncontrollably.
Soon Phillips was down too and I realized it was Burris against him and I was just the innocent victim.
I didn t have any more time to feel sorry for myself, because I've been found out!
"Burris, there's someone there!" Phillips pointed to where I was.
He's trying to distract Burris, the scumbag! I glared at him fiercely.
Apparently, Burris spotted me before Phillips did, and while he didn't stop attacking, the pressure on my side lightened a bit.
Phillips started spitting up blood and rolling around on the floor covering his heart while I just lost the strength to stand up.
"I was wrong ...Burris ... Lord Prince ... you have spared me... ..." said Phillips in pain.
Burris's red eyes flickered for a moment before he stopped his attack. Phillips splayed out on the floor, breathing heavily.
After a few moments, he perhaps regained his strength, but in a flash, he was at my side, and he took me roughly by the scruff of the neck and went back down the cottage to gesture to Burris.
"So she's your fiancée? Bitch, how about letting me punish her for you for trying to escape?" Phillips s eyes looked at me greedily, showing his ugly fangs.
Jesus Christ! He's a bummer. He looked completely different when he was begging for mercy earlier.
Burris was still too kind, I thought sarcastically.
"Let her go Phillips, that's my guy!" Burris exclaimed.
By this time, Phillips' fangs were pressed against my fragile neck, but couldn't advance any further.
The next second, I was in Burris's hands again. He wrapped around me with one arm while his eyes were dangerously fixed on Phillips.
"Lord Prince, you don't really like this lowly Blood, do you? She was just used to save Diana, wasn't she? I'm just trying to teach her a good lesson for you." Phillips explained with a smile.
"Mind your own business and spend more time with Diana if you have time, I think she can hear us." Burris looked at him with disgust.
"As for marquis..." Phillips was about to say something else.
"That's your business, you're supposed to beat them on merit and get your food and power, that's the family rule." Burris interrupted him unhappily.
Phillips, full of resentment and forced by Burris' intimidation, still turned away from the area.
Now it's just me and Burris, which sucked! I bowed my head sheepishly and prayed that he would leave me alone.
Burris's POV.
"What are you doing here?" I frowned at Chris.
I knew she's trying to run away again, she almost got burned to a crisp by the sun for running away just the other day, how dare she!
"The cottage was on fire and I got a little scared and wanted to come out to you." Chris whispered with her head down.
Usually when telling lies, the lying people would be afraid to look someone in the eyes because they are too weak.
"Fear of fire?" I raised a lower eyebrow and commented softly, "That's a good reason."
After I uttered the words, I saw her palms suddenly close and clench into fists.
"But I still have things to do. Chris, why don't you stay with me?" I said with a smile.
"What is it?" Chris froze for a moment and looked up at me.
Her eyes were gray and bright, like the Milky Way in a captivating way.
"Come on, it's in the cottage." I smiled at her and took her hand and walked into the villa.
I wouldn't let anyone else in here and the whole cottage was lit only by oil lamps. I like the environment, but Chris looked a little scared.
It was even shivering, perhaps because of all the cold ice.
Expressionless Chris looked docile in the light of the candle flame, and her long and thick lashes cast a shadow over her eyelids.
Much enchanted by her, I took pity on her and took off my jacket and draped it over her shoulders. She was obviously surprised too, and gave me a confusing look, but didn't refuse my kind offer.
It gave me inexplicable pleasure.
"Where are we going?" Chris asked again, looking sideways at me.
I didn't say anything and pulled her up the stairs. Her hands were cold, and so were mine.
The unfamiliar touch brought up by the skin against skin, but gave me the illusion that the skin was hot.
I led her into an empty room that served as Diana's drawing room and the secret door to the secret room.
Chris took a few more glances at a horrifyingly creepy canvas that was hiding the very switch.
I walked over, lifted the canvas, twisted the switch, and the white wall began to dent, revealing the shape of a door.
So this was my secret room.
I led Chris through the narrow canals, the temperature getting colder all around. Finally we reached an ice room and stopped in front of the door.
This whole room was made of cold ice, and in the middle of the house there was only an ice coffin in which lay my poor sister.
"This is my sister, Diana, say hello to her, honey." I turned to Chris and introduced her.
Chris looked reluctant, and she was still standing in the doorway, her eyes looking at me hesitantly. I even saw a familiar hint of disgust in them.
I gave her a cold look and walked alone to the ice coffin and said hello to Diana, "Diana, how was your sleep?"
In the afterglow, I saw her frown and walk towards me anyway.
"How did she get like this?" Chris asked.
It brought back a once bad memory in my mind, and when I thought of the hunter who had hurt Diana, my pupils turned red from anger.
"It was the hunter who hurt her, that Tyrone guy, and I will personally rip his head off and put it back to Diana to atone for his sins." I said in a cold voice.
Chris's POV.
"That's a sick idea." I commented with a snort.
In fact, my emotions started to get the wrong way around when he spoke out Tyrone's name, Tyrone was my boyfriend and although no one knew it, we were sweet.
Burris silently rolled his red eyes to look at me. I looked at him fearlessly and continued, "I heard he's the best hunter, can you beat him?"
"He's a scumbag, and I'll take care of him sooner or later." Burris said in a hushed voice.
I couldn't bear to hear anyone speak ill of Tyrone and questioned him loudly, "A hunter's mission is to destroy vampires, he's not wrong, and aren't you a despicable person for wanting to rely on women for your power?"
"You make a good point." He sneered, "Now I have to feed Diana blood and rely on you to keep my power up, but can you resist?"
So that's what he brought me in for.
"You bastard!" I yelled at him and looked at him fiercely.
But I couldn't resist him. instead, I could only watch him approach me step by step ...
