Chapter 8

Chris's POV.

After a day, I converted the candlestick into a short spear that was easy to hold and grip, then got ready to leave for the evening, during which time I never saw Andrew the butler.

At night, I jumped down from Burris' empty ledge and, as expected, I didn't fall. Needless to say, vampires do have a lot of physical advantages.

It was a smooth ride until I was almost out the front door of the villa. The road was suddenly stopped in front of me and I had to half hang my eyes to see the person in front of me.

It s a little boy who's only knee-high to me.

Gosh, he looked so cute!

He had fluffy blonde curls, clear blue eyes, and a soft white complexion that set off his red lips. At the moment he was still holding a drink in his hand.

Was it the child of a blood slave?

I bent down and stroked his head, which felt good in my hand, and I asked him, "Are you lost, little one? How did you get here."

"Oh, Miss Chris, didn't anyone tell you that your behavior was rude?" He furrowed his shapely brows and took a step back, looking at me warily.

I laughed at his cute antics and if it weren't for the fact that I was running away I would have talked to this cute little guy for a while.

"I'm sorry to offend you, but I have something very important to do, can you excuse me for a moment?" I said to him with a smile.

"No, Prince Burris wants me to keep an eye on you and not let you leave the villa." The little one said seriously.

"Prince Burris?" I looked at him in shock, "You know him? Who is he to you?"

Then I noticed that the drink he was holding was blood red, oh no, that's blood! It was a little monster!

"I'm Andrew, didn't Prince Burris tell you?" The little guy said with his head tilted.

"You're Andrew! How?" I was even more shocked.

"Yes, I am Andrew, don't underestimate me. Ma'am, that's rude." The little guy said unhappily.

"Well." I said, "Your Lord Prince didn't tell me you'd be so cute."

"Thank you for the compliment." Andrew grinned, revealing the small pointed teeth inside, "But Lord Burris is also your Prince, and you should mind your manners."

I nodded perfunctorily, while got a little depressed that if Andrew were an adult, I would have gone down on him decisively. But he was a polite and cute little guy, and I just couldn't go after him.

"Miss Chris, are you going back? I can keep you company if you're scared." Andrew continued with his head tilted.

I sighed and raised my hand to rub it on his head again.

He immediately backed up nervously, looking so cute that I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Never mind, I didn t think Burris will be back for a while, so I d figure out a way to get rid of this little guy.

I went back into the room, accompanied by Andrew, who was standing in the doorway and afraid to enter the room.

"Come on in, Andrew, and talk to me." I invited him to say.

Andrew's little head shook like a wave and frowned adamantly, "This is the Lord Prince's bedroom, I can't enter it. I would pollute the room."

"I can stand at the door and talk to you." He said again, his fingers scratching the door frame, clearly eager to come in.

"I won't tell Burris, come on in, little one." I advised.

"You don t know how amazing Lord Prince is! He can smell me." Andrew said with rounded eyes and a reverent look in his eyes.

"Okay." I had to walk over to the door, "Burris said you were his butler, how could he enslave children? What a jerk."

I was curious as to how they met and tried to get some truth from Andrew.

"No, it would be my pleasure." Andrew said fearfully, covering his forehead with his small hand, looking distressed, "And it's killing me that you should put a salutation before you address him!"

"It's okay, he can t hear me calling him like that." I said indifferently, the little guy was making a bit of a fuss.

"No, I cannot bear for you to be so rude to the Lord Prince." Andrew deflated, looking like he was about to cry.

"You're quite the devotee of his." I said helplessly, "Well, I promise to address him as Lord Prince, shall we chat?"

"Sure, what would you like to talk about? Do you need me to read you a bedtime story?" Andrew looked at me genuinely, his big blue eyes kept fluttering.

"Oh, you're such a cute little kid!" I couldn't help but pinch his pale cheek again.

"Miss Chris, please mind your manners!" Andrew frowned bitterly and transiently moved to the end of the hallway.

I laughed pleasantly a few times and waved at him, "Okay, I'm not tricking you, Andrew, come on over here, I want to know how you and how you know Prince Burris."

Andrew teleported back, and answered with a childish voice, "About a dozen years ago, I was an orphan, accidentally bitten by a vampire, and met Tyrone the Hunter, and if it wasn't for Burris, I would have been brutally murdered."

"The Lord Prince brought me home, used energy to help me heal, and gave me food. The great Lord Prince, he is so kind." Andrew said excitedly.

"Are you sure it was Tyrone who hurt you?" I questioned.

"Of course, it was Tyrone, the leader of the hunters, who killed a lot of vampires no matter the vampires were good or bad. That was when I had just been bitten and hadn't turned into a vampire yet, and he still tried to kill me." Andrew said angrily.

"That's his job." I explained as I looked at Andrew.

Andrew glared at me angrily, "If you were a hunter, would you kill all the vampires too?"

No, I never killed and I d never kill children, no matter vampire or human.

"I don't know, but the vampires are going to bite humans and the hunters are just protecting the humans." I said to Andrew.

"But I've never bitten a human, and neither has Prince Burris. I only drink blood that comes in a bottle. neither has Lord Burris, he's never hurt a human, but the hunter hurt his only sister." Andrew said with a frown.

"Impossible!" I retorted loudly and indignantly, "Burris has sucked my blood and seduced me into draining a blood slave!"

"It's Lord Prince Burris, and you're not human and Meier was bitten by you, nothing to do with Prince Burris." Andrew corrected, looking at me helplessly.

"..."

Andrew had a point, and I couldn t argue any further.

When I stopped talking, Andrew sighed like an adult and said, "Actually, Prince Burris likes you a lot, he told me you were interesting and asked me to protect you. You should feel honored to be married to him."

"No, he would like to marry me only because of the prophecy of the Elder. He will drain my blood and gain the power to save his sister. He doesn't love me, and I don't need that kind of marriage." I said in a hushed voice.

I must have been too bored to talk to a little kid about this.

After me saying that, Andrew seemed a little surprised and turned to look at me with pity, "So that's it, my poor Miss Chris, if only I could take your place, I would give my life for the Prince."

"You're still a kid, you should be out to know the world more instead of worrying about your Prince here." I told him with a smile, rubbing his tousled blonde hair again.

This time Andrew didn't duck, he looked up at me and said, "I'm worried about you too Miss Chris, you look as pretty as my late mum when you smile."

"Thank you for the compliment, I really want to hug you." I said with a smile.

"Of course you can, if you don't mind, you're a future Princess." Andrew opened his arms to me.

I bent down and took Andrew into my arms, remembering Cecil, the guy I treated as my brother, who I always hugged as a kid too.

This was the first time I've made a Blood friend, even though it's a little guy. I couldn't bear to hurt him, but I still had to get out of here and go find my original body, so I had to figure out a way to shake Andrew off...
