Chapter 8 Can you help me??

I saw the cup of coffee fly up...

And with a loud thud, I was right on the ground. My face bumped hard on the ground, and my forehead was in great pain. A few inches ahead of me was a pool of my hot coffee, along with the broken cup. My heart ached at that sight. I had just made that and hadn't taken a sip yet.

I looked up just to see Olivia looking at me and smiling with satisfaction.

A surge of anger boiled inside me. I wanted to rip her head off. But I shook that thought away and got up from the ground. I looked around only to find everyone looking at me with pitiful eyes. I quickly find Anyee's concerned eyes on me.

It was quite embarrassing.

Two girls named Ahe (the one to submit the files in the morning) and another whom I didn't know came laughing and joined Olivia.

"looks like someone needs eye treatment," Olivia mocked me with an evil smirk.

The new girl laughed out hard at this statement and said to Olivia, "Looks like you found a new toy to play with, senior."

"Yes, senior, show her how great you are." Ahe also spoke, sucking Olivia up.

Olivia smiled and said, "You make the floor dirty; clean up your mess."

I looked at her, I really wanted to hit her right on the cheek. She was the one who tripped me, so I fell. She was the one at fault. I wanted to protest. But when I remembered Anyee's words, I couldn't bring myself to talk. She was powerful enough to make me lose my job. And I need this job. I didn't want to be a burden to Cami.

At this time, someone had already called a janitor. She came forward to clean up the mess. But Olivia stopped her and said in a bossy tone "She is the one who made the floor dirty, let her clean up her mess".

The janitor looked at me with hesitation. I knew she also needed to keep her job, and she couldn't fight with someone like Olivia for me. She may lose her job. I stepped forward, took the mop from her, and started cleaning the pool of hot coffee. While I was about to finish, a lot of water spilled on the floor again.

I lifted my face up and saw that it was Ahe pouring the water. I stared at her, but she just laughed.

I wanted to peel her skin right now. But I didn't want to create a scene. Especially when I was still new here. I just didn't want to lose this job.

I didn't say anything and cleaned the floor quietly. When I finished, the janitor came to take the mop from me.

"Jasmine," Olivia called out.

I looked at her and then at that Jasmine girl. She nodded her head and went to grab a cup of coffee from the table. Then she came forward and poured the coffee on the floor again.

"You newbie, clean that," she said with an evil smile.

Enough was enough. I wasn't saying anything because I didn't want to create any scenes. I knew I was poor. I knew I needed this job. But my self-esteem was also something. I couldn't let anyone just come and bully me as they pleased.

"No," I said, and I gave the mop to the janitor.

"I didn't create that mess this time. And I'm Riley." I said.

"Oh, so you have a mouth to speak." Jasmine said. "I thought you were dumb. Hahaha"

"I didn't ask you." Olivia took the mop from the janitor and threw it at me, saying, "You have to."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because I said," Olivia said, being so full of herself.

"Why are you doing this to me? What did I do to offend you? We don't know each other." I blurted out loud, I mean LOUD.

"Knowing each other? My cousin is vice president here. So you will have to listen to me from now on. As for your identity, I don't need to know. Do you think someone like you can be known by me?" She said it proudly.

"This company is not some park where a fool like you can come. Seeing you here gave me a headache. Look at yourself, you don't know how to dress up,you don't know how to wear makeup, and look at those shoes and your cheap clothes. You look like a maid in my house. Your cheap clothes stink. You'll make the company's environment cheap," she said, blocking her nose like I really stank.

"But I can work properly. I don't need others to complete my work." I said.

"You..." She became red and was pointing a finger at me. Maybe I got under her skin. Hmph,it felt good to anger her.

"What's happening here? Why aren't you working??"A man in his early thirties walked in. He was a very handsome man. Although he was a little bit old, that didn't affect his beauty. He has shoulder-length hair, fair skin, and small yet charming eyes. He looks cold, mature, yet perfect.

It was her fault," Olivia quickly said, "she spilled her coffee on the ground. I asked her to clean, but she wouldn't listen."

Hah,the coffee was spilled by me? Is she blind? Or does she think everyone else is blind?

"Manager, she was even rude to Olivia." Ahe added.

So this was the manager. I saw the name yesterday. Mr. Nolan Reid.

Mr. Reid raised his hand to Ahe and looked coldly at her. Then he shifted his gaze toward me. He looked at me, stunned for a long time. I looked around everyone was looking at Mr. Nolan, and he was looking at me. I felt uncomfortable. When I thought he would never stop looking at me,he looked away.

"Go back to work. I don't want a scene in my department. Or else half a month's salary will be cut," he said coldly, going towards his office.

Everyone who was looking at us went to their respective places. Jasmine and Ahe also went to their desks.

Olivia looked at me with angry eyes and went to her desk. I also came to my desk. Thanks to this drama, I didn't feel sleepy anymore.

It was soon time for a lunch break. Anyee came to me smiling. Then we went to the cafeteria together.

When we reached there, there were a lot of people there. It was lively.

"Anyee, I'll get food today, you go and sit." I said and went there. There was no option for food. We have to eat whatever is cooked. But the food was not the same as yesterday. Phew, it's a good thing we don't have to eat a single dish every day.

I took two plates and filled them with food. Then I came back to the table where Anyee was sitting. When I came back, Rick was also there.

"Hey Rick," I said, putting down the plates.

"Hi," he said to me, and looked at Anyee as if he were saying something from his eyes.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know you were also here. You guys wait I'll go and get another plate." I said and turned back, ready to go to the food serving area again.

"Wait, Riley," Anyee stopped me. I turned to look at her.

"This idiot is accusing me of not being a good friend. Just because I got you food yesterday and not for him. You just sit here. I'll go," she said, getting up.

Then she went to get food for Rick. I looked at Rick. He was staring at Anyee's back with a big, bright smile. His eyes were brimming with happiness.

"You like her. Right? " I sat on one of the chairs and looked at him.

He looked stunned, as if I had found out his precious secret.

"Is it that obvious?" he said, scratching the back of his head to avoid the awkward feeling.

"Yeah, it is written on your face in bold letters. And you look quite serious," I stated.

"Yes, I am. But please don't tell her," he said, looking at me.

"Actually, I told her yesterday."

"What?? What did she say? " He looked shocked.

"She doesn't think you like her. She sees you as her best friend. "When I said these words, I could see he was hurt. He wasn't liking what he was hearing.

"That's the problem. She thinks of me as a friend only," he said. "Even you can tell that I like her at a glance, but she won't see it."

At this time, Anyee came with the food plate and put it in front of Rick.

"Here you go."

We ate our lunch, chatting happily about a lot of things. Soon the lunch break was over, and we needed to go back to the office. Three of us headed towards the elevator. We were the only three in the elevator.

When we reached our floor Anyee said bye to Rick and went out of the elevator. Rich's office was on the 5th floor. I said bye to him and headed out of the elevator. But before I left, he grabbed my wrist. I looked at him. He said, "Sorry for this. But can you help me?
