Chapter 9 Hang up

"Aren't you coming in yet?" I said to the two of them busy with the papers.

We had just finished eating lunch and they decided here to just do what the faculty had to do. Later, Auntie Summer arrived with cookies and juice that she laid on the center table.

"Here, when you're exhausted don't be shy to get in the kitchen okay? Eat it too Annika." My aunt's eyes are manly on me so I just nodded.

"Thank you Ma'am," Erwin smiled.

"Thank you... Seriously, it's embarrassing to be greedy right?" bravely Patricio said looking at me while aunt stood.

"Definitely."

My aunt just laughed because of my answer and what Patricio said. My aunt and I had decided to leave and we were almost the only ones in the living room. Make sure the rest of them are in their respective rooms and in company.

"I'll be in class later, about two o'clock," Pat replied.

"Yeah. We're just the same. I'm just a substitute, oh by the way, here's our new report. We had a meeting yesterday, urgent," Erwin began to stand up and go my way.

Patricio just gave me a teasing look and went back to what he was doing. Erwin handed me a folder containing schedules that would happen over the course of a month. He explained to me what would happen especially in the second week of October, now that the elimination in the Archery contest and hopefully the person I want to fight for will be won.

Various clubs are now fighting at the school That will be over by Friday and I may be able to enter. Third week will be the district competition where each school will compete, if we are lucky enough to reach the division it will happen at the end of October which will probably reach November. I even opened a calendar and since the holiday is two days I can still rest. But after the first week of November I still had no rest because I had a seminar that I still didn t know where to be held. I have so much to do in two months.

"But if you can't, someone can—"

"I can do it. I can go to those, I just need a little rest," I said quickly.

I closed that folder again and then looked at the clock it was only thirty minutes and their class was about to begin.

"All right, go away. What time is it and you're still going," I said softly then slowly stood up.

"Of course, we're leaving!" They immediately arranged their belongings, they even took care of the food they used and washed them for a while because it was embarrassing and they were already eating.

As they exited the Main door, Veron entered with a wide smile from the two. "Are you leaving?" Veron snorted and then stood beside me.

"Yeah, and then I also don't want to see that demon you're with, it's dangerous," Pat whispered causing Veron and me to laugh.

I nodded to them. I looked straight at their car and the big gate had already opened before the end. When it came out, it closed again. I decided to go to the kitchen, instead of having coffee I took the milk to season myself. I don't want Veron to do this because of too much gibberish than mixture, as well as the amount of sugar to be put in yet to be asked.

SlowlyI just walk, I just frown because my sister instead of helping is still laughing at me while sitting still. So I don t believe siblings work together. Laugh first before help.

"You look old, my sister," she continued teasing. I sat not far from her, the tv was off so only music coming from where we could hear, accompanied by the strong wind coming from outside.

In the afternoon the aircon is turned off here in the living room.

"I thought you were really pregnant, because you were nauseous and then nauseous. Then your father Zeke—"

"Stupid!" I quickly said as she laughed.

"Don't cuss! That's bad! It's stupid," she pointed at me.

I didn't pay attention to it but did the other things that had to be done, so that when I went back to school I didn't care, I still had to file for leave in a few days and keep the prescriptions. Especially the letter from my doctor. I almost ran out of cookies, I noticed Veron coming down the stairs, which I didn t notice as he turned up.

"Veron," I called to her so it turned away while holding the apple.

"Please take n—"

"I really don't want to! I'll just go up," was her quick defense.

She seemed to know what I was going to order her. "It's easy. I have something to do," I insisted.

Her eyebrows almost met hers staring at me. "You're just going to write a story." Her snout. "No, I'm going to make a record," I said quickly as she didn't seem to believe.

She rolled her eyes then goes back up again. I'm going to write the next chapter, I haven't been able to write for a few days and I might suddenly get tired. This is how I often work, even when I'm busy I insert the writing even if I can only make a few sentences. Soon it was carrying my laptop and outlets. She also set it up even though I didn t order it.

"Oh there it is. You don't have an order?" her more question.

"Nothing. Thank you my sister," I teased but she just stared at me.

I don t know what she s doing here especially with hee work hours now. She ran away again for sure. She just comes here to say hello because she is staying in her condo. When I saw the last chapter I wrote I felt like I didn t like it, I had just written it had never felt the flow of it. I didn t hesitate to erase that because it was almost broth. Nothing to do with the story. They often say that what a person feels is also what he can write. I seem to know why you are so dramatic to me.

I noticed my sister disappearing again, her cell phone was turned on and it looked like someone was calling, it just seemed to be muted. I was about to pick up her phone when suddenly the call disappeared and I heard the footsteps of someone who seemed to be coming.

"Annika, someone is calling you," she said, reaching for my cell phone.

I quickly picked it up and glued it to my ear. I was suddenly nervous. "Hello? Who is this please?" I asked quickly.

I heard the deep breath on the other line and its squeal. Men. [Huh? You call me Annika,] familiar voice coming from the other line.

My eyes widened quickly and then immediately looked at the screen.

Engr. Roux

I quickly turned to where Veron was laughing out loud. I want to cry because of what she did.

Fvck you Veron! I curse you!

[Do you need anything?] he asked on the other side so I quickly stood up because of the twitter.

"O-Ouch!" I quickly covered my mouth and winced at the hip pain.

[Why were you called?] He asked, making me almost sweat with his questions.

"A-Ah, I just have a question," I said then bit my nail.

I can no longer see Veron. That's really stupid.

[What's that?] He said hoarsely and then I heard the chair move.

"H-Have you eaten yet?" none of my own question so the nervousness that prevails over me is doubled.

I wanted to hang up the phone but I couldn t, my knees and hands shaking.

[Y-Yah. Just finished, why?] I don't know what to answer, I just listen to his every breath.

"A-Ahm, w-when are you coming back here?"

Shit! Stop it Annika! You no longer know what you are saying! I heard nothing but his deep breathing and the voice of a woman tenderly calling her name.

[I'll put it down. I still have work.]

"Ok—"

Until he hang up the phone. Even though I wasn't done with what I was supposed to say, he took it down immediately.

The earlier nervousness that prevailed in me was gone. I was suddenly hurt and I don t know why. It's normal for him to hang up the phone because it's his work time. But why am I hurt?
