Chapter 2

Emily's POV

My body was wrapped in a wet shirt that barely allowed me to breathe. The pool in the garden hadn't been changed in ages in preparation for the party. I didn't know what kind of liquid had been poured inside the pool, and it gave me indescribable smell all over my body so I just wanted to get out of this shirt and clean myself quickly.

I was sure I'd catch a cold if I didn't get changed!

I changed my clothes in the dressing room and then carried the dishes to the back kitchen, where I was surrounded by waiters who were hiding in the back kitchen and lazing around.

"Emily, my dear, you really are so silly. Do you know how much of a treasure that is? It will allow you to do well in school without having to come out to work to earn your tuition."

"God! Do you know who the person is that you turned down? I would have gone absolutely crazy if he would have invited me to dinner."

I also knew that that bank card might have a fortune that I might not get in my lifetime. I also knew that if I had that bank card, I might be able to pay off all my mother's medical bills and stay in college to study in peace. But my pride and self-esteem wouldn't allow me to do that.

I only saved a life because I didn't want a little girl to die in a cold pool, never for any reward. But the people here wouldn't understand my pride, and at the moment I was completely an idiot in the eyes of these people, so my explanation didn't make sense.

I tried to change the subject, "Is he some kind of big star? I feel like I've seen him somewhere before."

The woman closest to me heard me ask that and covered her mouth and exclaimed, "Oh, my God. Don't you know him? He's Andre Vincent, the husband of actress Kelly Simon, the famous playboy."

Andre Vincent? Was that man the famous Andre Vincent?

It was 12 midnight when I got home from work. I got home from work every day at that time, so every time I came back from the hotel, my roommate Susan had already gone to bed. I took a shower in the bathroom as quietly as possible and cleaned the bathroom. It was almost 1 am when I got out after everything was over.

I was very tired but suddenly remembered what had happened to me at the hotel while I was lying in bed. While my mind got cleared, then I sat down at my desk and turned on the old computer which cost me a few hundred dollars on a second-hand website and typed Andre's name into my browser.

The late-night Internet signal was great, and in just two seconds a lot of information about the man popped up. In addition to the most basic personal information, the most were about his gossip.

For example, the son of the richest man in the M State dating a model! The sexiest model seduced the most popular actress's ex-husband? There were even journalists who had edited Andre Vincent's scandals over the years into a column entitled "Playboy and his girlfriends"!

Andre Vincent was a real playboy, as the waiter around me today said.

In the words of a tabloid reporter: during 365 days of one year, Andre Vincent could wake up from a different woman's bed every day. He changed women as if he were changing clothes.

But he was really worthy of women's craze. Because he was generous, handsome and looked better in person than in pictures. I had never seen a man as handsome as he was, even my boyfriend Dylan was not as good as him in front of him. Not to mention that Andre had a handsome face and a tall, perfect body, but he was also very good in person. Instead of relying on his billionaire father's help, he chose to use his abilities to build a company on his own. Now he makes no less money than his father.

Such a good man was still popular among women all over the world, even if he already had a four-year-old daughter, many women would still be crazy about him and want to do the child's stepmother.

The more information I read, the clearer my mind became.

Luckily, I turned down his invitation today. He was such a noble man with high dignity that he would have forgotten about me in less than two days and looked for new prey.

The moon had come to the middle of the sky outside the window, and it gently shone its light on everyone in the city. No matter how many worries there were during the day, they all dissipated at this moment, and the next day would be a new day when I wake up again.

Even though it was Saturday, I still had a day of classes to attend. Because I slept so late yesterday, I woke up with my brain in a constant state of confusion. But my instructors for today's class were very strict people, so I didn't dare to sleep in, so I just had to get up and listen carefully.

As a result, my condition did not get better until I was working at night. I made several mistakes, but luckily I had other waiters to cover for me to avoid the risk of being reprimanded by the manager.

The manager of the catering department was a strict and very snobbish person. If I made a mistake, he would lecture me very severely. The manager had a scary face himself, and his serious face was usually expressionless. I had seen many waitresses being scolded by him until they cried, so I was very afraid of him.

After the manager finished his daily rounds, I turned around and went to rub my head in the dead corner where the surveillance could not be seen. I tried to clear my head by doing so, but as soon as I looked up I saw Andre Vincent, whom I had resolved to stay away from yesterday, sitting at the table with his cute little angel, both of them with charming smiles on their faces, and later, Andre was raising his hand to greet me.

I was taken aback and for some reason suddenly had a feeling of being targeted by a predator, and for a moment my confused mind became a lot clearer.

I pretended not to see them and turned to go to the other side of the hall, but Andre Vincent was not willing to let me go so easily.

"Miss Emily, we would like to order."

I didn't expect this hateful man to call out my name so directly. Now that all the waiters and customers were looking at me, I could only turn around and walk towards him.

Damn it, why would he know my name?

The surrounding waiters were all looking at me with envious or jealous eyes. They thought it was a good job, but in my heart, I wished I could never cross paths with Andre Vincent again.

I cursed him in my heart and stood in front of Andre with a standard smile on my face, "Sir, may I take your order?"

"Yes, Miss Emily. I'd like this, this...oh, and this. And a sweet soup that children like to drink, please."

Without looking at the menu at all, he ordered a few of the most expensive dishes directly, and then returned the menu to me with a special order of sweet soup for Kate. After that, his gaze lingered on me, and his deep and charming eyes made me a little uncomfortable.

So I used the excuse of delivering the menu to run into the back kitchen, intending to wait until the food was served and then return. But there were so few people tonight that I could count the number of guests coming to the restaurant on one hand, so the food was served very quickly in the back kitchen.

The other waiters pushed the food cart in front of Andre very quickly, and I could only endure my discomfort and return to Andre's table again, intending to finish my last sentence and leave the place quickly.

"Mr. Vincent, your dishes are all here, please take your time and enjoy them."

"Miss Emily, I'd like you to sit down and eat with us."

"Sorry, Mr. Vincent, I have to serve other guests, enjoy your meal."

I directly rejected Andre's invitation, but how could a simple lamb beat a cunning hunter? Just as I was about to turn around and leave, he suddenly spoke again. "I have instructed your manager that it is your job to serve us tonight."

Shit!!!

I sat down in silence with a very uncomfortable expression. The cold air from the central air conditioning blew me uncomfortably, and the metal chairs of the restaurant had a chilly feeling against my skin. At that moment, Kate, who had been sitting next to me and had not said anything, suddenly tugged gently on my sleeve, rescuing me from the awkward atmosphere.

"I am Kate, thank you Emily. You saved me yesterday. Here is a gift I prepared for you, please be sure to take it." The little girl's voice was soft and well-behaved, so that my eyes could only follow her.

I happily accepted her gift, and the smile on Kate's face visibly became brighter again.

Oh my God, she looked like a little angel! How did someone as annoying as Andre Vincent give birth to such a lovely child as Kate?

"Emily, can you give Kate your phone number, Kate likes you, Kate wants to call you after school."

I was so overwhelmed by Kate's cute little face that I forgot I was sitting next to the annoying Andre, and of course, I didn't know that Andre was giving the little girl in front of me a thumbs up where I couldn't see her.

"Sure, I'll give you my number."

I pulled a piece of paper and wrote down a series of numbers, then folded the paper into a rose and gave it to Kate. the feeling of accomplishment I felt peaked after Kate let out a surprised cheer.

Just then, a large hand was placed on the back of my chair when I wasn't looking, and then touched my hair with its fingers.
