Chapter 3

"What are we supposed to pack?" Pascal, my wolf asked me in my head.

"I don't know." I said.

"Are we supposed to just go like that or what?" I asked Payne

"Just take a few clothes and shoes with you." Payne said. "I already packed mine yesterday."

"Is he the one who is to go find a mate or us?" Pascal, my wolf asked.

"I'm flabbergasted too."I said out loud.

"About what?" Payne asked.

"Nothing." I said sharply taking a travelling bag from my wardrobe.

"Keep talking to Pascal." Payne said.

I took some clothes from my wardrobe, removed the hangers and shoved them in the bag.

"Won't you at least fold them?" Payne asked sitting by the edge of my bed.

"I don't have time. Let's just go to the other world and get her." I said still shoving my clothes in.

"You think it's that easy. Oh hi I'm Sam, I'm your mate. Let's go." Payne said, mocking me.

"What do you expect me to do" I said dropping my traveling bag.

I carried my traveling bag and left the room with Payne

We walked out of the mansion, and we waved goodbye. As we were working away,Zane, Stuarts and the other elders approached us.

"We wish you good luck on finding your mate." Zane said.

We started working towards our kingdom border. We walked pass the thick bushes. The birds chirping away joyfully entertained us. Finally we got there . It was a 20 minutes journey.

"I have to go now. Take care of my kingdom." I said and they all waved goodbye.

I touched the empty space in front.

"Ooi mahh lehhh." I said the magical words and a sound like a door opening was heard.

I and Payne walked through. Low and behold we were in another world. It was fascinating and admirable. I have never seen a world like this. It's so different from our.

Gigantic buildings made of glass, is that even possible? Moving metals, people walking down the street. I and Payne watched for a while.

"How are we going to find your mate here? Do they even speak our language or anything?" Payne said breaking the silence.

"I'm as surprised as you are. I don't know what to do." I said as we both decided to walk round to see if we could find my mate.

I started sniffing any lady that passed by and they all have me this weird look.

"Do you think it's wrong to sniff someone here? They are all giving me this weird look." I asked Payne.

"Yes. I noticed too. Your fate is so harsh. How are you going to sniff out your mate?" Payne said bursting into laughter.

"I don't know what else to do." I said.

"We have to keep looking. Let's just keep walking forward."Payne said.

They walked and got to the end of the road. They had to cross but didn't know what to do as they were scared of the cars that zoomed to and fro.

"What are we going to do?" Payne said.

"We run. At the count of three." I said gripping my bag.

"Do you think if those moving metals hits us, we could die." Payne asked.

"I don't know." I answered.

"1,2,3." We counted together and crossed.

We didn't obey the traffic lights and the cars had to stop for us to pass, thus creating chaos.

Cars began to honk as we stopped in the middle of the road admiring a black car.

"How much do you think that cost?" I asked.

"No idea." Payne said.

"These humans are so lazy. In Moondoor we have to walk,no matter how far the distance is." I said.

"True." Payne agreed.

"They do know how to respect an alpha though ." I said.

"Keep thinking the world revolves around you." Payne said.

We both walked slowly dragging our bags with us as we crossed ignoring the drivers.

"Walk away you assholes." A driver screamed.

"We've been walking for hours now and we haven't found your mate. How big is this city? Where are we?" Payne asked as sweats dripped from his hair to his forehead.

"I'm as confused as you are. I don't know where I am." I said.

"Let's ask around." Payne suggested.

"Hello. I'm Payne from.." Payne greeted a young lady who happened to be passing by.

I coughed cutting Payne off.

"Can you please tell us where we are. What's the name of this city?" I asked.

"This is Iowa." The woman answered looking at us with disgust as she left.

"What is Iowa?" I asked.

"This is the reason why we aren't allowed to come to this world. You picked the wrong destiny bro." Payne said and tapped my shoulder, catching his breath.

"These bags are so heavy. I have to find my mate soon. Time is far spent." I said.

"You packed almost all your clothes. I only took two. I didn't know we'll spend much time like this. With the look of things we might spend a year finding your mate." Payne said.

"Don't curse me. I'm so tired and hungry. There would be problem if they don't spend the same money as ours." I said.

"Why did I follow you?" Payne said struggling with his bag.

"I should have just stayed back to protect your mansion for you." Payne said, stopping to catch his breath.

"Okay this says for rent. Let's ask how much it is so we can rest and reschedule looking for my mate." I suggested.

We both knocked on the brown wooden door.

"Let me knock." I whispered.

"No I want to knock." Payne whispered back.

We both knocked together again and I became furious.

"I said let me knock." I yelled.

"I'll be the one to knock." Payne countered.

"Slap him." Pascal,my wolf said.

They both continued to argue until the owner of the house opened the door.

"Hello. How may I help you?" An old woman with long white hair asked.

"We want to rent an apartment." They chorused.

"Oh. It's just one room. Come in and check how it looks like." The old woman said, moving away from the entrance, paving way for Payne and Sam to enter.

They waited for the old woman to close the door and come back to them as they stood still in the small sitting room. It has two brown leather chairs and an old television.

"Follow me." The old woman said as she lead them upstairs walking really slow.

They got upstairs and she opened a door. The room has one chair and a bed which was in the middle of the room. Payne and Sam walked into the room, checking it out. Payne walked to the other door. It was a wooden brown door. He opened it as it was a bathroom and toilet.

"Do you like it?" The old woman asked.

"No." I said sharply.

"Are you crazy? Do you think I have the strength to walk around again?" Payne said.

"We'll take the room ma. How much is the rent?" Payne asked.

"It's just two hundred dollars plus electricity, gas and water." The woman said as her voice cracked.

"What's dollars?" Payne whispered to me.

"I don't know." I said arching my brows.

"We don't have money ma. Can we pay later?" Payne asked.

"Do you have a job?" The woman asked. She walked to the chair in the room and sat down.

"No ma." Payne answered.

"Well my son has this coffee shop I'm managing but I'm too old to always be there." The woman said.

"We can work there." Payne said.

"Speak for yourself. How do you expect the alpha of a pack working in a coffee shop, serving people."I said with clenched teeth.

"Don't do it. You'll starve." Payne whispered back.

"I'm ready to work anytime any day ma." Payne said.

"How about your brother or friend?" The woman asked.

"He will work too ma. He gets shy when around people." Payne said.

"Nice meeting you guys. I'm Eleanor by the way." The old woman introduced herself standing up to shake their hands.

"Nice meeting you." Payne said.

"Nice meeting you." I said sitting down on the chair Eleanor just stood up from.

"My pleasure. Make yourselves comfortable and if you need anything call me. I'm also a good cook." Eleanor said and closed the door behind her.

"Seriously. We'll be working in a coffee shop now?" I questioned.

"Yes and that's all because of you." Payne said jumping on the bed letting out exasperated sighs.

"If I met my mate, she wouldn't like what I'll do to her for stressing me like this. What is she doing in a world like this?" Sam asked.

"Are you asking me? Ask her when you met her." Payne said.

I stood up and laid on the bed too.

"We can't share this bed." I said.

"Yes. I know right. You sleep on the floor I'll take the bed." Payne said.

"I'm an alpha, you are a beta. Get off the bed." I commanded.

"No." Payne said.

"Let me take over." Pascal said.

"Two can play the game." Fred,Payne wolf said.

I and Payne were already changing into his wolf form when they heard a slight knock on the door.

"Do you guys want spaghetti and sauce?" Eleanor asked.

We both changed back and rushed to open the door.

"Yes." We chorused.

"It's downstairs." Eleanor informed and walked away.

Payne and I glared at each other, blocking each other way.

"I'm getting there before you."I said.

"It's not possible." Payne replied.

"Are you here to help me find my mate or to eat?" I asked,an attempt to distract Payne.

"Both." Payne said sharply.

I pushed Payne away and ran downstairs as Payne ran behind him trying to keep up.

We both rushed to the dinning startling Eleanor.

We both grabbed the biggest plate.

"Let it go Payne." I said.

"No, you let it go." Payne said.

"Why are you guys fighting? The second plate too is from the same pot." Eleanor said.

"I want this." We both echoed.

"What if I add more to the second one will you take it,Sam?" Eleanor asked.

"Fine." I said handing over the plate to Payne.

"Consider yourself lucky." I whispered.

"Yen Yen Yen." Payne mocked, sitting and enjoying the spaghetti.

"This is so good." I moaned.

Eleanor added more spaghetti to my plate and I sat on the dinning

"So where are you guys from?" Eleanor asked.

"Moon..

"Iowa." I said cutting Payne off giving him a death glare.

"That's nice. What part of Iowa."Eleanor asked.

I and Payne looked blank until a knock is heard on the door.

The voices were inaudible but they weren't concerned. They just continued to eat and enjoy the spaghetti
