CHAPTER 10

The warm rays from the sun carefully caressed Emily's smooth skin as it peered through the gaping of the curtains and into the room. Without needing to open her eyes, a smile spread across Emily's face as she remembered the night before, having Jason return her feelings that she so desperately wanted him to return.

She batted her eyes lid open softly as a soft yawn escaped her lips while the sun now made its way to her face, getting her to flinch at the intense lighting and turn over to her side with a groan escaping her throat. She sighed out with admiration before glancing over her shoulder to where Jason had been lying in last night. To her surprise, Jason wasn't even in bed anymore and what remained was the empty cold side where a man was supposed to be sleeping in.

She gently sat up as her legs ached a bit but not too unbearable for her. Her eyes scanned the room for any possible sign of Jason but couldn't see him anywhere. The door leading to the bathroom as slightly ajar and the sound of the tap running filled her eyes almost instantly, getting her to smile out as she shoved her feet off the bed. Convincing herself that she didn't just hallucinate Jason last night.

She padded across the floor, hardly dressed as she walked towards the door where she peered from the spacing between the wall and the door only to frown at who was inside.

It wasn't Jason as she had expected, rather, a maid had walked herself in and began to scrub the bathroom sink and that was the reason for the running water sound that she heard. She sighed out almost with sadness as she walked towards the bed where she picked the dress just dangling at the edge of the bed. She slowly pulled it on with an uncomfortable thought coming to her head.

What if Kelvin had gotten what he wanted and since she was terrified, she had hallucinated Jason instead. That the entre incident was just a lucid dream to her and that Kelvin was now her mate.

The maid walked out of the bathroom minutes later holding a bucket and a mop in both hands, only to gasp when she noticed Emily already awake and standing by the bed, seeming troubled.

"Did I wake you up?" The maid asked as she smiled slightly when Emily glanced towards her. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make much noise, and I really tried to be quiet." Emily couldn't help but notice the maid holding back a grin and she knew why the maid wanted to grin out. It's because the maid had always wanted to see Emily become a woman and be with the man whom she loved. The maid had been with Emily ever since her parents brought her in as a child and when the parents were busy, the maid took over in caring for her.

She was in her mid-sixties now but always saw Emily as her own daughter, since she couldn't have her own because of a complication.

"You hardly made any noise." Emily chuckled nervously as she clenched onto her fists and bit onto her lip as she wanted to ask her if she had seen Jason this morning. But she was too afraid to since Jason was still a married man and eleven years older than she was. "I woke up by myself..." She said in a mummer as she ran a hand through her hair. "Um... Did you see... Someone... Uh... Someone in the morning here?" She asked and the maid blinked at her for a moment, getting Emily to feel the heat rush up her cheeks as embarrassment hit her sharply.

"Do you mean Jason?" The maid asked with raised brows as she noticed Emily's uncomfortable face.

"Um..." Emily looked around herself only to nod slowly as she glanced towards the ground. Unable to stare at the maid in the eyes.

"He left very early in the morning." The maid began as she placed her buckle on the floor and the mop against the wall, making sure it doesn't fall over. "He seemed to be rushing out so I didn't get to ask him where he was going."

"Oh." Emily nodded, wondering why Jason would be running out of the room when it hit her. Jason was a married man and had already attended a mating ceremony once before. If he was seen with another woman whilst with a wife, many of the pack members would scold him for it surely. "Um... Mrs. Corbett, I...." She struggled with the words to say, getting the maid, Mrs. Corbett to smile softly at her, understanding exactly what she wanted to say. "I..."

"I know, sweetie." She chuckled as she walked over to Emily who let out a shaky breath as Mrs. Corbett wrapped her arms around Emily and gently stroked her hair. "I've always known you loved Jason even though he was eleven years older than you and had a wife. I've always seen the way you smiled and became a cheerful woman when he was around." She whispered as Emily smiled slightly.

"Do my parents know...?" She asked as she gently leaned from Mrs. Corbett who gazed down at her with tender soft eyes. "Did they hear...?"

"They support you, darling." She assured her and led her to the bed where they sat down. Mrs. Corbett took Emily's hand and placed it on her thigh as she slowly patted her hand, failing to contain the smile on her face. "We understand you and why you did not accept Kelvin. You trust Jason so much that with him, your past doesn't stand in the way and that is true love. We cannot stand in the way of your feelings to Jason because we want you to be happy. However, we can't force Jason to bend to our will and be by your side because he is a married man and needs to make the decision himself. Your parents are not mad at you for engaging with Jason. They just hope you made the right decision and you are happy with it." She explained, getting Emily's eyes to soak. "So, Emily, are you happy?"

"Yes." She reached her free hand to wipe her tears of joys as she smiled weakly. "Thank you.... I thought you would be mad at me."

"No, we wouldn't. We will support you in any way." She smiled and stood up, walking towards her mop and bucket. "It's nearly ten, I will tell the chefs to prepare your breakfast. Take a bath and come eat okay dear?" She asked as she walked to the door. Emily nodded her head with a smile before she walked out of the room and closed the door softly behind her. Emily sighed out with a wide grin, knowing she had nothing to worry about so far. Her parents were supportive of her decision.

She instantly jumped off the bed and walked to the bathroom.
