Chapter 2: Tiny whispers

Chapter 2: Tiny whispers

Camie and I were still clinging to the cliff wall at the critical moment, which was far almost midnight at the time. That Camie couldn't cling onto the cliff any longer with her claws was a shame, but I couldn't do anything about it. I, too, was frantic for assistance, and I was unable to aid her since we were both on the point of plunging to our deaths!

"Camie, please just hang in there a little longer, okay?" When Camie began to make the sound of a pet in desperate need of assistance, I sought to console her by saying, "We'll get out of this danger."

When the cool wind of the night's air swept over us, Camie was unable to keep her grip on the situation any longer. She hurled herself down the cliff with a resounding yell, her gaze fixed on my eyes as if she were saying farewell.

"No!" I exclaimed, tears were falling from my eyes. I squeezed my lips together as I glanced in front of me and up at the sky filled with stars. "I'm going to die," I sobbed out loud and yelled, wishing those who had done this to me and my family an end that would never come. I used my right hand to keep my weight from collapsing and my left hand to hastily wipe away the tears that were streaming down my face.

I officially became an adult as the clock struck twelve o'clock midnight, marking the beginning of my eighteenth birthday. Hah... What a wonderful day! It was she who transformed into a werewolf with the same body and fur as Camie. I took use of my wolf's strength and the projecting rocks to climb away from the edge of the cliff. I became stronger as a result of my thoughts for Camie, and I was capable of recovering my strength. I was well aware that going into this little cliff below would still result in my falling, but at the very least, the impact of the fall would be mitigated.

However, destiny appeared to be conspiring against me as the cliff was broken in half, causing me to plummet into the body of water. In contrast to Camie, whose head was struck by a huge boulder at the shore of the lake and she sank under the surface of the water, I was fortunate in that I fell straight to the water with just a little impact on my head. However, the effect was not as anticipated, and my wolf started to lose my ability to move my body, especially my head.

My vision was clouded, but I was able to keep my eyes open despite the presence of water. The water was able to enter my ears as a result of the hit, and I was unable to maintain touch with myself at all. I thought about my parents, my friend Chelsa, and Camie before closing my eyes.

And with that, it seemed as though everything disappeared.

I, the second son of the half-moon wolf pack's Alpha, was on my way back to my wolf pack in the wee hours of the morning. Aside from the prospect of returning home, I was busy training in swordsmanship with my pack and other werewolves during this time period as well.

It is with our sword that we strike close to home, eliminating all of the plants and trees that we consider a nuisance to our way. We intended to test the sharpness of our newly manufactured swords by putting them through our paces. It was also clear that we were working in tandem with the wolves due to the fact that we were capturing any limb or tree that managed to escape after we had hacked it down.

We were labeled as having a good time by the precise adjective we used to describe our situation right now.

"Isn't it possible that your father would reprimand you if we arrived this late?" My closest buddy inquired, a troubled look on his face as he posed the question. He seems apprehensive to follow my lead in leaving the house at such an ungodly hour.

I ordered my wolf bodyguard to come to a halt. I went off and confronted my closest buddy. "Don't be concerned about that, my father would understand as long as we explain," I assured with a chuckle.

"How about your brother?"

I was going to return, but when I heard this question, I came to a complete stop. "The odds are that he will go to any length to harm your life. The majority of the time, he'd view our travels and training as preparation for a revolt," my friend continued. When I turned back, I saw a similar expression on the faces of my companions.

Their minds were consumed by fear and overthinking.

In the midst of my profound thoughts, there was this small voice inside my brain that sounded similar to my deceased mother, telling me to go towards the closest body of water from where we were. I moved my head around, seeking for the closest shore, as though I had no idea what had triggered this strange thinking.

"Ryan, what are you looking for? Did you have a sneaking suspicion?" The question came from my best friend.

When I concentrated his ears on my immediate surroundings, I did not detect anything unusual. I had a difficult time deciding whether to follow my ideas or simply ignore them since I was not used to disregarding what my mind had whispered to me before.

Prompting me to shake my head and order everyone to flee, suddenly, one of the werewolves howled a short distance away from their location. That roaring scared me a little since I assumed it was a wolf from our enemy's side, which I suspected it was. Nevertheless, when I took a look around and realized that one of us was missing, I speculated that the one who howled was one of our werewolves, and that, something had occurred in that region. I motioned for everyone to follow him.

As soon as we started following the wolf's howling and the loudness of the howling increased, we realized that we had arrived to the nearby shore. We couldn't see anything since the wolf was blocking our view, but as the wolf moved to the side; we were able to glimpse a naked woman sleeping above a wide, soil-leveled stone, which we had not seen before. Her whole body was enveloped with a massive leaf.

"What exactly is that lady doing sleeping in this freezing cold?"

"I don't think she is sleeping, Valderome," I corrected him as he walked closer to the lady. "Look at her," I pointed out that she had scars on her body and that the side of her head had been wounded.

I was going to put his hand on this woman's shoulder to check her, when this naughty friend of mine stopped and cautioned me that this may be a trap set by his brother. I, on the other hand, did not pay attention to him because I believed on my views, which were strengthened by the spiritual direction of my mother. I flipped the woman's body while making sure that the other side of her body isn't visible from anyone. I attempted to rouse her up by tapping her face, but the woman seemed to be unwell and unconscious. Her face is soiled and smeared with grime.

I thought about my situation and finally decided not to get into any trouble. When I want to just leave her to die, the voice in my head that had been gone for years reappeared.

"Save her! Ryan! She can help you."

"Permit me to bring her along with us."
