Chapter 7: Hue of strength

Despite my repeated instructions, Ryan paid no attention to what I was saying to him. The presence of these colossal beasts seemed to put me in a state of confusion, where I couldn't tell the difference between my memories and what was actually happening. I had a vision of myself dangling from the edge of a cliff, but I was young and accompanied by a small wolf in that particular scenario. A few minutes after the little wolf died, I was transformed into a werewolf, and I was out in the woods for about an hour before I transformed back into a werewolf.

A child's voice screamed urgently for aid, and I heard it for the first time: "Please, help me! My mum has not waking up!" With the blink of an eye, I recognized that the definite voice had come from reality; and as a result, I saw a figure from a distance, exactly as when my eyes abruptly collapsed into little, blue eyes, a figure of a stylish woman in red nails, and that figure belonged to none other than Katelyn Vicky herself.

Katelyn was simply standing there, staring at the poor child's plight, I could see through my closed, stilled eyelids. Her mother has passed away, but she is completely unaware of it. Her mother was devoured by one of the werewolves from the sibling of the aforementioned Ryan. Although Katelyn came to a complete halt for a brief period, she soon resumed her journey with her long dress and high heels in hand. As soon as she realized that the gorgeous picture of that higher class daughter had just shown her true colors, the small, impoverished girl screamed out.

It breaks my heart to be witness to such inhumanity in the world today. It sounded as though it were bleeding in silence and cracking with horrible groans. I took a quick look at Ryan to make sure he was okay before continuing. He himself transformed into a werewolf, and when I saw his men accompanying him in the fight against those wild werewolves, I used my ability to accelerate to rush towards the location of the little girl, blurring my surroundings in the process. Her face lit up as she realized she was in the company of a youngster. However, just as I was about to get closer to her, the walls on the left side of the building collapsed, causing me to lose my balance as my back bumped against the other side of the infrastructure.

When I looked down at the cut on my right elbow, I exhaled loudly.

As I struggled to regain consciousness and rebalance my body, I was surrounded by cement rubble. A werewolf with unkempt fur and squinting eyes came out of the hole in the wall as soon as I saw it on the light side, and he was ready to take advantage of my ignorance! Immediately, my eyes widened and I forced myself to turn over to the other side before this ferocious beast could open its lips and devour me alive! However, one aspect of my personality that baffled me the most was my ability to respond to certain events as quickly as I did when I was younger. I was stunned and stopped in place, wondering how on earth I had managed to accomplish such a thing!

"Miss, be on the lookout!" As soon as I heard this little girl's voice in the middle of a thought, an electric shock surged through my body, jolting me back to reality.

However, because I realized the situation too late, the wolf successfully trapped me on the ground with its annoying howl, and I ended up on the ground for several hours. The green, grassy-like crystalline eyes of this creature resembled a cross between a beast and a human in appearance. When I looked into it, it was as if I was making eye contact with a human being rather than a werewolf, which was strange. My mind was frozen as a result of this unexpected encounter, and my arms were still defending myself against its attack with its teeth and wiggling head.

Camie!" An internal monologue of mine suddenly screamed in the form of a whisper inside my head, accompanied by the awful, helpless howl of a small werewolf. That's when I realized the guy yelling was myself, and that small thing was my deceased werewolf from earlier.

My eyes opened as I heard that sound, and my chest appeared to rise as if it were about to drown in the flood of that memories. The werewolf I was now confronting had scratched a wound in my arm with its sharp claws, causing me to fall to one side in agony as I rolled to the other. But the strangeness didn't stop there; I noticed that my eyes had changed from their normal human color of brown to a slight flash of dirty gray, as if they were preparing to turn a shade of blue, and this unexplained energy had suddenly risen up, causing me to realize that everything in my body, including my senses, had been activated by something I couldn't comprehend!

As a result, I punched this werewolf straight in the neck, causing this strange creature to scream in agony as a result. I could conclude that this beast is a male based on his manly appearance, the presence of a reproductive system on the outside, and the powerful howl he makes. He took a few steps back and made that irritating sound that sounds like a grown-up version of a dog being hurt.

In a hurry, I took advantage of the situation and offered assistance to the small child. I rushed over to her and assisted her in standing up. It looked like she had a small wound on her knees, and she had dirt all over her face. She looked at me with a helpless expression on her face as she asked for assistance, "M-Miss... Please assist me and us... Please assist my mother..." My heart softened when I heard her childish voice. After a quick check on her mother, I discovered that she had passed away, as I had suspected.

"Your mother isn't breathing right now," I explained to her gently.

"What we should do?" Her eyes were aching with pain as she asked me the question.

I bowed my head and looked down. I turned around and massaged the back of her head before facing her again. "There's nothing else we can do but flee," I insisted emphatically. You should get out of here as soon as possible! Exit the building and find a place with plenty of plants where you may hide amongst the bushes."

"B-But, I don't want to leave my mother..." she whimpered, tears streaming down her face.

My lips began to open in an attempt to persuade her, but just as I was going to tell this youngster about it, the werewolf howled as loudly as he could. Using his claws, he clawed the floor, releasing the spirit of the warrior inside him that was ready for combat. He stared me in the eyes with his whole attention. And his stare was ready to devour me in a matter of seconds!

I turned to face the kid and, in a flurry, pushed her away while yelling, "Run!" I turned back to face the youngster.

When I turned my gaze back to the wolf, he shoved me into the wall with his head, causing me to fall to my knees in pain. To my surprise, I didn't experience much discomfort, in contrast to what I had experienced earlier, and when I happened to glance at my elbow, the wound had vanished. Initially, I thought I was hallucinating and shook my head to be sure, but I wasn't! I quickly rose to my feet and locked my gaze on the werewolf's eyes.

A second time, the wolf lunged at me, but my reflexes pushed him to the ground as my body flashed to one side, making it difficult for the wolf to stand back up. Nonetheless, his green eyes became even brighter and more vibrant in color, as if they were bursting with life. He became more erratic, and he appeared to be more stressed as a result of his squint.

He screamed and howled once more.

He responded with several attacks, all of which I successfully countered. He was knocked down a number of times, but he did not give up easily. By the time he was able to lift his body again, several wolves had arrived to assist him. I became more excited about the situation rather than worried after looking at his affiliates, and he became more confident after looking at his affiliates.

The fact that I looked right into his eyes instead going away gave him the idea that I was challenged by the circumstance rather than being horrible to it. Finally, as I had predicted, my eyes went completely blue, flashing at my pupils and alerting him to the fact that something had changed. Nevertheless, much to my disbelief, after I noticed the change in color in my eyes, he abruptly backed up a few steps with his associates.

They howled a tiny sound in chorus as they looked at each other and made an unusual sound, as if they were indirectly communicating with each other through their howling. They were striving to flee, but it seemed like there was a notion in their thoughts that caused them to give up on their quest to escape. Perhaps, if they do, Ryan's brother will assassinate them on the spot.
