Chapter 2

Isabella's POV

A chill came over me and I woke up with a start. There was a werewolf in front of me, he was quite close to me, his hand lingered on my coat button and I had no trouble guessing what he wanted to do next.

He was one of the top warriors in this pack. When I was announced as a breeder, he shot me a very revealing look, obviously, he took me as a gift that he could do with his hands.

I wanted to fight back, but the intense pain in my chest told me that my ribs were broken. If I moved around, it was likely to pierce the rest of my organs.

"I'm a breeder, you can't touch me. Only Liam can." I made my tone sound as threatening as possible. "I think you know very well what the consequences of disobeying him will be."

"You're no threat to me here, great 'Breeder'. It was Liam who asked me to come. Don't you know he has a fetish about cleanliness and doesn't want to see blood?" He looked as if what I said was something funny.

"Your first night was rewarded to me."

I fought to throw him a slap. But what I didn't expect was that I was held directly by him and pressed against the wall to break my mouth. His force was so strong that I felt my jawbone almost being crushed by him.

Then he stuffed a pill into my mouth. He snapped my face and grabbed my head and shook it hard, as if he was treating a wolf pup. I was forced to swallow the pill, and my throat felt so painful as lava had flowed through.

I knew this drug, it would make me quickly lose my mind and became a beast of obedience to desire.

I felt my blood rolling all over my body and I was losing my strength, which was clearly the effect of the drug.

"I've wanted to get you for a long time. You are so beautiful and dressed that sexy, you are clearly tempting me..." he was babbling, while his hands did not stop moving.

As there was a strong scratching noise, my jacket was torn straight in half, and in desperation I closed my eyes in pain.

"It's now!" Mia yelled in my head.

Her roar sobered me up a few notches. I flexed my legs and kicked violently toward the werewolf in front of me, and his roar was the most moving tone I'd heard all day.

"How dare you do this to me? I'm going to teach you a lesson!" He stood up in pain, grabbed the bench and swung it over. I bit down on the back of my own hand, almost biting off a piece of flesh directly, which kept myself sane.

But he was obviously frightened by my action and took a few steps back and leaned directly against the wall.

"You probably don't know it yet, but your resistance is useless." Even though he had been hit hard by me, his voice was still very stubborn in the background.

I leaned warily against the wall, resting while listening to his frantic speech. He clearly took my look as submissive and his expression became more confident.

"If you don't get someone to ease the effects of the drug, soon you'll explode like a balloon, like a piece of shredded flesh..." His tone was very intense, but obviously very smug.

"Obviously, I am the best person for this. You surely don't want to die yet, so why don't you just obey me?"

Just as he was about to pounce again, I suddenly raised my hand and jammed it around his neck.

"Ka-chow."

I endured intense pain and snapped his neck alive. And he didn't even have time to close his eyes. I pulled off a piece of cotton cloth to bandage the wound on my hand, and heavily kicked the body to the ground.

I'm sure he didn't expect that someone like me, who was not in his sights, also had the strength to fight back and even take his life outright.

"A qualified warrior is never lightly defeated." I meditated on the words Mia taught me in my mind and put my jacket back on.

The next step was to run for my life.

The location of the cell was better than the orphanage. I silently recalled the terrain in my head and let out another long breath, turning into my wolf shape.

In wolf state, my senses were unusually sensitive, and the running speed would be very fast. I sniffed carefully, but unexpectedly found that there was no life at all in the vicinity.

This was unusual, but I didn't even have room to think carefully. I pushed the door open and hurriedly ran towards the outer edge of the territory.

"It must be because you hid your power so well before, that's why they thought you couldn't beat that wolf just now. As I said, you did a great job." Mia said in my mind. "Those guards must have thought you couldn't escape before they dared to slip away from guarding you without fear. But that's a mistake you don't want to make."

I knew she was simply better at talking, so I let her go. But I was still curious as to why there were no guards.

However, the important thing at the point was not to argue with my own wolf about this, but how to escape this place completely. The wolves have the link and the Alpha can sense me, so I didn't have much time.

I had been able to adapt to the pain from the wound on my hand, and even if it now changed to be a claw stomping me on the ground, it wouldn't hurt any stronger. But in this case, the original drug effect became more obvious.

My consciousness was starting to blur. My body was on fire, as if I was in the crater of some volcano.

But this time I was very lucky and actually made it to a place I hadn't been last time. It was already considered a wooded area, and the chilly wind restored my sanity a little.

"You should have noticed that, right? There's another guy back there." Mia reminded me. "Watch out."

I shifted direction to run towards the diagonal front, and he still followed me like that. So it was obvious that he was just staring at me.

I was in a state where I obviously couldn't power up again, so I had to quicken my pace. But without expecting it, he kept such a distance from me that could be called polite. Until finally leaving the territory of the wolves completely, he didn't take a step forward.

This time I knew that he was helping me. He would never be my enemy.

I inclined my head in a nod of greeting and continued running towards the outside again. I wiped my face. I didn't know when I started to cry.

But it was clearly moved to tears. Because I'd no longer be held hostage by the White Birch Pack from now on. Maybe I'd be a lone wolf scorned by others, but so what, it's a much better fate than the one I would have faced.

Liam's POV

I perceived from the wolf link that Isabella left the pack.

But how did she escape? She actually managed to leave so easily?

"Wow!" I was so angry that I couldn't speak and directly dropped everything on the table to the floor. The attendants around me knelt down in fear, and it was even more annoying to watch me.

"You guys go and find Isabella back!"

What a bunch of idiots! I can't believe that none of them could immediately understand my intention.

It didn't take long for them to drag the body of the soldier out of the cell. I called out to them and took another serious look at the body.

I could tell that he must have been beaten up badly before he died.

If this is what she did, then she did have the strength to block my punch as well.

"This woman is crazy, how could she have killed her mate!"

They completely ignored my orders and none of them even thought to go after her.

"That's a top-notch fighter, how did she do it?"

I feel more annoyed.

"She's actually this strong!"

That's enough!

"She knew, she knew all along! That bitch tricked me!" I roared and hammered my fist on the ground, the dirt flew up and landed on the faces of those wolves, and they stopped the racket.

"What are you talking about?"

I wasn't even in the mood to pay attention to the man who asked. The irritation in my mind was almost at its peak, so I just waved my knife through his direction casually.

After the man's head hit the ground, there was no more raucous questioning around me. But I also did not calm down at all.

That bitch! She must be hiding her strength! But who told her about her parentage? That thing should be rotten in the belly of everyone!

I am sure that there must be traitors in this wolf pack.

Traitors won't walk out of here alive.

I swept my skeptical eyes over everyone in the room. Now, everyone is not to be trusted.

Isabella's POV

"Can I cut the link with the pack?" I asked the wolf in my head as I ran.

At this point, I had reverted to my human form. Because I realized that the wolf state was rather more obvious.

"It took a while, but I had dealt with this. It's just that I needed a break." Mia said wearily. "But Liam must have found that you ran away. You need to be ready."

I responded and continued to struggle to walk forward.

"Sasha..."

It was so quiet around me that I could only hear my own heartbeat. But it was beating faster and faster. This is obviously not normal.

"Thump!"

I ran out of strength and slowly fell to my knees against the tree. Although the surrounding temperature was not high, I still felt my cheeks burning and my blood seemed to boil like hot water.

"If what he said is true, then I should be at the end of my rope." I laughed helplessly.

In the middle of this forest, there's really not much I can do.

I'd thought of countless ways to die, but this was definitely not the way it should be. I should be a warrior who dies in the struggle, not a "traitor" who bursted into pieces because of the damned drug.

This was just too tragic.

"There's a cave over there." Mia reminded me. "I don't know why, but I think you should be better off going over there."

I had no other choice but to trust her instincts. I dragged my heavy feet and slowly moved over.

If I was going to die, then at least I should die a slightly more decent death. Then this cave was certainly a good choice.

But when I walked in I realized that there was already a man hiding inside. He sat in the dark, and his eyes were glowing, like a fierce beast lurking in the forest.

But the moment I looked at him, I just felt my limbs tingling and could no longer use my strength.

My mind went blank as if a butterfly had landed on my heart.

At that moment I knew that he must be my mate.
