Chapter 4

Just then, a hand laid on her shoulder, and she shrieked.

'Are you okay?" the dangerously sexy voice sounded behind her ear.

'Huh?" Alexia raised her head and looked at the man in front of her. His voice pierced her ears.

It took a while for Alexia to get herself, she turned to her front then answered,

'I am fine."

Thinking about it again, she decided to speak her mind.

'You know what, I am not fine. I don't want my dad to marry my ex-best friend. I don't want her to become my stepmom and think of taking my mom's place." Alexia let out, breathlessly. She didn't know that she had been holding her breath all this while.

The strange man listened to her, then he sat beside her. He was wearing a black hoodie that covered his forehead and it was late, Alexia couldn't see his face and she didn't bother to.

'So, what do you want to do?" he asked.

'I... I don't know. I just... I want to see him happy but I feel like this is not the way to his happiness," she said, looking into space.

'If you want to see him happy maybe you should do what will make him happy. One day, he will realize that what you said was true but right now, he is too blinded by love to see that. And if it does make him happy, then you'll know you fulfilled your part," the strange man ad iced.

'So I should pay ten million dollars for his wedding?" Alexia asked, she gently took her face to his. However, It was dark, she couldn't see his face well.

'To me it's ridiculous!" he answered.

Alexia laughed and he did the same. Tired, she rested her head on the shoulder of the stranger, not minding that she had just met him.

'He is all I have. He is the only family I have left." She muttered, her eyes gently clamped shut and darkness engulfed her in seconds.

Alexia gently opened her eyes, she looked around the room, it was very familiar. She sat up hastily and looked around again. It was indeed familiar because it was her room.

'Gosh, what happened?" She touched her forehead, she could only remember talking to the stranger at the lakeside. Realizing she had slept off on the stranger's shoulder, she opened her mouth wide.

'What if he was a criminal? How could I even sleep off with a stranger by my side?" She chided herself and got off the bed.

She walked to the bathroom and then took her bath. Still chiding herself mentally, she brushed her teeth and then took her bath. After she was done, she came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her chest. Alexia wasted no time getting dressed for work, she skipped work yesterday, and she didn't want to do the same again.

Picking her keys off the table, she turned around and saw Fiona walking into her room.

'Good morning, ma'am." Fiona greeted.

'How did I get home yesterday?" Alexia was still puzzled about that. She wondered if the stranger had brought her home.

'Madam, someone called me yesterday and said to pick you up. I had to call the driver and we both picked you off yesterday, also, the driver carried you into your room as you were deep asleep," she replied.

'Oh, thank you, then," Alexia replied then walked out of her room with Fiona walking by her side.

As she walked, the thought of the stranger infiltrated her mind. She wondered who he was and mentally thanked God that he was not a criminal or even a rapist, the story would have been entirely different.

Just then, her phone beeped. She mindlessly picked up the phone from her handbag and then opened the message that came in.

It was from a strange number.

^I enjoyed talking to you last night^

Signed, you secret admirer.

Alexia sighed at the message she had read. She didn't even think it could be him.

'So I finally met him last night and I didn't pay attention to him." Alexia rolled her eyes.

'Okay now, I want to know him." She spoke to herself and then walked down the stairs. However, she hadn't reached half of the way when she saw a young, tall man with brown hair walking up to her.

He wore an overall coat with a black suit that fitted his tall and slender body.

'Henry?!" Alexia called excitedly, watching as he walked toward her.

Remembering she was supposed to be angry, she walked to her husband and punched him playfully by the side.

'I call you repeatedly!" she feigned anger.

Henry bent gently to her level, he kissed her lips and pulled her into a hug.

'You won't believe what happened to me," he started.

'Oh my gosh, what happened?!" she asked, worry and apprehension shaping her face.

Henry sighed, he let go of her and then turn to the room. Alexia walked behind him quickly. When he reached the room, he picked out the traveling bag and placed it on the bed, he began to pack all of his clothes into the bag with a sad expression.

'What are you doing, Henry? Are you okay?" she asked, following him as he packed the clothes to and fro.

Henry didn't say anything, he continued until he emptied the wardrobe.

He zipped the bag and laid it on the floor beside him.

By this time, Alexia had begun to cry.

'What did I do to you? I didn't do anything but love you and here you are packing your things. We just got married and you want to leave me already?!!!" she barked at him, looking exhausted.

Henry sighed and walked closer to her, then he pulled her into a hug. Alexia was small compared to him. Her baby face had become puffy and her black long hair stuck to her wet face.

'I would never leave you. I love you so much Alexia and being with you has been nothing but my dream."

Their heart beat-synced together as he said these words. It was silent and only his voice and her heartbeat could be heard.

'But I have to take care of some things. I want to tell you but I can't. If I tell you, you will be so worried and the last thing I want is for you to be worried."

He paused and disengaged from her. He took his hand to her face and gently wiped her eyes, she looked at me intensely.

'I love you that much so let me carry this burden alone. Please don't ever forget I love you so much and you are here in my heart every day and every time. I'm sorry for not picking up your calls but I promise now, I will start picking up every one of your calls and call you every day," he said every word with truthful and watering eyes.

His voice was all tensed and the way his hand gently shook showed how frantic he was.

'I love you so much Alexia," he said, placed a kiss on her forehead, and made his move to walk away.

Alexia watched as he turned his back.

'I love you," he added and walked out fully.

'Henry..."

She called because she felt the way he tensed up. She knew something was wrong with him like he was terrified of something. Alexia's bag fell from her hands and she watched his retreating figure. Subconsciously, she called his name.

'Henry!"
