Danger

Kimberly's eyes were closed, she knew she was dead, but then, nothing happened.

She counted the seconds in her head until she reached sixty, slowly, she opened her eyes and gasped when she couldn't find the wolf anymore. Rather, what she saw shocked her to her foundation, it was the alpha who had conducted the meeting a while ago.

"Mr. Alpha," she gasped as she scrambled backward.

Lucas was displeased when the lady did that, he was mad at her.

"Who sent you to eavesdrop on me, witch?" he called out asking his question directly.

For a split second, Kim was confused about what was been asked. She looked around, but only she was there, she assumed the man was talking to her.

"I beg your pardon?" she said he eyes as bright as the moon. The light from the moon only caused it to illuminate brightly, her hair like red flames of hell.

Lucas gave her a disgruntled look, he hated being cheated, and people acting like innocent souls. He didn't want an impostor as a mate.

"You heard me. Now tell me who the hell asked you to peek at me? and that camera? you took pics, right? I saw you," Alpha Lucas accused his voice as deadly as never before.

Realization dawned on Kimberly that the man must have mistaken her for an eavesdropper ok a mission.

"You must be mad, Alpha, I only came here for a walk, I don't care if you were having your goddamn meeting at the time I decided to take a walk here," the lady shot out.

Lucas glared close at her, she had a sharp tongue and looked young. She was probably in her early twenties, that sharp nose of hers was evident, he couldn't keep his eyes from her face, those plum lips of hers, full bottom lip, and a thin upper lip was just priceless.

"Don't be rude, miss stalker, no one sent you here at this ungodly hour. If you would have started your walk from the ridge, you would have seen the none trespassing sign on it," Lucas roared.

He was literally losing his patience, Kimberly was all sweaty, but she knew she had to be brave. It meant talking to the devil and leaving this forest alive, she would do so.

She had seen the signs, it had been everywhere, but her inquisitive nature had taken the best out of her, she just wanted to admire this place, and that was all. Well, she was in trouble now.

"Will you eat me?" Kimberly asked.

Lucas's thoughts were truncated, he had been contemplating what to do, but killing his mate was one thing he wasn't ready to do.

"Most likely, but I am not in the mood," Lucas shot out with every nerve he had in his body to control himself.

Kimberly bit her lower lip, she was thinking, she wanted to go, more likely, but she wondered if the man was going to grant her the permission.

"Can I... go? I promise I wouldn't dare utter a word of what I saw just now, I don't care if you are from the demi-world, I don't believe in it, and I can give you my word on that?" Kimberly shot out nicely.

The young man contemplated hardly, he should accept it, but he felt disgusted by the female altogether. Toying her might give him peace.

"What if I settle on killing you instead? it will save me a lot of stress, you know?" Lucas said instantly.

Tears bubbled up in the lady's eyes, she didn't want to die, she has a new life to live, she felt like leaving Los Angelos for New York will be a new start for her, well, it is only getting worse.

Mustering the last of her courage, she spoke bravely to the strange man before her.

"Kill me, Alpha? come on, I know I seem to attract the worse, but death shouldn't be an option, I have a dream to..." Kimberly was cut short when Lucas raised a hand.

"To hell with your dreams," he growled out.

Kimberly swallowed hard.

She heard howls from the distance and the voices were soon approaching.

Lucas knew it was the rest of his pack, he turned towards his mate and grabbed her by the wrist, he pinned her against the tree trunk.

He was startled by the electric shock that went through his body. He willed Wolfer to stay calm as he addressed the lady.

"You will stay here and wait for me. Not a single sound from you, understood?" he asked once raising his brows achingly.

Kimberly couldn't respond, her body was on fire, she watched how green the stranger's eyes were, his face, a priceless work of art. Something tightened in her throat.

Without wasting a second for a reply, Lucas turned around, transformed into his wolf nature, and disappeared into the heart of darkness.

Kimberly was in awe, her legs quivered, she knew she shouts never have ventured, she couldn't possibly tell Paige what she had just witnessed in this forest.

Paige was her best friend, and she was the person she was going to live with once she arrives in New York.

Without taking heed to what the aloha had said to her, Kimberly started off, running once more into the forest, she discovered that she had lost the entrance she had taken to enter this enchanted forest.

Kimberly knew she was in for the night, for the first time in eight years, since her parents had died in that car accident, she literally filled the fear grip through her, she was scared, this forest had proven to be filled with supernatural creatures.

"I am doomed," she said as she kept on running, she ran until she couldn't feel her leg anymore, and then, she slipped rolling till she reached the edge of a cliff.

She was suspended to a tree branch, below was a deep pit of darkness.

For the first time in eight years, Kimberly felt like she needed help to overcome this fear of hers.
