Lies and Pictures
"We couldn't find any more people, Alpha. Could you find the lady? should we continue our search?" Gary asked his eyes flickering with worry.
Alpha Lucas knew the lady was his name, he didn't want to put her in the face of danger before his pack elders, thus he shook his head in negation.
"That wouldn't be necessary. I believe the meeting has been closed for tonight," Lucas shot out at them.
Gary was his Beta, he knew when not to oppose him, and thus, abide by what he had said.
"We will return to the Blue Moon pack house then," Gary said to him.
He nodded his head as he watched them retreat, and then, he heard the question he had been dreading since he got there.
It was Caleb who shorted it at him.
"What about the lady?" Caleb's thin voice penetrated the air, and the rest of the elders turned to hear what the alpha had done with the lady.
"I killed her. Now, I want to search this forest myself, will meet you all at the pack house, make sure it is well guarded," Lucas said.
He was aware of the death stares that sliced through him, but he did not look backward, he transformed and ran to the wild, where he had asked the lady to wait for him, and she wasn't there.
"Damn you, mate!" he spat out to himself.
Then, he heard a sharp piercing cry that seared through the night.
"Alpha!" he heard the voice call out to him.
It was a distant cry, more like he plead. Cursing under his breath, he chased off towards the direction he had heard the cry until he came towards the cliff where he saw the lady hanging dangerously towards the edge.
Lucas was a man again, with his power, he easily got the lady out of the cliff. His face contorted with anger.
"You little troublemaker, I asked you to wait for me, not run away," he said.
Kimberly's eyes were filled with tears, she was grateful for the man in front of her, she was alive because of him.
"Thank you," she said cleaning her eyes off.
Alpha Lucas stopped to gawk at her, he was in shock by her gratitude, then, he saw her tear streaked face.
"Do not cry," he said brushing off the tears from her cheeks.
"I want to go back to the hotel, I have had enough of this scary night," Kimberly murmured.
She had lost every ounce of will power to fight tonight, she was a fighter at her, she was strong, but Lucas was stronger, he could harm her if he wanted to, she was at his mercy.
"Please, help me," Kim added when the man hesitated to help her.
For a while, Lucas's eyes danced wearily on the lady's face, out of frustration, he started towards a dark path. Kim followed him in mock silence, wondering why he wasn't yet done with her.
Shortly after they had walked to safety, Lucas stopped at the edge of the forest, the hotel how appeared in front of then, the man had barely uttered a word, so had Kimberly.
The lady wondered if she was supposed to disappear just like that. She halted, ran towards the alpha, and hugged her.
"You are kind, my stranger Alpha, I do not know how to thank you enough, but I would never forget you for saving me," she said warmly.
Lucas' hard expression was hard to tell if he was mad or happy, but before he could say a word, he watched in delight how the lady stood on tiptoe and brushed her lips against his.
Wolfer's howl made Lucas almost go mad, his wolf was literally overjoyed, it is an emotion that he had never considered so far, but dang! the lady was a priceless thorn to his flesh.
When she stopped, Lucas wanted to mark her as his, but he couldn't, he just didn't want to.
"You should be going now," he said and then, disappeared before she knew it.
She had taken a few steps into the bright light and had turned to wave him goodbye, but discovered that the stranger alpha had gone back.
Kimberly stood for a while staring into the pitch darkness wondering if he was hiding in the words or could see her, that might be weird though, but what can she say do? she wondered as she hurried through the rear stairs she had taken as a route to the forest.
It was hard to forget what had happened in the forests now that she was saved. Kimberly knew she wasn't dreaming, it was far beyond a dream, it was a reality, she had kissed the alpha, he had smelled good, and his manly fresh cologne had waffled her nostrils.
Taking a deep breath, she walked towards her computer, and removing the key from her computer, she knew there was only one way to know if her adventure was a worthwhile one.
"Please, let it not be a dream," Kimberly begged silently.
It was awkward saying those lines out loud, but a deep part of her wanted her to know the alpha was real, she needed it as much as to stay sane.
Working on connecting the files, Kimberly connected the images of the day, they were a lot of pictures from when she had started her journey till now, and then, a few were of the hotel she was spending a night in.
Kimberly scrolled down her heart pounding in her chest until it turned pitch black, the pictures she had taken in the forest before she had stumbled on the pack meeting were there, she went father to the bottom line of the page and she gasped.
It was the pictures she had taken of the meeting. Two were blurred, but one was clear, as clear as it could be, and there was the alpha of the small pack, his face a handsome shade filled with mysteries. The other members' faces were turned back from the camera.
"Holy shit! it is real, Kimberly, nothing was a dream," she let out silently to herself.
