Chapter 7

"Logan, what are you doing?" Ashley asked with her heartbeat skyrocketing.

"Can you please listen to me?" He said as she went around the table, to cover the distance between them using his height as an advantage as he held on to her.

"We can have this conversation if you let go of my hands," she started to act defensively.

"I am sorry, I sent the wrong message." Logan left her hands.

"So... what is wrong this time around?"

"Nothing," he answered.

"Okay, I will take my leave," she grabbed onto her bag and began to move towards the door.

"Ashley I want you in my life. I do not know why you hate me but I do want you." Ashley stopped by the door, turned back, and looked at Logan.

"That is what everyone says until reality kicks in," Ashley said. "So let me save you the trouble by not starting what you can't finish." She added with a stern face.

"Then at least it will be a memorable journey," he smiled.

"I do not have the energy to start another failed journey," she released a huge sigh.

"What makes you think it is going to be a failed journey?" Logan had already moved close to Ashley at the other door.

"Because that is what falling in love means, seeing someone that is single and wondering why the person is single, and you love them or make them believe you love them until they let you see the broken version of themselves after then you opt and leave. Leaving them broken beyond redemption. When they start to heal another person walks in their life and repeats the process over and over again." Ashley realized she had said enough, it all felt like she was projecting at some point.

"This seems personal."

"Of course it is personal and here you are, trying to break me again."

"But I do not know you and you wouldn't even give me the chance to."

"Because knowing me is irrelevant."

"Can you please have a seat?" Logan pleaded as he showed her the navy blue sofa that was by another section of his office.

"It's getting late," Ashley said as she looked at her golden wristwatch.

"I know, please just seat." she had never seen this side of him. Though she had made up her mind, Ashley decided to hear Logan out.

With a resigned sigh, she finally sat. "Okay."

"We have all been hurt, I do not know your story but I can tell you mine if you want or I could skip the whole story and tell you the lesson from my story. I know you don't have time so I will be more precise," Logan sat down on the same sofa and continued. "My story is a pathetic one, she left me when I was at my lowest after I had an accident and almost lost my life, my only regret was that I sometimes held back my love for her, I wished I had loved her entirely with my body and soul and maybe just maybe I will cherish the memory more. Ashley this is me saying this to you, I know I haven't known you enough to say that I love you, but with the little that I have known, I am certain when I say I want you in my life and I am positive it could work between us." Logan wanted to hold her hands desperately but at the same time, he did not want her to flare up.

"Let me tell you my broken story, I am certain you wouldn't want me any longer."

"Try me," he said confidently. Ashley had her hopes high that Logan wasn't going to care for her even for a bit after hearing her pathetic story, she decided to offload everything to the handsome young man that sat on the same sofa with her. Amidst a bunch of broken relationships with men; hybrids, werewolves, vampires, witches, and humans, she had once a fling with one of the species, but she focused on her last and most painful one, the funny part about the whole story was they never admitted they were dating, but they had some fun together. She even told Logan about how they were once in a gangbang with Andrew, and how they had made love passionately with four other friends.

Ashley told Logan about the final day when she had risked everything and went into the Vampires territory just to confess her love to him for she was tired of waiting on him to make the first move. Her actions brought humiliation to her, she told Logan everything down to the interview being her going. back to work card. Logan sat there speechless not knowing what to say, not because of her pathetic story but for the strength she wielded after every trauma she had undergone in this thing called love.

"Wow," he said in awe.

"Is that all you have to say?"

"I want to hold you and tell you everything is okay, I want to take that piece of your heart that is broken and love it with everything my heart has to offer, for you deserve it. Please give me a chance..."

"Logan, it seems you did not comprehend everything that I said,"

Ashley stood up from the sofa "I am done giving chances." She walked out of the office.

"Ashley!" he continued to scream her name until she was out of sight. Logan wanted to chase her down and hold her tight until she began to smell like him. But something repelled his hybrid; she has been broken, what will happen if his family found out he was in love with a human, his plan initially was to keep her a secret but now how far a secret could he keep Ashley, what happens if he wants to marry her? He felt she was the one for him but is she worth all the obstacles of being with a human? Logan was not sure at the moment and wasn't ready to hurt her anymore.

"Give it time." He knew who that was, it was his hybrid.

"I am trying."

"We wait, " with that, he could sense his hybrid succumbing.
