Chapter 9

"How cruel could this world be?" Logan hasn't been able to sleep all night, and now the sun had finally risen from the east, he wondered how Ashley was doing, he contemplated calling her and letting her know how he felt about her, he wanted to reveal to her that he had spent all night thinking about their situation, though he did not see light at the end of the tunnel.

He believed with her by his side, the journey would be full of light. Logan wanted Ashley so bad that he was willing to throw away everything his family had stood against, like a hybrid being together with a human. He was certain that everyone who loved, respected, and looked up to him in his clan would hate him if they found out that he thought about giving a human his heart.

Logan smiled at the thought. The situation had passed thinking about the situation because he was ready to take the risk for his happiness.

"Hello, Tyler." Logan picked up his phone which was chiming nonstop.

"Hey, dude, I haven't seen you in a minute. This clan has got you covered in loads of work," said the husky voice from the other end of the phone.

"Yeah, I am tired of being an adult. The responsibilities latched onto my shoulders might drown me."

"Whoa, chill soldier. You won't lift a load you can't handle."

"Thanks for believing in me."

"Anytime, brother. Where are you?" Tyler asked.

"At the penthouse. You coming over ?"

"Yeah, I am already on my way."

"How did you get up this early," Logan asked perplexed.

"Dude, it's past eleven," Logan removed the phone from his ear to affirm his best friend had spoken the truth.

"Damn! I overslept," Logan tried to wipe the sleep off his eyes.

"Any woman over there?"

"You know, I don't get high on my drugs. It's bad for business."

"True talk. See you soon then." Tyler uttered and ended the call.

Soon the guys were in Logan's man cave playing fortnight, and the sound of guns being fired was all over, there was a common rule between the two guys; never talk about any of your troubles in the man cave, but Logan was about to break the rule.

"Something has been troubling me," he said after he had paused the game.

"You are about to break the rule Logan, you know the penalty. Is it worth the fine?" Tyler asked, rubbing his hand over his curly hair. Logan knew the penalty would be to give Tyler his credit card for a week, was she worth the risk?

"It's a human woman problem. I am stuck, I am in love with her and I do not want to throw all my family's legacies out the window, you know how messed up it will be if the clan finds out I am in love with a human. Did I think about keeping it a secret but then for how long? I am stuck in the middle, this woman has been through a lot she doesn't deserve to get her heart broken another time." Tyler stretched out his hands, Logan removed the cards from his pocket and placed them on the stretched hand.

"The password is 2859, you idiot!"

"I am aware!" Tyler rolled his eyes and put the card into his back pocket. He asked the hybrid. "Are you in love with her out of pity or do you truly love her?"

"Ehm..." Logan paused for he had never waited to think about why he loved her but he was certain it wasn't out of pity, he felt safe and happy with her.

"I do not love her out of pity, I love her for who she is and I want to grow old with her." Tyler placed his pardon on the table that stood between them and the huge television.

"I am the wrong person to give anyone relationship advice, fuck I was in the bed of a married woman last night and that was why I did not come over, but there is one thing I will tell you," Tyler placed his legs on the table in front of him. "Follow your heart, buddy but you must know that everything is at stake and think about the people that will hate you for it; your mother, your siblings, and the entire hybrid clan that handed the baton of leadership to you. They gave you the wheels to steer them to greatness and as we can boldly see, this might be a risk but then you shouldn't judge a man for the person this coward heart chooses to love."

"Wow. You idiot! When did you ever become this smart?"

"Last night," Tyler smirked, "I know if I say you should go for her or not, you will end up doing what you want, so right now I will tell you to do what your heart chooses." Tyler parted the back of his friend.

"But do you think she is worth the trouble?" Logan asked.

"I believe you are in a better position to answer that question," Tyler said. "I will never understand you though," he added.

"Why?" Logan asked as he folded his long legs the only difference was unlike the Arabians that sat on a mat, he was on the second cushioned chair in the man cave.

"You can have any hybrid or werewolf or vampire you choose to have. Why settle for a human?" Tyler asked.

"I wish I have an answer to this question, my friend."

"If you choose her, just be ready to face the consequences."

"I will adequately put that into consideration," Logan uttered, feeling a little happier than he was before Tyler had come over.

"Can we go back to the game now?"

"Sure." Tyler picked up his pad as Logan pressed play.

A few hours into the game, Logan's phone rang, as he peeped he saw it was his assistant at the hospital.

"Hello, Anita."

"Sir the reporter from yesterday just stopped over, she handed me a copy of the Johnson's Daily Magazine."

"Where is she?"

"She left as soon as she found out you were not around."

"Alright, thank you."
