Chapter Seven: Don't Betray Him.
Chapter Seven: Don't Betray Him.
HEARING that from the royal council like Arnold Brenner, she knows that something is going on. Shiloh felt guilty that she was drinking the medicine that was given by the Lycan who kept on coming by her room.
Holding the small bottle that contains the red liquid of medicine that she has been taking for almost a month, she put it inside the cabinet, behind the soaps that were stocked inside it. She sighed and then looked into her reflection in the mirror. In the past three weeks of her stay here in the palace, the King never hurt her physically aside from the fact that he has been having sex with her almost every night… In fact, she has started to like what they were doing and the King wasn’t forcing himself now. Maybe he was really desperate, because of how the royal council kept on bugging him to have a child… there was no point in drinking the medicine because if ever she leaves this palace, there be no hope for her anymore…
A knock made her back to her senses. “Who was it?”
“What are you doing there? Hurry, the maidservants are here to assist you. The party will start soon,” the King said from behind the bathroom door.
“Alright,” she replied.
Not that long, she opened the door and was surprised when she saw the King hovering over the door. His brows arched when he saw her.
“What did you do inside?” he asked, suspicious.
“I took a dump. What else would I do?”
His eyes squinted as if he wasn’t satisfied by her answer. “You’re not doing something behind me, right?”
Her heart pounds faster, and she started to get nervous but she stayed still and acted like she wasn’t hiding anything.
“I… I’m not.”
The King nodded. “That’s good, then. You need to prepare for tonight’s ball. We will be having an engagement party. Your mother and your oldest brother will come tonight, make sure you’ll not be too obvious that you missed them.”
After saying those, the King turned his back to her and the four maidservants went inside her room. This was it again, they were going to bath her again like they were going to rip her skin off just to make sure that she’s clean!

THE night was so grand. Everyone inside the hall of the palace is wearing their best ball gowns and suits, hoping that tonight, they will also get to meet the person to marry. This was the most-awaited engagement party of King Alpha Loki Roosevelt and Shiloh Harding. The expensive chandeliers are lighting the hall, and the tables are arranged significantly. No one could ever arrange a party like this aside from King Alpha. It was very expensive!
“Congratulations on your engagement, King, we sincerely hope that it will be your last.” The Alpha from East Verlice pack said after greeting them.
Shiloh was holding the King’s arms while everyone greeted them. It seemed like everyone knew that the King kept on changing his wife.
“I hope so. I have a feeling that Shiloh will give me a son,” he replied, smiling.
Shiloh swallowed the lump on her throat. She wasn't sure if not taking the medicine would get her pregnant. She was hoping that the King would successfully get her pregnant but at the same time, she was afraid. Getting pregnant wasn't in her mind until last month…
“We will pray for you, King,” the East Alpha said.
Every guest that they encounter, they would greet them. Until the dance has started. When the melody of the music started, the single ladies went to the dance floor and waited for the gentlemen to take their hands.
Shiloh smiled while looking at them. She thought she wouldn’t experience a ball like this again… since their father died.
“May I have this dance, my future Queen?”
She shifted her attention to the King beside her. He held his hand to her that she gladly accepted. To be honest, she’s nervous. Although it wasn't the first time that she danced with the King, she’s always uncomfortable. She doesn't know, but there’s something that kept bothering her—that is her strange feelings towards the King.
As soon as they walked through the platform, everyone on the dance floor gave way to them and a round of applause. It was overwhelming…
It wasn't the first time that they danced together but for Shiloh, this was different among their first dances. The way his fingers slipped through her waist, the way he held her hand and entwined their fingers, it sent bolts of electricity through her body. Their spins, their dance through the melody of music, it’s a dance to remember.
King Alpha Loki’s dark forest eyes were locked through her eyes, making her see how gorgeous he was. The waltz that they were dancing made more special than the first waltz they’ve shared.
Until the music ended, Shiloh split her legs and the King supported her back with his arms. As soon as they got up, the King kissed her right on her lips that made noise to the crowd.
She was surprised, at the same time, she finally realized the reason why she’s feeling strange towards the King…
It was all because he was her mate. The reason why her wolf came out, the reason why she can smell his sweet smell, a strange feelings towards him…
When the King withdrew from the kiss, she lifted up her head to see his dark forest eyes. She was sure now… why does it have to be him? If she didn’t give him a child, he would eventually reject her.
After their dance, Beta Lincoln came to the King, and whispered something. The King lifted his head to Shiloh then hold her hand to guide her in the near table. When she finally sat down on the chair, the King didn’t take the other seat.
“Wait for me here, I have to do something.”
She nodded and let him go with the Beta. While watching the young ladies and gentlemen dancing on the dance floor, an elegant woman sat in front of her. The woman looked familiar but then she couldn’t figure out where she saw her.
“I’m the former Queen Aleeza.”
Her lips pursed then she realizes that the other guests are looking at them, seemed like they were gossiping over them.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” she replied.
The former Queen was beautiful and elegant. Compared to her, she’s nothing but a piece of trash. Her heart was beating so fast while looking at her.
“The King isn't that bad, it’s just that he was lonely. I sincerely hope that you’ll bear a child,” she said. But what confused her was Aleeza’s last words before she leave. “And don’t betray him.”
