Chapter 2: Depression and Escape

TEARS freely cascading down the moment Adhara awakens. It has been three days since the first time she was here. She keeps having nightmares from the incident and often wakes up crying. Most of the time, she spent staring at the void, feeling empty at all. The trauma she got was rooted so deep.

Adhara rises from the bed, though still being tied. She’s thirsty yet has no appetite to eat. There’s a lot in her mind that her hunger can’t satisfy. Images of her helpless parents who was murdered were still vivid as that day, in addition, her twin also keeps appearing in her dreams.

‘I’m all alone now… why am I still alive? Why didn’t you just take me with them? What am I gonna do here?’

There is nothing left with Adhara, she lost her twin, her family and everyone in the Citadel. She laid down again, her body feels heavy and her head still hurts from time to time.

She planned to sleep again and hoped to never wake up anymore when the door opened and it revealed Thiltran in his usual white shirt and pants holding a tray of food. Though the aroma was hovering in the room, she didn’t even bother to look at it.

Adhara hurriedly curled up, facing the wall. The noise of utensils clanks yet she did not even budge an inch. She decided to refuse everything because she sees no reason to continue to live at all. Eating is for those striving to live, and for her she does not bother to try surviving. Her life ended as the reason to live has died. It's pointless.

THILTRAN, without knocking, made his way inside the room where he sheltered Adhara. He saw a glimpse of her facing the opposite side. He sighs inaudibly.

The man intentionally made the tray clamor a bit louder because of the lady’s behavior. His head tilted sideways.

‘Ah, such stubbornness.’ He snorts at her back before closing some distance between them. He stood beside her bed and from there, he sensed Adhara’s heat.

Thiltran steps back and reaches for the door, upon opening it mystically directs him towards the kitchen.

His mansion was enchanted, it has been located in between spatial and mortal realm. Every door and hallway were like portals, it would take you to different areas as if a maze, to an extent of random places around the world and only the master of the mansion has the authority over where each door will lead him. One moment, Thiltran could be in several countries as he likes. The mansion was specifically built this way by a Meddian.

Meddian is a type of race between worlds. They were the neutral humans.

The Wolves, The Meddians, and The Humans.

Thiltran prepared warm water in a basin with a clean towel and some medicines in one tray. He could explain why but there’s something in Adhara that draws him. He returned to the lady’s room, as usual, he didn't knock.

It was not surprising to find her in the same position when he left and the food was still there. Thiltran placed the tray on the bedside table, he dipped the towel then squeezed the water and without further notice, he started wiping her leg.

Adhara immediately avoided her body when she felt the wet towel.

"Stop what you're doing. I don't need you," Adhara said firmly and didn't even bother to face the young man when she said that.

Instead of following what the woman said, Thiltran continued what he was doing as if he had heard nothing.

"Who are you?" he heard the woman's question again. That question was bold and seemed intimidating. But it had no effect on him. "Why am I here?"

Since it seems that the man had no plan on answering her, Adhara slowly turned to face the man. She felt bad for how she felt but that didn’t stop her from facing the man. Especially if like this it doesn’t answer her queries.

Thiltran still continued to take care of the woman. Good thing Adhara lets him do that. Maybe it's because she does not have the strength to refuse.

The young man remained silent. Until Adhara ran out of patience and asked again. "I said who are you?! Are you a deaf?"

Unable to hold back any longer, Thiltran looked at the woman with emotionless eyes. "Shut up and let me nurse you," he sighed loudly at the woman.

Adhara stopped asking questions when she heard what the man said. She felt frightened when she heard its voice — it seemed frightening, it seemed intimidating and if he ran out of patience with her, she was not sure if she would survive.

It is something she also wants because she doesn't want to live anymore.

When the man finished what he was doing, Adhara just watched him fix the utensils. It was only a matter of time before he left the room where she was staying now. There, she breathed a sigh of relief somehow.

And she bothers with the same questions she has been asking since she stayed here.

What is she doing here?

Why is she here?

Why is the man imprisoning her here?

What is its purpose to her?

Those were the questions in Adhara’s mind but there was only one solution she thought of… that is to escape from here.

Adhara didn't know why she thought of that. But she just felt she needed to do that.

She does not want to stay here. She had to find a way to get out of it. She does not know if the man’s intentions towards her are good or bad but she realizes that her life is still important.

She got up carefully. Although her body hurt, she forced herself to get up. She looked around, hoping she could get out somewhere other than the single door. There was only one window, and it was diminutive. Adhana can not fit in there.

But her decision is final...

"I need to escape," Adhara said persistently while staring sharply at the bedroom door.
