Chapter 5
It was chilly at night. It was the kind of ice that seeped into his bones, as if his heart were a door that had been left wide open to the freezing breeze and had only just been slammed shut before opening once again.
The only option was to keep going and keep looking around until he found her. The ground reflected the rolling blanket of damp ash-colored clouds that covered the sky.
The flashlight on his phone and the full moon were the only things that allowed him to see his way.
Behind the thick trees, he heard a wolf howl, followed by the faint sound of fallen leaves and branches hitting the ground. Ethan quickly turns in apprehension as his stomach fell. His heart seemed to be attempting to escape from his chest as it pounded against it.
Ethan quickly scanned the area in an effort to determine what was in the trees. He was aware that he was not alone; nonetheless, he prayed that it was not a wolf, which was his worst fear.
The sight of what was on the hills made him feel chilly throughout his body and sent a shudder down his spine. There were many wolf-like shapes on the hill's peak. While the rest stumble around, tugging one another, two remain nearly statuesque.
When he realised they hadn't spotted him, he started to gently go back. When he turned around to run, a fierce and enraged werewolf was staring back at him. He muttered, "Damnit," as his heart pounded in his chest. He felt as if his legs were going to give out from fear.
He made a deliberate effort to walk backward before ultimately turning around and running in whatever direction he could find. Just as he turned to see whether the werewolf was following, he started running as quickly as he could. He was unable to see it anymore.
Ethan paused to get some air. But before he could respond, he was thrown to the ground and immediately felt excruciatingly sharp, deep agony in his arm. As he waited for his predator to finish him off, he yelled in anguish while clutching his arm.
His bitten left arm was being torn apart by what felt like a pin. His arm felt as if it were being ripped apart with each pulse.
The only sounds remaining in the night were the cricket and his writhing misery. He faked a groan and slowly opened his eyes. His eyes were bloodshot as he peered about, but he was unable to find what bit him.
It was torment for him to move, but he managed to rise to his feet and carefully made his way home, keeping his steps tiny and steady. The book was long gone and he had long since discarded it.
He eventually made it home after a long, hard trek and was able to ascend the tree to the balcony leading to his room. He was aware that his parents' strict rules and cautions when they first moved into the farm home would not be tolerated if they learned he had slipped into the woods.
Ethan sat momentarily on the side of his bed and let out a quiet groan.
He couldn't tell whether what he saw was a werewolf or an unfamiliar beast, and what he saw was scandalous. It was enormous, and he was certain he saw it stand on two feet before rising to its four legs and charging at him. It was a terrible situation, particularly because he had a significant bite mark on his left arm.
He slowly stood up and made his way into the bathroom to tend to his injuries. He threw the first aid package on the sink and cautiously removed his shirt to examine the cut.
He glanced at the large bite on his left arm and said, "F*ck." His arm not being severed was an anomaly.
Ethan could feel his anxiety level building as he raced through various ways to keep it from his parents. He made it clear that he wasn't going to tell them that he walked into the woods in the middle of the night in search of the girl who had been on his mind for many weeks. He was unable to inform them of the assault by a creature twice his size, which just bit him rather than devouring him.
With a sizable bite in his arm, how was he going to get at work the next day?
Ethan awoke the next morning with a severe headache that made him feel as if his head were about to explode. He rubbed his temple before getting out of bed and sluggishly making his way to the restroom.
He had trouble sleeping last night since he felt as if he was going to die or that his body had gone chilly throughout.
He remembered his life before they came here as he stood in front of his bathroom mirror. It was particularly difficult for him to terminate things with Ashley, his ex-girlfriend who had cheated on him. He was devastated that he had taken a year off from school and may now not finish it.
He intended to create his own business as soon as he had enough money saved to open a candy store and a gift shop since he enjoyed his job at the gift shop he worked at.
Chaos characterised his life before to moving into the farm home. He sometimes felt relieved that they ran out of money, had to sell their home, and had to return to the one they had on the farm. He enjoyed living here, where he quickly found friends who didn't condemn him the way his buddies in Virginia did. Even though he was one of the most well-liked students in high school, it had no significance for him. He was aware that they simply found his attractive face and athletic figure attractive.
Ethan carefully began to pull off the blood-stained bandage while taking a look at it. Before he even felt the pain, he grimaced. He was worried about how things would pan out since he was aware that he need expert medical care.
"Huh," he said in shock. The massive bite he last noticed before threatening the wound was the only scratch on his arm.
Ethan arrived at work one hour later. Parched and scarcely aware of his surroundings. He could hardly focus on what he was doing. His body didn't feel the same as usual.
He was able to clearly hear things he shouldn't have heard. He was able to smell things that he shouldn't have been able to. He had a clearer view of the situation. felt more resilient than before.
“Ethan…”
As he exhaled, he quickly jerked his head towards the direction of terror. Until Logan yelled his name, he was unaware that he was holding his breath.
"Hey there, guy. You've been absent recently. Is everything okay? ", he enquired anxiously.
Logan's concern could be seen in Ethan's eyes. He was aware that he needed to inform someone of what had transpired the previous evening. He could only tell Logan because he trusted him, despite the fact that they had not spoken in a few months.
Hey Logan, I know you're a fanatic for werewolves. Do you have any knowledge of a werewolf biting a person? ”
"Yes, I see. It's easy. It is possible for a person to not transform into a werewolf after being bitten by one. However, if an Alpha bites you, you'll become one of them. I have a tonne of werewolf hypotheses and anecdotes. I am 99.9% knowledgeable about them. When I really get to meet one in person, which is very seldom (0.1 percent),
Ethan said, his chest heaving up and down, "I think a werewolf bit me last night."
Logan gives him a long look. Ethan was just playing a practical joke on him, he thought as he gently laughed. You should not make jokes about werewolves just because some ridiculous myths about them exist in the woods.
"Logan, I have the ability to hear and smell things I shouldn't. The metal barn door was destroyed this morning. My body and I both feel different."
Logan turns back to see that the shoppers were perusing the gift store. He pulled Ethan into the rear room by the wrist.
What specifically are you referring to, Ethan?
”
As perspiration beaded onto his brow, Ethan circled the space back and forth. "I... I met this girl and she dropped her book. For weeks, I searched for her. Last night, I went seeking for her, and something attacked me and bit me. And I'm certain the werewolf that bit me was one. Because the bite was gone when I woke up this morning," Ethan said excitedly, pausing to gauge Logan's response.
Ethan's explanation surprised Logan, and it was too much for him to take in. He hesitated before answering, pausing once more to consider the situation.
"Logan, you need to trust me. Ethan was trembling because he was so terrified of the changes he sensed in himself and the reasons behind them. He doesn't want to accept that he was changing, but everything seemed surreal.
You're a werewolf, dude?

Elise returned the gaze while remaining still. She was on the verge of bursting with the want to kill him. She despised him for many unnamed reasons. She detested his appearance and would never want to be around him.
She detested him, and he could see it in her eyes. He didn't care; after repeatedly being turned down, he still desired her. No matter how many times she would say no to him, he must obtain what he wants.
He exhaled softly before approaching her. Even though it was difficult for him to do, he had to learn to be patient if he wanted her to agree to be his mate. It was difficult for him to pursue a girl since he was accustomed to other ladies fawning over his feet and wanting to be their mate. But this was unique—this is Elise, the goddess of dawn.
No matter how long it took, he would pursue her until she agreed to be with him. He would persuade her till she gave in finally.
She commanded Hunter, "Don't walk another foot closer to me. He looked at her with a little cocked head.
“Why?
”
"Because I don't like you and I never will, and you're encroaching on my turf," she said.
He observed her chamber as he gazed about it. He didn't like the room's decor or the colour she chose. "Your room has to be set up differently. He places his light brown orbs on her, but it won't be of any help as you'll join my pack once you accept his offer.
He receives a deathly stare from her, but he didn't care and continued to go around the room till he found her. "Why won't you agree to marry me? Why, Elise, don't you want to be my mate? You would never find someone like me, in my opinion.
He reached out to touch her, but she batted his hands away. "You and your hubris are a disgrace. I can't believe I ever let you in! Never in my life would I be with someone who killed his wife for his own personal gain.
Unintentionally grabbing her neck, he shoved her into the wall. He wasn't even moving when she had both of her hands on his wrist. He was powerful—more powerful than she likes to think he is. He didn't even appear to notice that he was choking her to death as she begged for oxygen.
"Girl, be careful! You are playing with fire, and if you don't behave, it will burn you. You wouldn't want to include my former Luna in this, that's for sure! Of course I murdered her; she deserved it. Who is going to think that I murdered her when everyone knows that she died after falling over a cliff? ”
His claws were deep in her neck, and she started to roll her eyes back into her head. She was thrown to the ground, and he walked calmly over to the chair in her room.
He observed her as she gasped for breath and coughed. Blood was gushing from her neck. He was aware that she could cure herself. Before he caught a sight of himself in the mirror, he was unaware that he had changed into half his werewolf form.
He swore while rubbing the bridge of his nose. You realise what Elise is putting me through? Never have I ever felt this strongly towards a female! Why don't you realise I want you? She shifted backwards in response to his cries. Elise detested having her weaknesses exposed.
“No! I detest you. And we won't ever mate, I promise! She roared, despite the fact that she was trembling from fright. She sobbed uncontrollably. Is this the person her father wanted to date? A guy who is harming and weakening her?
He wanted her to accept him in this way, right?
Wait till you see what I have saved for you, and then we'll talk about Elise.
He had left.
