CHAPTER SIX

He heard her phone ring and he uncovered her bed. Her phone was there. Something told him that there was something that wasn’t right. Something was totally out of place. He left her room and went back to his. He changed and grabbed a jacket. He went back to her room and sniffed her jacket. His eyes glowed just before dashing out into the darkness to look for her. He tried to call Damian but he wasn’t picking. Alex didn’t know where she was. He didn’t know if she was taken or if she went out on her own will and tracking her scent wasn’t working. He grunted when something hit him. He couldn’t understand why he couldn’t track her.

Something struck him but he brushed off the thought. His sister knew nothing about magic and there was no way she could be under a protection spell. Damian finally returned his calls

He was feeling so out of control. He kept fighting to keep his vampire side in check and his human side in control. Something was wrong. Justin walked into his room and found him on the eighth pack of blood

“Don’t you think you should slow down?” he asked.

“I can’t help it, Justin. It’s like I’m so hungry even after the blood”

“Then try fresh blood” Justin said, rolling up his sleeve.

“I am not going to feed on you. I can barely control this. The last thing I would do is feed on you” Damian protested.

“If you lose control, you would take it out on someone helpless. You don’t have a choice here Damian”

“If I lose control, I can kill you”

“You wouldn’t” Justin assured him.

“How sure can you possibly be?”

“I just don’t think you would” Justin said

Damian was already tired of arguing. The hunger increased. His fangs came out and he sank them into Justin’s wrist. He drank directly from it until Justin started to feel dizzy. Damian noticed that his heartbeat became weaker because he was listening to it. He knew Justin wasn’t going to stop him and the only way to know was to listen to his heartbeat. Once there was a slight change, he was going to stop and he did. He pulled back and gasped like someone who just drank water after a month of being dehydrated. He felt better, he could tell. He looked at Justin who cleaned his wrist.

He and Justin had come a long way. He met Justin when he was just three. Justin was a pure wolf and he was an hybrid. Justin had been a major part of his life ever since. Justin had saved him countless times and the way Damian thought that he could possibly repay him was to have a witch link them together so whenever one was in trouble, the other would be able to tell. However, linking the both of them gave them more that psychic abilities. It gave Justin access to Damian’s abilities like super speed and super strength. As long as Damian was alive and the link wasn’t severed, they were always going to be there for each other.

Although the link didn’t allow to Justin to feel whatever Anna was going through. Only her mate could feel that and that was something he couldn’t share with anybody else. When Justin eventually finds his mate, it’s the same feeling. Only him would feel it, it wouldn’t in any way affect Damian. The feeling was restricted to only him.

Damian looked at his phone and noticed that Alex had been trying to call him. He looked at Justin

“What’s wrong?” Justin asked

“It’s Alex. He called me a couple of times. I would call him back”

“You should. You said you feel funny. What if it’s just a ripple effect of something. What if your girlfriend is the one feeling funny and you’re feeling it?” Justin asked.

“I am about to find out and no, she is not my girlfriend” Damian said as he dialed Alex’s number and put the phone on speaker.

He picked up immediately after the first ring.

“Hey, don’t you think it’s too late for phone calls?” Damian said.

“It is and I am aware that it is and trust me, we both need the beauty sleep but I can’t find Anna. She’s not in the house and I can’t track her scent” Alex said.

“Why can’t you track her scent?”

“I don’t know. It’s like she’s covered or something. The only time I have experienced this was when I was looking for a witch” Alex said.

“Boundary spell” Justin said.

“Who is with you?” Alex asked.

“My best friend. If you’re right then she is probably the reason why I have been feeling so funny all evening”

“Funny? How funny?” Alex asked

“Drained, hungry. I literally fed of Justin” Damian said.

“It’s starting to add up now!” Justin said

“What is starting to add up?” Alex asked, already scared.

“If I’m correct, there’s this spell. It is mostly used on wolves. It basically makes you kill people to activate your wolf curse. The spell can be strong, depends on who casts it”

“I was with her today. There was no way someone could have casted a spell on her and I wouldn’t have known” Alex said

“The spell can be prepared in advance. You don’t need to light up a thousand candles and lay her down in a giant circle for you to cast it. Did you notice anything strange today?”

“I don’t know. There was nothing. We went grocery shopping and she bumped into someone. The person apologized and touched her wrist” Alex said.

“Then?” Damian asked.

“That was all. Although she find complain about the wrist. She said it stung. Wait a moment, how do you know these things? Alex asked.

“I have an history with a witch. More like histories with witches. Can you deserve who you saw?” Justin asked him.

“I don’t know, maybe. She had very black hair. It was pretty long. Waist length, maybe. She had brown hazel eyes and yes. She smelled like dandelions with bananas. Is this even necessary?” Alex asked.

“Yes it is. The person you just described is Carol. She is the daughter of the head of the West side coven back at Cordina” Justin said.

“What is Carol even looking for here?” Damian asked.

“I have no idea. I should be asking you. You’re betrothed to her best friend!” Justin asked.

“I am not. My mother is. She would take care of that crap when I get back to Cordina” Damian yelled.

“Hey! I don’t fucking care who you’re getting married to. We have to find Anna and we have to find her fast” Alex said.

“I don’t think you can. The spell is supposed to keep her untraceable” Justin explained.

“And what is she supposed to be doing till we find her?” Damian asked.

“I don’t know but she would be on a killing spree till then” Justin said

“If she kills anybody, she would activate her wolf curse. If she does, they would know she is alive by the next full moon and they would come for her. The curse is just a little piece of a grand plan” Damian said.

“I have to try to find her before that happens” Alex said as he hung up.

“I have to go. Would you be okay?” Damian asked his best friend.

“I am not letting you go out there alone” Justin said.

“I am not letting you go out there. You’ve done more than enough already. You’re still weak. Get some rest and don’t wait up for me. Head to bed”

“What if you lose control?” Justin asked with worry written all over this face.

“I wouldn’t. I promise. You don’t have to worry about me. I will be fine. Don’t wait up! I mean that” Damian said as he gave him a pat on the shoulder.

He looked back at him one more time before he sped off into the darkness. He didn’t know where to look because he barely knew her. He was going from street to street, hoping he would find her but it was useless. He wasn’t going to give up. He kept looking. He started to look for the most populated places. If he was feeling what she was feeling then she would be hungry. She would want fresh blood and she could only get that where people were. He was about to check places like the available clubs since it was late.

His phone rang. It was Alex. He picked it up.

“Where are you?” Damian asked.

"Behind of Del’ Aviv” he said

Del’ Aviv was a popular club in the area. It was a club for vampires, wolves and humans. They had rules which involved no killing but Damian was pretty sure that Anna had broken every rule in their rule book.

“She is here and she is out of control. Snapping her neck didn’t work. I thought it would put her down temporarily but it didn’t” Alex said.

“It wouldn’t. It’s magic. I’m on my way”

Damian said as he sped to where he was. He found him. She growled at Damian’s presence. They stood on the rooftop of another building, watching her kill and feed in the most brutal of ways.

“We have to put her down” Damian said.

“How?” Alex asked.

Damian brought out a dagger. Alex was ready to protest

“She has killed someone already. It’s just a matter of days before the full moon would resurface. I would put this straight into her heart. It wouldn’t kill her. Just think of it as a temporary sleep until we can break this curse”

“Over my dead body will I let you put a dagger through her chest. What the hell? Why would you think of this?” Alex said, furious.

“How long do you think it would take for someone to find out that she did this? This killing wouldn’t stop. It is so strong. I can feel it. I am fighting to stay in control and I am barely winning. That is exactly why my fangs keep coming out every damn second! You have to listen to me. There is no other way and it wouldn’t kill her. Once we lift the curse, we would remove the dagger and she would wake!” Damian said, trying to be patient with him because he knew that they were running out of time.

The last thing they wanted was Damian going out of control. It was going to be brutal for everybody as he had experience and he was swift with his killing.

“If we don’t put her down, she wouldn’t stop until everything and everybody in her path is dead” Damian added.

“Alright. Let’s say I agree to this ridiculous plan of yours, how are we going to put a dagger in her chest?” Alex asked.

“I guess we would have to fight our way through” Damian said.

He sped down to where Anna was.

“Annabelle, I know you’re in there somewhere. I need you to fight. This isn’t who you are!” he said to her.

That was pointless because immediately he said that, she snapped the neck of the victim she was holding. Alex sped down and went after her. It was going to be one hell of a fight. Alex knew that even as a vampire, she could take him down. The only advantage he had over her was experience. She was faster and stronger than he was. Damian joined in the fight and she fought against two people together. She tossed Alex aside and ran for Damian. She held him by the neck and her fist went into his chest.

He screamed in pain as she squeezed his heart, trying to pull it out. She squeezed harder as she felt the pain too. She let him go and turned to speed away when her brother pushed the dagger into her chest.
