Chapter 2

Although The Mystes, her village, only had a population of two thousand people, it had the potential to easily accommodate at least ten thousand individuals who desired to be part of their small society.

She frequently heard stories from the local elders about how the town had begun as a small commune of only fifty people and had subsequently grown to a hundred until reaching its current population of about two thousand.

There has been a lot of passerby over the years. Several local residents who were born here but later relocated. There have also been people who migrated to this town from another community and settled here permanently. A couple of them had also, at different life points in their life, left the hamlet, but they subsequently returned since they could not think of another place as their home. A few of those who left the community came back when they could, and they all had amazing stories to tell about their time spent in her town, Mystes.

People who came to the Mystes did not just come from this village. People visited from all over the globe and enjoyed lovely staycations in this paradise.

The air in this village is beyond magical. It is so mystical that once people visit, they return back again and again. Whether for professional reasons or to escape their daily existence. Nobody, not even the wealthy elite or the humble commoner, has been able to get away with savoring the contentment this small town offered. The Mystes witnessed everything in concord, from the emergence of plant life to the peaceful death of a person.

Without a doubt, it was unlike any other town one had ever seen, but to have the most wonderful experience, one had been open to the chance of running into the unfathomable.

People who have breathed in the air of this town have the capacity to alter their outlook on humanity, and the community has the power to transform the world.

Heaven existed in the Mystes.

Her town was recognized for its benevolence and pureness. Even though it is compared to being a paradise, it does not mean that it is always blossoming with roses and the musical tune of euphony. However, the tradition has it that it has never known for its longing darkness throughout its existence in this universe.

Dark shadows have occasionally fallen over this town, but they have never lasted for very long. The power of the people's love and unity has rendered them unbreakable, and as a result, they have emerged as victorious warriors.

In a true sense, the Mystes have given Heather a home. It has built her a dwelling that is surrounded by the best natural resources in the form of flora, fauna, and human species.

Apart from what nature has given her, the community has also gifted her with life.

Her red wooden cabin, unlike the homes of the other residents, is modest but adequate. Perfectly sufficient for her. The house where she resides has a sizable living room with a cozy couch, a little table, and a compact bookcase. A medium-sized bedroom with a bathroom is also a feature of her home. The kitchenette in her home was adjacent to the living area, which also had a small sitting space to have a meal. In additament, she has assembled a small garden for herself in the rear of her house, which is embellished with different burgeoning flowers that not only serve her in her day-to-day requirements but also make her residence beautiful.

However, it pales in comparison to the elaborate yard the Oscars have produced for themselves. One cannot help but be envious of them since they live in their own little heaven.

In addendum to everything else, her house is situated in the heart of the Mystes. Aside from being a major coincidence, it makes her accessible to all of her patients in need, who grace their presence when the necessity arises. It was her great fortune that when she arrived in this village, there was this residence bare. The residents here persuaded her to live with them in this house despite her reluctance to accept their kind offers.

But she fell in love with it the moment she laid eyes on it, and all of her neighbors helped her turn this sparse hamlet into a secure home. Residents of Mystes also volunteered to build a small hut for her so she could treat her patients privately and comfortably without compromising the magnitude of her home.

It was no less than a blessing in disguise, as it enabled her to care for folks of all ages when they needed her, which has never brought her more happiness than now.

They sought her for everything from a bit of skin graze to a terrible migraine. She was lucky enough to help everyone, whether it was a concussion or a child's birth.

Although she was not a doctor by trade, the locals thought she was a sorceress. It was the kindness in their heart that they did not designate her as a witch or mastery of witchcraft. When she was able to heal the unthinkable, several outsiders sought to do likewise. But the people of Mystes kept watch over her like a shield.

She never understood how she could cure live beings without recall of past instructions, nor does she entirely understand the extent of her capabilities. She practically had a solution for everything, whether it involved sensitive animals or vulnerable individuals.

It was definitely a wonder that she was able to live a modest life without being exposed to the vulgarity of this world.

Others consider her life to be close to being perfect, if not completely perfect, with all the caring people surrounding her. They were not entirely wrong in some ways, but she suspected something was amiss. There was something crucial she needed to accomplish. There was someone significant who was to be present beside her and walk through the journey alongside her. She was disappointed to find no indication of what or who she was missing.

She endured the relevant sense of longing with a smile because it had become second nature to her. However, her current smile dissolved abruptly into a concerned frown as her feet touched the solid land, making her cycle come to a halt.

She looked around to unravel the reason behind the rapid pounding of her heart when, all of a sudden, everything stopped as she heard a small cry.

'Help.'
