Number5.1

Before Lorelei could even react, Roman had landed a hit on the guest face.

“What’s your deal, man?. Isn’t she just a common slut..” the guests stated holding his face where Roman had hit.

Roman wanted to speak back, but remembered he had made a resolve to act mute again in death pull pack.

“Hey, nigga. I’m talking to you.” He said going to meet Roman with a challenging stance, Roman passed a deadly glare at the guest for diverting his attention away from Lorelei and the guest laughed uncomfortably almost peeing in his pants. Roman would have shove claws in his stomach, if it wasn’t for the fact that he didn’t want Lorelei too witness something so gory.

“Just leave, this is a bar not a slut house.” Lorelei said and shooed him away, it was a normal scenario that occurs in the bar with people thinking all the workers were prostitute and tried harassing them. She had hoped she could find another job elsewhere but she just couldn’t find a well paying job and had to stay and work here for survival.

Lorelei’s eyes were fixated on Roman who just walked in, she could feel her heart palpitating rapidly. When he left, it was like her world came crashing down. Never had she thought that her life would be shaky because of someone’s departure, but Roman proved her wrong. He was mute but they had their own means of communication which made everything unique.

He hadn’t thought twice before hitting that male harassing her, no one had ever stood for her. On regular basis he saved her consistently, always arriving when she was facing danger, like her knight in shining armor.

For some reasons, unknown to her she felt like she could break down just by seeing. His eyes were holding hers in a locked gaze, was he really standing there or he was just a fragment of her imagination that would suddenly disappear with thin air. She really hope he wasn’t.

Staring at Lorelei, made Roman felt an ease he hadn’t felt in a long while. It was like they were in a world of their own and staring at her was a past time in that world.

He didn’t know when he mouthed the word “Mate” even though it was inaudible, it was noticeable by Lorelei because she was staring at him equally.

Mate??

Although Lorelei was a dormant wolf, she used to be a Luna and understood the ways of her kind.

Mate? Like Roman whom she had termed as her best friend, suddenly appears claiming to be her mate. If they were mate, he would feel tingling Sparks and an urge to have carnal pleasures with her during heat period on the full moon. But why didn’t he react to any of this when they spent time together before. Was he hiding it? Many thoughts run through her mind though she knew she couldn’t get answers to all her questions.

He mouthed the word “Mate” again, maybe to clarify her rising doubts of them being mate.

Her eyes widened in surprise, Roman was her mate? Her freaking mate. She couldn’t term it as impossible as it really felt real besides she was wolfless, and as a dormant wolf she couldn’t recognize her mate but she could feel a rising perk of affection she felt for him. At this point she didn’t know what to feel, she was genuinely happy besides being blessed with a fated mate was never easy to come by and Roman was a nice person. She approached him and raised her hands to touch his face but paused midway remembering all the things she had been through. She had sworn not to think about her past time with Damien but she just couldn’t. It wasn’t a marriage of convenience but that of emotions and feelings and it ended with deceit and lies from the ones she called her own. She couldn’t say she was healed, she had temporarily lock her hearts for more than a year but with another male who claimed to be her mate standing her front, she couldn’t help but rewind on her past and opening deep wounds she had thought to heal which didn’t. Now that she was finding bliss with her son Alexander, she didn’t want any form of situation-ship to spoil it. She couldn’t accept this, it wasn’t right at all. Though Roman was all sweet and all but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t switch up on her in the future, their relationship as friends was the bed so far.

Roman anticipated for her hands to reach his face, his body craved for her touch for long and now she was willingly reaching out to touch his face, but she had stopped midway. Her face which glowed with shock and a tint of happiness a few moments ago had instantly turned sad. What was she thinking of now?.

“Roman I can’t do this, I really can’t. A rejection would be best for the both of us.” She said fisting on a handful of her hair.

One moment she was happy about them being mate and now she was trying to reject him. The word “why?” almost slipped out of Roman’s mouth. Fucking acting mute! He cussed in his head.

“Don’t make us elongate the pain, just accept the rejection.” She struggled saying. If it mattered to her, why then was she interested in a rejection.

Roman never in his life thought that his own mate would request for a rejection. He had hoped all his life to meet his fated mate but when he did she was requesting for a damn rejection. Rejection wasn’t even part of the option. He didn’t care whether she was a mother, wolfless or even human, he was ready to never accept her rejection.

“Just nod your head positively and I would know you accept the rejection, okay?.” Lorelei said in a soft voice which Roman would have termed cute if he wasn’t in a pressing issue of being rejected.

He shook his head negatively but Lorelei was determined to make him agree, she held his hands and said “See, I just don’t want to have a name now. I’m not ready, all I care about is Xander and I think I would focus on him more.”

“I, Lorelei rejects….” Roman freed his hands from her hold and took hastened steps out of the bar. Did she really think he would gladly accept her rejection, not when he was not mentally unstable. He could hear Lorelei calling out to him but..

All those time he spent in the dungeon, been tortured by Irene only one person was on his mind and that was Lorelei and now that he met her she was trying to reject him. He couldn’t help but being sober, the pain he felt was almost like his heart was being stabbed endlessly. The mate bond was definitely the worst for making a grown man almost moved to tears.
