CHAPTER 7

CHAPTER SEVEN

Avyanna stayed in her room all day because she wasn't ready to face anyone yet, especially the many overly inquisitive pack members around.

Baron who she wanted to seek an alliance with was just a rumor in her former life, and they had almost no intersection. In this life, Avyanna chose to find another way to live to escape her fate so she reached out to the myth.

“Will this man's existence affect my life?” Avyanna questioned her decision. “Are the Royal Lycans as powerful as they say?”

Avyanna was drowned in her train of thoughts and she wondered, “What will happen if I introduce this Lycan into my life? I hope I don’t regret this.”

Her thoughts trailed.

It wasn't the fact that Nancy was probably going to end up being with Eric that disturbed Avyanna. What disturbed her was that the only plan and hope she had was dashed on the phone call with the Lycan Alpha King. She had been annoyed and she had transferred the aggression on him. She had been hearing rumors about the powerful and caring Lycan Alpha King but the Baron she spoke with didn't seem like the same person that she heard of.

Avyanna had ordered that her food should be brought to her room of which she ate breakfast and lunch. She spent her day reading past histories of different Alphas and Lunas of different territories, hoping to find something in it that would aid her in formulating a new plan. She studied for hours and still couldn't find anything helpful between the pages.

The fruitlessness of her ordeal caused her to slam the book on the ground in frustration.

"Katie." Avyanna called out, hoping for a miracle to happen again. She felt completely helpless and empty without her wolf.

"Katie please I need you!" Still, no response from Katie. Avyanna got scared at the thought of living without her wolf forever. She felt it was the price she had to pay to the Moon Goddess for giving her a second chance, even though the real reason behind her wolf's absence was Nancy. The aconite that Nancy forced down Avyanna's throat in her past life had a poison in it that was meant to make her suffer excruciating pains before she died, but unfortunately it just ended up subduing Katie in the depths of the unknown. The effect of the poison did not even wear off after the times had changed and Avyanna remained oblivious to this.

"What a wasted day." She mumbled silently to herself.

As she mumbled, she heard a knock on the door.

"Who is there? I had mentioned earlier that I do not want to attend to anyone today." She barked.

"Luna Avyanna, it's me Vanessa." Vanessa's voice was mild and tender.

"I want to be alone right now."

"I know you're angry with me but please can I talk to you? We haven't really been on good terms and I don't like the way things are between us."

Avyanna thought about what Vanessa said. It had been this way in her past life, they weren't on talking terms since the Omega came into the pack house, only that Vanessa never came to settle things with her, which is different.

"Fine, you can come in." Avy heaved.

Vanessa held a glass containing a white substance. "I brought this for you." She said as she walked towards Avyanna.

"What's that? Avyanna asked, unmoved by what Vanessa held. She perceived what Vanessa held and figured out it was ice cream. She sniffed deeper from a distance for the slighest proof that it was poisoned. The closer Vanessa got the clearer it was that the ice-cream was devoid of any form of poison.

"Do you remember what we used to call White cream in Highschool?"

"Yeah, you mean the human ice cream?"

"Yes."

"Wait! oh my god, you made ice cream for me." Avy was hesitant before she collected the ice cream from Vanessa. She hesitated because in her past life Vanessa had betrayed her. Avy thought for a moment before she decided to take the ice cream. She accessed the genuine look on Vanessa's face and as the realization of Vanessa's genuineness hit Avyanna, she took the glass from Vanessa and muttered a "thank you," before she gulped all the contents inside her mouth.

When Avyanna was in Highschool, her parents would feed her with both the human's meal and theirs. Mr Windsor had advised her that as a Luna she is supposed to eat all kinds of food asides from meats or Offals. He told her that her ability to eat such things, gave her an advantage to adapt in both the human world and her territory.

When Avyanna had tasted her father's handmade ice cream, she fell in love with ice cream. Mr Windsor had showed her the secret to that perfect taste and she would make her own ice cream in secret everyday.

One day Vanessa had followed her home after school and Avyanna disclosed her tiny recipe to her. Vanessa fell in love with the ice cream after her first taste. They decided to name it "white cream," so it would be their little secret.

"I hope you didn't make this just to bribe me to forgive you." Avyanna said as she handed over the glass to Vanessa.

"Not really. I just wanted to surprise you with something because lately we haven't really spent much time together like usual."

Vanessa understood that Avyanna was not only her best friend but the Luna of their pack and things couldn't be the same way as before because Avyanna had new roles and responsibilities to take care of.

"You really took your time; the taste is perfect I must confess." Avyanna smacked her lips.

"Thank you. I really want to say I'm sorry for what happened yesterday. I really understand how you feel and as your female friend, I should be the first to empathize with you." Vanessa said solemnly.

"I understand. Ericson is your brother so everyone will definitely choose to protect the interest of their family members first. I would have done same if I was in your shoes."

"Avyanna, I want you to understand that you my family and not just my friend." Vanessa sat on the bed as she held Avyanna's hands.

"I know."

At that moment, Avyanna brewed the thought of confiding in Vanessa and entrusting her with the secrets she kept to herself.

"Ericson would not be able to live well with the idea that his mate is out there..." Vanessa began, "and I believe that you will get used to all of this soon because you're stronger than you think."

Avyanna was disappointed in Vanessa all over again but she didn't intend on getting angry again. She was ready to give them what they wanted.

"I will get used to it." Avyanna planted a fake grin on her face which Vanessa failed to decipher its genuineness.

"So why don't we go out and have some fun together?"

"I'm sorry Vanessa, I wish I could but I have a lot on my plate right now to handle."

"I totally get you, it's okay." Vanessa bowed her head in disappointment. Avyanna was less concerned because she was ready to make everyone against her to feel hurt the same way they made her feel.

"I hope you haven't forgetten that tonight we have the Meeting of the Royalties." Avyanna said.

"Damn! I almost forgot. I better go prepare, before my brother will slit my throat for being absent."

"Yeah I need to prepare too because I have to be at the Royal seat before everyone comes in."

"That's true. See you there." Vanessa left Avyanna's room.

Vanessa had convinced Avyanna that she was on her side too. She didn't want to be a bad friend to Avyanna, niether did she want her brother to hate her. A part of her knew that Avyanna was right and Ericson could just reject the Omega and let peace reign, but she knew her brother, he was too stubborn to admit the truth.

The meeting of the Royalties was usually held annually to discuss new things that would be done to favour and benefit the pack members. As the name implied, it was only for officials and royalties of the pack.

Avyanna wore a long red gown that covered her feet and graced the ground, she packed her hair all to the back. She wasn't ready to impress her husband because she was slowly losing regard for him due to the things he had done to her. She knew she would see him again tonight and she wasn't ready.

"At least I won't have to face that asshole, Nancy." Avyanna said to herself as she walked out of her room.

One of the Gammas in the pack was already at the entrance of the large room where the meeting was supposed to hold.

"Greetings my Luna." He said as he opened the door for Avyanna. The room was filled with the officials, not as Avyanna expected. It seemed everyone had it in mind to be punctual as well. But something was distracting everyone to notice that she walked inside the room. As she proceeded further, she noticed the blonde haired Omega she hated the most.

Nancy sat on the chair meant for Luna Avyanna beside her husband Alpha Ericson and immediately she saw Avyanna walking towards her, she fell on her knees and tears dropped from her eyes.

"I beg for mercy my Luna, please don't punish me."

Avyanna suddenly remembered the remorseless manner in which Nancy slit her throat in the past life, and Avyanna was suddenly overwhelmed with a searing anger that was hot enough to burn Ericson with just one stare.

Avyanna subtly breathed in and out, struggling with herself to control her anger but in her mind, she hatched a plan.

She wanted everyone who had a hand in her downfall to pay the price for what she went through!
