CHAPTER 7: PECULIAR

Gabriel's POV

I made my way back to the house with a huge grin on my face. My mom noticed and smiled at me.

"Honey, she's gorgeous and a Sweetheart. I'm happy for you" she said and my smile grew wider. She kissed my cheek and headed upstairs.

I sighed.

I couldn't wait until tomorrow

➰➰➰➰➰➰

"GABRIEL! GAVIN! GET YOUR BUTTS DOWN HERE!" My mother yelled from the kitchen. I groaned by got up none- the-less. You did not want to get Jennifer Green angry. Once you did, all hell would break loose.

I made my way downstairs and found Greyson and Garrett eating their breakfast while my dad was feeding Grant. Mom was at the stove cooking up some pancakes. I sat down and was immediately bombarded with questions.

"GABY! WHEN WILL EVA BE BACK?!" Garrett asked excitedly and Greyson nodded his little head. Even Grant started to giggle at Eva's name. I groaned. Great! Now I'll have to share my mate with the whole family.

"I don't know buddy, it's up to her" I said and he pouted. My mother laughed.

"Garrett, finish your food. It's almost time to go to school" she said and then turned to me. "Now you, eat because you need to leave soon" she said and I nodded my head. Gavin walked in and kissed my mom's cheek before grabbing the pancakes in her hand.

Soon it was time to leave and I felt nervous. Gavin noticed my uneasiness and laughed. I punched his arm hard and he growled. I smirked because now that I found my mate, I was a lot stronger than him. This was one of the perks of the curse. As soon as we find our bonder/mate, our wolf gets stronger because we have to protect them since they're human and vulnerable.

"BRO! I'm sorry for laughing, now STOP freaking hitting me! You're like the hulk now!" He yelled and I rolled my eyes.

"You're so dramatic" I said and he shrugged. I pulled up to the high school and parked.

The bell rang, and I definitely couldn't wait till lunch.

Evangeline's POV

"Eva, honey. It's time for you to wake up now" my mother whispered and I groaned.

"Eva's not here right at the moment, please leave a message at the beep...Beep" I said and she laughed.

"Eva, get up and get ready for school. When your done, can you ask Dorothea if we could use her car?" She asked and I groaned again.

"Why can't you ask her? She hates me?" I asked and she rolled her eyes.

"Stop being a Drama Queen Eva, she's family, she doesn't hate you"

"You sure about that? Because last time I checked, she has not said one nice word to us since we got here?" I said and raised in eyebrow. She tried to deny my theory but I sighed. "I'm sorry mom, I'll ask the crazy old bat" I said and she laughed before giving me a half-hearted glare.

I quickly took a shower and got dressed. Mom said that Dorothea was upstairs so I swallowed my nerves and ventured up to her lair. I was at the top of the stairs when I heard whispering.

I think I'm losing my mind?

The whispering increased when I edged toward the door that was slightly ajar. I peeked in and saw Dorothea pacing around while muttering things out loud.

"Don't you think I know that?" She hissed and I took a step back. Who the Hell was she talking too? "Yes, Devina, I do realize how much time we have left" she paused and I held my breath. She really was a crazy old bat. "I'm trying here!" She snapped. "How were we suppose to know that Delilah would betray us?" I shifted my feet and the floors creaked. Her whispering stopped so I built up my courage and knocked on her door hesitantly.

"Dorothea? I was just wondering if my Mom could borrow the car?" I asked and she scowled at me through the open creak.

"Fine, whatever. Take it" she said and then slammed her door in my face. I rolled my eyes and made my way downstairs. Who the Hell were Devina and Delilah? And why was Dorothea talking to herself?

➰➰➰➰➰➰

"How'd it go Sweetie?" Mom asked and I shrugged.

"Exactly how I'd expect it too. I asked to borrow her car and she said yes before slamming the door in my face" I said and my mom frowned. I don't know what she expected, but if she thought that Dorothea was going to welcome us with open arms, then she was clearly delusional.

"Okay, Sweetie, let's get you to school" she said and I nodded.

"Mom?"

"Yes Sweetie?"

"How long until we get our own car and move out of that crazy bat's house?" I asked and she was quiet for a minute.

"Um...I don't know Sweetie, maybe a couple more months?" She said and I groaned. "It's not that bad Eva, I will have a car by next week though!" She said excitedly and I couldn't help but laugh.

"At least that's a step up from using her car!" I said and she laughed. We pulled up to the High School and I became extremely nervous. Mom seemed oblivious though. She kissed my forehead and handed me some lunch money before driving away.

The bell rang, and I quickly made my way to class.

➰➰➰➰➰

Lunch came faster than I thought and suddenly I was standing in the cafeteria line. I quickly grabbed what I needed for lunch and paid. I was standing in the middle of the cafeteria, biting my lip, while looking for Gabriel and his friends. I sighed in relief when I saw him stand up and smile at me. I quickly made my way to his table and he pulled out a seat for me. I blushed when I realized that all his friends were watching.

"Guys, this is my friend Eva. Eva these are my friends" he said while staring to introduce me to them. "This is Sebastian and his girlfriend Casey" Gabriel said while pointing to a blonde hair boy with hazel eyes and a girl with straight jet-black hair and brown eyes. They both smiled at me and I waved back shyly at them. "This is Logan and his brother Reese" he said while pointing to two muscular guys with brown hair and grey eyes. Twins. "You already know my annoying brother" he said and Gavin gasped dramatically.

"I am NOT annoying" Gavin said and the twins snorted. I giggled and Gabriel grinned.

"Sure you're not" Gabriel said and then pointed to the last boy who was staring at me. "And finally, this is Theo" he said and I nodded my head before giving him a polite smile. He nodded his head and began eating his food. Gabriel frowned but didn't comment on his friend's behavior. He slid a chair next to me so close that our thighs were touching. I blushed a little and prayed that no one saw. The table was quiet until Gavin spoke up.

"Nice beanie, Wifey" he said grinning. I rolled my eyes and laughed.

"Don't hate, just appreciate" I said and the whole table laughed. Gavin snorted.

"Whatever, I could so rock that beanie better than you" he said in a high pitched girly voice. I laughed.

"By all means!" I said while handing him my beanie. He took it from me and put it on. He then turned to Gabriel and fluttered his eyelashes. I rolled my eyes.

"How do I look Gaby!" He said and I was laughing so hard that I leaned into Gabriel. He rubbed my back in a soothing motion while I tried to get my hysterics under control.

"Like a Idiot" Gabriel muttered which caused the twins to snort in agreement. Everyone laughed and I couldn't help the smile that spread on my face. These people made me feel wanted. Something I haven't felt in a long time.

After the little beanie incident, Casey started asking me questions about my life. When I told her that I loved shopping, she squealed so loud that it caused all of us to temporarily lose our hearing. She made me promise her that I would take her shopping with me the next time I went. I was acutely aware that Gabriel wrapped his arm all the way around my waist and pulled me slightly into him. I felt the blush that started to creep up my neck. Gavin noticed and smirked in our direction.

"Gabriel, it looks like you're having quite the effect on little miss wifey over there" he said and I blushed red. Gabriel snapped his head to mine and narrowed his eyes to my face, then to his arm around my waist. I heard a deep rumbling and purring sound come from his chest and my eyes widened. Gavin's did too. The others seemed oblivious.

"What was that?" I asked quietly and he looked nervous. Suddenly Gavin spoke up quickly.

"It's just his stomach. It's always like that when he's hungry" Gavin said and Gabriel nodded his head fast. A little to fast if you ask me.

The bell rang and Gabriel ran out of the cafeteria. Gavin laughed and turned to me.

"Sorry Eva, he's just really embarrassed"

"It's okay, I would be too if my stomach growled that loudly" I said, still a little unconvinced that it was just his stomach that caused that purring sound. I let it go though.

"Anyway, Garrett and Greyson want to know if you'll come over today?" He asked and I nodded my head.

"Okay, I will if you guys want me" I said and he rolled his eyes

"Eva, you're practically family. Mom adores you, Dad thinks of you as his daughter already and my brothers love you! Especially Gabriel!" He sang the last part and I blushed.

"Yeah, right" I said "but I gladly come over. I miss your family already. Especially those two little rascals" I said and he laughed. He gave me a quick hug before we went our separate ways.

I couldn't help but replay Gavin's words in my head.

'My brothers love you! Especially Gabriel'
