LISTEN TO ME IF YOU WANT TO STAY ALIVE
Licia had been in the room for a while, and she knew what they were talking about. But now she was suddenly dragged into this and they were plotting to push her into that hellhole instead of Anna. What was she going to do now?
"Stay in the monastery with this slave girl for a week," Alpha Gray commanded, "and teach her the etiquette of the Alpha clan. A week later, we shall dress her up as Anna and send her to Enrique."
Luna Gray, who had been listening to her husband's plan, questioned, "But, honey, isn't that a bit dangerous? We will be in grave trouble if we are found out."
Alpha Gray thought about it for a while, realizing that his wife was right. "We will pretend as if Anna has fallen ill from a severe disease and we sent this maid to deliver the news. But instead of doing that, she took 'advantage' of the situation to marry Enrique and rise in rank. And if she tries to run and reveal our secret, we might find someone to kill her off."
Licia listened to all of this, unable to believe how heartless they were. Her life was at stake, but it didn't seem to matter to them at all. However, as a mere slave in the household, she couldn't speak up for herself.
Anna scanned Licia from head to toe before a smile broke out on her lips. "Leave her to me, Father. We have no time. I must start my lessons soon."
Slash! A sharp cut from a leather belt was given to Licia's hand as she reached for food. Anna screamed, "Fool! How many times have I told you not to lunge at the food as if you're seeing it for the first time? Are you a pig? No, you're worse than that. Pigs are far more cultured and mannered than you."
Licia rubbed her hand to ease the pain while her wolf, Bree, growled in anger within her. But there was nothing she could do. She had been lashed many times in this house, so it didn't make much of an impact on Licia.
Anna then screamed, "And don't look around like that. An Alpha's daughter would never pay attention to what others say or think."
Licia hung her head, knowing that no matter what she said, she would still be scolded.
Seeing that Licia was sitting on her chair, not moving, Anna rolled her eyes. She leaned forward and whispered to her, "Think about it. Who will be in trouble if you're found out?"
"It's no one else but you!"
"We'll escape by saying that we sent you as a messenger, but you nabbed the opportunity out of greediness and deceived that lowlife. He won't even think twice before his wolf rips you into shreds." She stopped there and enunciated every single word, "So if you want to stay alive, you better listen to me and act accordingly."
"Also, even though he's an Omega, he still holds the Alpha title of the strongest pack in our kingdom. It's a great opportunity for you to marry into a higher rank and live a better life. Do you really want to remain an Omega slave and get harassed by Epsilons every night?" Anna's words hit Licia like a ton of bricks, and her hand clenched the fork tighter.
She realized Anna was right. She was already living in a hellish situation, so marrying this Alpha might offer her a way out. But would she be exchanging one hell for another?
As the thought flashed through her mind, Licia took a deep breath and began to eat her food elegantly, much to Anna's satisfaction. She knew she could calm down if Anna explained the situation to her like this.
Licia walked over to the mirror and gazed at her reflection. She had applied salve patches all over her face to make herself look ill. She had even given her wolf some herbs to weaken it to the point where it couldn't transform. She was determined to leave no room for mistakes!
