Chapter Six

Lucas

Lukas had spent the entire day in a state of gently simmering rage, everyone who interacted with him noticed this and it made everyone wary of him.

He could have gotten away earlier but he half hoped that if he ignored it long enough he would come back to his suite to find it empty. And find that his mate was still at large and definitely not a… human.

‘Was fate playing a sick joke on him? Because he didn’t find this funny…’

It wasn’t a joke though because the moment he stepped into his suite, his Fated mate was waiting for him and not just that, he was also irrevocably drawn to her.

It was likely hating a particular food enough to be allergic to it and waking up with a craving for that particular food, it felt like hell.

So there were two emotions warring inside of Lukas as Claire fell to the bed because of him. The fear in her eyes whenever she looked at him was both maddening and satisfying, it drove him crazy.

He roughly grabbed her jaw, mentally noting how soft her skin was. “Do you have any idea how disappointing you are to me?” He said coldly.

Tears sprang up in Claire’s eyes, her lower lip wobbling slightly. “Then let me go, p-please.” Her voice shook as she spoke and Lukas couldn’t tell if it was from tears or fear.

“And set you free from the torment that your existence brings me?” His grip tightened on her face, his fingers were sure to leave marks afterwards.

Claire unconsciously let out a small sound of discomfort which quickly changed to a short scream when Lukas abruptly ripped the top half of her sweater.

It had a wide neck before but now it was all but falling off her shoulders, baring her collarbones and the mounds of her breasts to his eyes.

She fearfully looked at him and noted that he had that ravenous look in his eyes again, she quickly tried to cover up herself, her lashes getting wet with tears.

Lukas looked remorseless but he let her go and stepped back, adjusting the lapels of his suit jacket. “You will remain here till I return, clean up and change out of the clothes you have on.” He ordered coldly, turning around to leave without another word.

Claire

Claire watched him leave, holding up her torn clothes up with her hand. ‘What exactly had she gotten into?’

It felt like an arranged marriage that was planned solely by Lukas and then he was angry because she turned out to be different from what he hoped. She knew how much he wanted to find his Fated mate but it wasn’t her fault that she wasn’t born a werewolf.

Claire remained on the bed till the door clicked shut, only then did she slowly sit up, the tears in her eyes brimming and spilling down her cheeks.

She was trapped here, Lukas had taken her phone with him so there was no way to contact anyone outside of the room she was currently in. It made her feel so helpless and at Lukas’ mercy.

For the first time, Claire felt regret, she should have insisted on staying away from the resort but her curiosity to see Lukas had brought her here nonetheless. Now that she had seen Lukas, she regretted ever wanting to see him.

What was even more unbelievable than all that had already happened was the fact that although he had done nothing but express his disappointment in her existence, she still wanted him to kiss her.

‘Was this the Fated mate bond at work?’

Because her unexplainable attraction to the man who was supposed to be her true love but treated her like she was less than a human had no other explanation.

She also felt happy that he hadn’t sent her away… Claire suddenly shot to her feet, she was probably starting to go crazy too, just like him. She had to find a way out of here.

She didn’t want any of this, she didn’t want to be married to the American Alpha King, she wanted to go back home and peacefully enjoy her holiday. She would return to college and complete her degree, then settle down with a sweet human man in small town Lockwood.

Claire went to a window and her heart sank to the bottom of her stomach, there was no way she wouldn’t break a couple bones if she jumped from this height.

She stepped back and eyed up the door, wondering if there was a way she could get all the guards to leave the front door at the same time, at least long enough for her to make her escape.

But she couldn’t do that while she was still wearing her torn sweater, they would immediately find her out.

So even though it was the last thing she wanted to do, she got undressed and took a shower. No expenses were spared in the bathrooms and Claire felt like she had gone to a spa when she got out.

The hot water helped to calm her down, so that she could think logically. The plan was to put on the hotel robes, send the guards in charge of her to do several menial tasks and then break away when they weren’t looking.

She had chosen to shower and change out of her clothes to bring their guard down, they wouldn’t be able to guess that she would try to make a run for it.

The silk robes provided by the hotel were inexplicably short, it barely whispered over Claire’s thighs but it would have to do. She was so desperate that she didn’t think about what she would do after she successfully escaped from the room, she just wanted to leave.

She would find someone and ask to make a call, then tell her parents about everything. They loved her, they would definitely do everything in their power to save her.

With her plan sorted out, Claire put it into action. She bravely walked up to the door and tried it, fortunately, it was open but she gave the guards on the other side quite the shock. Especially when they looked at her and saw what she had on.

“Hi.” She smiled with confidence that she wasn't feeling. “I’m hungry, could you get something for me to eat?” Claire looked up at the guard closest to her.

Her hair was slightly damp so she had loosely gathered it up, tendrils of her hair falling over her face and neck.

The guard instantly panicked, looking at his fellow guard and trying to communicate with his eyes. They seemed to reach an agreement though because, he bowed and walked off.

‘Perfect, one down, one more to go.’
