Chapter 5

Hera’s Pov

After school, Makayla and I head for the coffee bookstore where we work after school hours. At the bookstore, my attention was divided between attending to the customers and thinking about the hottie who had almost knocked me to the ground in the school hallway a while ago. His beautiful silver eyes and the way they locked into mine, his broad shoulders and sharp jawlines. He looked like a korean pop singer straight out of the magazines.

At the same time, I wonder if I had spoken too much. I had been so nervous by his hot and intimidating presence that I blurted out whatever came to my mind without thinking over it. Now, thinking back to the things I said to me, I cringe inwardly.

Stupid, stupid mouth!

I am so lost in my own thoughts that I did not take notice of Makayla approaching me. I almost jump out of my skin as she ruffles my hair playfully.

“Argh, come on, Makayla!” I whine but my best friend laughs at me instead.

“What were you thinking about? I have been keeping a close eye on you and can tell that you are bothered over something. So, tell me. What is bothering you, my friend?”

I sigh and shake my head at her.

“It’s nothing.”

“I don't believe you.” She maintains. “I know you too much to tell that there is something bothering you in that overthinking mind of yours.”

“Well, I…” For a moment, I am tempted to tell her about the guy I had met in the hallway but stopped immediately the thoughts crossed my mind. “Just forget about it. It’s nothing serious.”

“Are you in some kind of financial fix? You know, you could always ask me for help if you are stuck.” Makayla still doesn't believe me and persists.

“Come on, Makayla…”

“Last week, I told my parents that I needed a raise in my allowance. I’m going to be in money, Hera. I can help you.”

I sigh and eye her. “You know, sometimes, I wonder what a wealthy billionaire business man’s daughter is doing, working in a bookstore cafe.”

Makayla comes from a wealthy home. Her parents owned major business firms around the country. It was absurd to have her working in a place like this. Most times, she gives her paycheck to me, maintaining she doesn't have anything to do with the money. It was obvious she was only doing this job because I work here too. Makayla is the craziest and loyal friend anybody could ever wish for.

“So, what do you say, my friend?” Makayla wraps her hand over my shoulder and throws me a big, fat smile. “Do you want the money or not?”

“Save it for when we have to spend extravagantly during the field trip.”

“You are no fun.” Makayla lets go of my shoulder and punches me lightly on the arm. I feign a pained groan.

Makayla strides away from me again to pick up the books on the table and arrange it back to the bookshelves.

“Hello, there.” A familiar voice returns my attention to my counter and I raise my hand to our new customer. My heart stops beating for a second as I am greeted by the midnight blue hair and unforgettable silver eyes. Even though his face has a cold expression and he isn't smiling, he looks gorgeous and breathtaking. From the corner of my eyes, I take notice of our female customers oogle at him and whispering amongst themselves.

I wonder if this guy is aware how gorgeous and breathtaking his presence is.

“So…, we meet again.” His words snap me out of my thoughts and I am driven back to reality.

“Yeah. Uh…” Even though I lower my gaze now, I can feel his own gaze pierce through the nape of my neck.

“You work here?” He asks me and I nod my head.

“Yes.”

I finally pull my composure together and raise my head to look at him, slipping on my fake confidence demeanor.

“I would like to take your order now.”

“Iced latte and a velvet cupcake.”

“Noted.” I recorded his order and assigned his table tag to him. “Table six. We will have your order brought to you shortly.”

“Good.” He replies but still remains standing in front of me. I raise my gaze to look at him again. He had a smirk on his face now.

Good god, get this gorgeous ass off my face!

“Who would've thought the rude girl who couldn't stop running her mouth would be the same person serving me in a coffee bookstore.”

I frown at his statement. This asshole hasn't changed a bit. But I manage to keep a straight face again and hold back my hot words. I would hate to be fired from my job because of this good looking brat.

“What?” He still has that annoying smirk on his face. I wish I could hit that stupid smile off his face this instant.

“You can't hit me, nerdy girl. I am a hundred times stronger than you.”

His words cause my eyes to fly wide open. Did he just read my thoughts? How did he do that?

“Nice glasses by the way. Make you look like a sexy nerd.”

He ads before finally turning his back against me and heading towards his table, leaving me in shock.

Makayla rushes to me as soon as he leaves. She is grinning ear to ear and in her gossip girl mode.

“Oh my god! Did I just see you having a conversation with the hot new transfer student?”

Oh, so he is the famously talked about hot transfer student.

“No.” I shake my head, recovering from my shock. I pretend to fix my countertop. “I was just taking his orders.”

“Oh. But he is gorgeous, isn't he?” Makayla eyes him hungrily from where he is seated. She looks like she would consume him any moment from now.

I scrunch up my face in disgust. “Eww. Stop doing that.”

Makayla laughs and gives me a shove before walking back to her counter again. After she leaves, I take over and steal glances at him.

I could swear that hot, gorgeous bastard read my thoughts. I could swear he did.
