Those eyes staring into mine held me captive for so long that I hadn't realized our eyes has locked for two good minutes until I suddenly stare down into my coffee and began adding spoons of sugar inside.
"Hey… " I froze as I felt her fingers on my wrists and when I raise my hand to glare at her, she suddenly shrunk back. "Don't you think you're adding more than required. That's a lot of sugar and… " I was still staring at her. What the fuck? Why was I finding her cute and weirdly attractive? "It's wasteful."
I blinked like I was stunned.
"Excuse me."
"I'm sorry… " she suddenly clasped her hand and bowed like she had said something wrong and I sigh and hold the space between my brows with my fingers.
"Why the fuck are you apologizing?" I wanted to so badly scream at her, yet I couldn't. I was even wondering how I could have found my tongue to say anything after finding out that…
I watched as she meekly sipped her coffee before blowing on it while adjusting her glasses.
Quickly grabbing my cup of coffee off the table, I gulp it all in three gulps and call for the waitress.
As she walked towards our table, I could see Keira giving me a wary stare like she didn't understand why I was acting the way I was.
I couldn't blame her. She was more human than werewolf, how could she possibly realize I was her freaking mate.
This was insane. The moon goddess was insane. Everything about this night was insane. And yet… and yet… staring at her innocent demeanor, how cute she looked with those glasses perched at the bridge of her nose, I couldn't even reject her.
Was I insane?
The waitress came over and I ordered for vodka. She quickly top my order and went away.
The entire time she left, the silence and the tension between I and Keira was so strong that I could cut through with my claws, and yet, I avoided every possible means of making eyes contact with her.
When the waitress arrived, I filled my cup and began taking gulps of it. I could see people taking pictures at all corners. It wasn't because I was drinking- obviously that's not the reason.
It's because I was sitting with a girl who wasn't Sasha. Everyone knew I was dating Sasha, and since Sasha had termed herself as the future Luna, they were all surprised seeing me with Keira.
And I didn't fucking care.
By the time I was half way with the bottle, cursing my bad luck internally for getting a mate like Keira, she suddenly got up.
I could tell she was uneasy about something I couldn't quite pin point, but she was staring down while fiddling with the rope of her hoodie.
"I'll leave now… thank you again." With that, she drops a meagre tip on the table next to her empty cup of coffee and starts leaving.
I quickly got up.
"Keira!" I yelled, but she was already put the door. Shit! How was that brat so damn fast and she was just a latent.
I drop a generous rip on the table and I could see the bulging eyes of my waitress as she approached our table to wipe it.
Just as I left, I could hear her profusely thanking me and also the hushed whispers of people, but that wasn't what was on my mind now.
Finding Keira was easy.. her delicious scent was everywhere. It was intoxicating, and I could almost taste it at the tip of my tongue… and my heart beat kept racing as I got close to her.
"Why did you leave?" I asked her.
She shook her head and hugged herself. Even with the hoodie, I could tell she was feeling cold.
"N- nothing."
Liar.
"I just want to go home." With that, she starts leaving, and for some reason, I went after her again, and when I barred her way once more, I could see the way her eyes widened and the confused look in her eyes as she ran her eyes balls down the length of me before raising it back up to my face.
If only she knew what I was going through because of her.
"Are you seriously going to walk home?"
"It's not a big idea really. I walked here, and I actually enjoy it… I'm fine."
I grimace, seeing the fake smile she was putting on despite the cold.
"I'll drop you off." Four words, and her expression dropped to mortification before she stepped back with her hands raised.
"You really, really don't have to."
"Are you telling me what I should do and what I can't now?"
She shook her head, her eyes wide .
"No.. t- that's not what I meant!"
"Then get in the fucking car and let's go."
"But… "
Wow. How was she so stubborn?!
I hold the bridge of my nose and sighed out loud.
"You'll either get frozen to death walking home in that thin fabric you call a hoodie or you'll become rogue chow." I wanted to smile at the horror in her eyes. "is that what you want?"
She quickly shook her head.
"Get in the car then .. "
She bit her lip like she was contemplating something but I ignore the uneasy feeling I felt as I rounded up my car and went to open the door so I could open hers.
"You can… " I start saying as I raise my head to talk to her, but I don't see anybody. The exact spot where she was standing was empty and her scent was only a lingering scent.
She had run away.
Raiden's POV
I growl angrily, and my wolf rises to the surface when we both realized that at that moment we didn't know where our mate was .
I quickly hop into my car, turn the ignition, and like a mad man, I start driving out the parking lot of the cyber cafe, my eyes furiously searching for her skinny frame at all sides of my car.
