Chapter 2

Amara

“I can’t allow you to risk your life Amara.” Mother says trying to control her tears.

“I know mother but its the only way out. You have to understand.”

“Amara…. Its not going to be easy for you out there. What if something bad happens? You can’t trust the humans out there.” She moves close to where I sat staring at me as tears slide down her cheeks.

I sigh with a nod. “I have to do this for people of Amelia. The amulet needs to get here, I know this is hard for you but mother try to understand please.”

“You’ll be married to the human?.”

My heart skips, almost forgotten about that part of my journey.

“I guess am really destined to do this. I don’t know why the strange man is my soulmate but I promise i’ll bring the amulet back to our kingdom safe.” I held her hands giving her an assuring smile.

She forced a smile and hug me. I know she’s worried am leaving my kingdom to another different world. The place of the humans with no special powers or magic but I have no choice. Am doing this for my home, Amelia.

“I’ll summon Mazu tomorrow to know when you will set out for the journey.”

“Alright mother.” I reply. She kissed my forehead and poofs out of my room through the wall.

..

“Amara…” Someone called behind me. Sounds like Zania, my friend. I turned to see her leaning against the wall.

Zania is my best friend, my only friend since childhood. She’s a bit taller than me, have straight long brown hair, blue eyes and pretty. She has super strength, practice sorcery, she’s really bossy and fun to be with.

“Zania. How did you get in here?.” I ask rhetorically. She hiss giving me an ‘are you okay’ look. I giggle even though I feel sad I won’t get to see her when I leave.

“We’re witches remember?.”

“Don’t mind me. Come here am going to miss you!.” I said moving towards her for a hug.

“Can’t breathe!”

“Oh sorry.” She quickly withdraw and smiled. “Its sad our princess will soon leave us.”

“Yeah it is.”

I exhale deeply sitting on my mat, she squats beside me and faced me. “Don’t you think its strange.”

“What?.” I ask

“You have to unite with the man. Isn’t it odd?.”

“It is. No one knows why, except goddess Alinna.” She nods in agreement and stood up while I remain seated on my mat.

“I have to go now. Mother doesn’t know am out of the house. I wish you well princess.” She smiled.

“Alright bye. See you tomorrow.” She nods. Muttered some words and passed through my wall.

“Am tired.” I lay flat on my mat, wondering how my soulmate will be. Will he be good looking? How did he get the amulet? So many questions! Am just tired of thinking about everything.

“Mīrítø” I say as the light went off. Closed my eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep

“Wake up my child….wake up.” Someone uttered with a gentle tap on my shoulder.

I opened my eyes slowly and sat upright. Its an old beautiful woman, she wore pure white dress, her hair is pretty long to her kneels. Everything she wore sparkles.

“Who are you?” I ask boldly.

She smile. “Your grandmother Alinna.”

“Ēízíllu” I greet quickly with a bow.

“Rise up my child.” I lift up my head and looked at her. “Why are you here goddess?.”

“Am here because I chose you.”

“Why?.”

“Its your destiny.”

“But why do i have to be married to him?.” I queried. She stood up facing her back at me, her long white hair keeps sparkling.

“You two are bonded to be together. You are his protector and the amulet needs to be returned back to Amelia.” She explains.

I stood up and got close to her. “How will I find him?.”

“Take this bracelet. When you see him it will sparkle, then he is the right one and one with the amulet.”

I collect the bracelet with a bow. “Thank you grandmother.”

“I will always protect you. Amelia has your back.” I nod as she disappeared.

I stare at the diamond amulet on my hand. Ever since I found it, good things always happen to me. It seems like the amulet protects me from danger, I feel safe whenever its on my neck.

I remembered the last time I tried taking the amulet off, I nearly got hit by a bus. I was in high school then. Yeah, this amulet has been with me as long as I can remember. I found it in the beech when I went for a vacation in Hawaii with my parents. Dad was alive then.

No matter what happens am not doing away with this strange amulet, its my protector.

“Master your breakfast is served.” A maid said bowing in front of me.

“Alright. I’ll be right there.” I voiced. She bows and leaves.

I sigh, stood up from the couch and head towards the dinning.

Ever since I found my protector, I knew that good thing might happen in life. I am not sure what will happen but in my mind, I feel it can bring me good luck. The amulet must have a good story behind the scene while even if I knew nothing, I feel like knowing everything.
