Chapter 3
She locked the door behind her and sat on the floor crying. She had so many questions with no one to reply.
Three days ago she threw that nonsense away because she was tired of seeing them each time she opened the drawer and it seemed like they were mocking her.
Was she that dirty to him? But he married her a virgin and what hurts her so much he used protection to break her virginity.
She was naive and stupid and followed whatever he said but this time she wanted to feel him but maybe he didn't want the same thing.
She cried herself to sleep On the floor and on walking up she had dark circles around her eyes evidence that she didn't have a good sleep.
She took a shower and applied heavy makeup to hide the dark circles then left for the stables to visit her favorite mare.
It is the only good thing that has happened to her since the day she came into the compound and it was white.
A color that symbolizes peace and it happens to be its typical nature as it was always peaceful and calm.
She was ready to go horse riding when she spotted Tamara running towards the stables. She stopped and waited for her but the mare didn't love her as it started making weird sounds when she got closer.
"Matt," she called one of the guys working in the stables.
"Take her in," she instructed getting down.
They walked to the garden with Tamara.
"You fought with Josh? What did you do?" Tamara asked her burning question and she turned to face her.
Since yesterday, she hasn't spoken to anyone, how did she know they fought? That isn't the problem, who told her it was her (Alma) fault?
Alma's stare made her realize what she just said and she had to think of a way to take back her words.
"Josh called and said you guys fought,"
"And he also told you that I started the fight?" She asked.
"That is not what I meant, I just thought so, after what Erica said yesterday that's all. What happened?" Tamara asked.
"You came all the way here to ask me that? If he told you we fought, you didn't see it fit to ask him? Go and ask him, he can explain better. Don't walk around with assumptions, If you don't have something else to say, I want to ride my horse," Alma said shocking her.
"I guess I came at the wrong time, we will talk later," Tamara muttered and walked away.
Alma went back to the stables and left the compound with the horse. She wanted to forget everything happening in her life and be free so she made sure the horse was on a very high speed that she felt like she was flying in the air.
The horse kept on running and she finally stopped it, she was deep into the woods and didn't know the way back to the mansion.
She checked her trouser pockets only to remember she left her phone back in the house.
She was now stuck in the middle of nowhere with no phone. She was starting to regret going so far from home.
She tied the horse to a tree and sat under a tree opposite it.
"I'm sorry sweetheart but we are lost, let me think if I can recall where we passed then we can go," she told the horse relaxed on the ground fell asleep.
She couldn't tell how long she slept but the noise of her horse making uncomfortable sounds woke her up. She couldn't tell what time it was but she spotted Quincy walking towards them with his horse.
He was surprised to see her here as it was far from her home. What could she be doing here?
"Hey," she greeted nervously.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" He asked calmly.
"I wanted to have fun but unfortunately I got lost," she shrugged.
"Sorry about that, there is a shorter way to your house, I can show you," he offered.
"Thank you so much," she appreciated smiling.
"You were crying?" He asked and she chuckled.
"I was scared, I don't have my phone with me and I didn't know how to go back. I guess that's the reason for the tears but I didn't want to cry. What are you doing here?" She changed the topic.
Heaven knows she can't cry for being stuck here. It's daytime and she was sure she could figure something out before nightfall and she can prefer being stuck here than to go back and meet Josh.
She doesn't feel like seeing his face today.
"My ranch is not far from here so I go riding when I visit. Today I came here and I heard some noises so I decided to come and check," he replied.
"Luck is on my side someone found me, which way do we go?" She asked untying her horse.
Since Josh woke up he hasn't seen his wife and he hasn't had breakfast because he is exclusively made by her.
"Where Is your wife?" His mom asked him as he was heading to the stables to look for her and he didn't have a reply.
There was no way he was telling his mom that, what will she think?
"She went out in the morning but she will be back before you know it. Do you want her to help you with something? I can help," he replied.
"I wanted one of her delicacies, the breakfast served this morning, one could tell she wasn't the cook. She always cooks before leaving, what happened today?"
Abigael has never admitted but the reason she visits every week is to taste her food as she does magic in the kitchen. She can't stoop so low as to ask for her recipes as it isn't in them, Alma will feel so special and grow wings, they still wanted her under control.
"We had a little fight and she was angry that is why she left so early but everything will be fine," he admitted.
"You can't fight with her, you need a child, I need a grandchild for the coming elections. People need to see you as a family man for you to get more votes. You got to do everything possible and impossible to win the elections,"
"You are the one feeding her with these absurd thoughts of having a child. Mom please, leave my marriage alone," he pleaded and walked out on her.
His wife is missing, her friend is making things difficult for him and now his mom. He has a meeting to attend in the office and now time is not on his side.
"Has my wife left already?" He asked one of the men working in the stables.
It's his responsibility to know where his wife was and asking then where she had gone would sound awkward. He had to use another way to find out information from him.
"She left in the morning with the white horse," he replied.
"Ok thank you," he appreciated and left.
He has started getting worried about the whereabouts of his wife. She has been away for so many hours, could she be that she lost her way in the woods?
He dialed her number several times but she didn't pick the phone till he got tired and called the office instead to reschedule the meeting.
He sat on the balcony to wait for his wife.
On arrival, she took the horseback to the stables then headed for the house. She got to the stairs as Abigael was heading downstairs and she stopped.
"I hope you are working on what we talked about, if I had a grandchild I would have sent him to the kitchen with what I will be eating for dinner but now I have to go by myself," Abigael told her.
"I can't have a child on my own, your son doesn't want a child so talk to him first," she told back and ran upstairs.
Abigael was surprised, did they fight because of a child and that is why she talked back at her?
And why is it that Josh doesn't want a child? Does he have a child somewhere? None that she knows of? Why is it so hard for him to understand the push a child will give him in his politics.
They will see him as a responsible and family man and he will be on the same level as his rivals or higher because all of them have families.
She rushed to the balcony to meet Josh immediately, there is no way she is going to take that from Alma.
"Did you send your wife to start talking back at me?" She yelled.
"Mom please, my wife is not around,"
"She came back and the first thing she could think of was talking back at me. Warn her,"
"Did she insult you? If yes what did she say?" Josh asked and she didn't have what to say as Alma didn't insult her, she told her the truth.
