Chapter 4
"Call me when you get home," Quincy had instructed and gave her his card when they got where she could get home without getting lost again.
She typed his contact on her phone when she got to the guest room and dialed it. He picked on the second ring.
"Hello, it's Alma," she introduced herself.
"Hey, you are home already?" He asked.
"Yes, just arrived a few minutes ago. Thank you so much, if not for you, I would still be stuck in the words," she appreciated.
"You are welcome, I now have your contact, I'll call you back later," he promised.
"I'll be waiting," she answered and hung up then dropped on the bed ready to sleep.
Lenox stepped into the house and met his friends all smiles. It's has been a long he has seen him smiling voluntarily.
"What is making you so happy?" He asked seating opposite him.
"I finally got her contact," he responded smiling.
"Who? Do I know her? Can I meet her?" Lenox rushed his questions.
"Alma," he replied.
"Man that girl is married, she is already in so much danger so please, let her be," Lenox pleaded.
"That reminds me, you were supposed to tell me why I have this connection with her. I have tried forgetting her but each time I find a girl and want to do anything, I always see Alma's face in the middle," he changed the topic.
"Four years ago when you were involved in that accident that made you lose your memory, she was the girl that was with you in the car," Lenox explained.
"Who was she to me?" He inquired.
"How I'm I supposed to know? I was only the doctor that treated both of you but in your previous interviews before the accident, you never introduced her or anybody as your girlfriend. She lost her memories as well but she was taken by her mom to a different hospital because they couldn't afford the bill that was pilling up and your dad refused to give a helping hand. I never heard anything about her till that day when she was introduced by Joshua to the country as his wife-to-bee," Lenox explained.
He was with her in the car when he got involved in the accident and the only two people who could tell him the truth are all dead.
His manager who according to reporters was in the car with the, died on the spot and his dad died two years ago.
How on earth is he ever going to find out the truth yet Alma lost her memory as well?
"You don't know anything else?" Quincy questioned.
"Nothing else, we started being friends at the hospital so before that, I don't know a lot about you. You were always secretive,"
"Damn it!" Quincy cursed.
"I try getting her out of my mind but it's just not working. She is stuck in my mind and to be honest I love her and I dream for her, every single day," he admitted.
"It may be a hallucination or maybe you were together in the past. You can try and find out," Lenox suggested.
"Can I have some coffee?" Alma requested the maid who was in the master bedroom when she stepped in.
She walked out of the bedroom and went to check Josh's phone which was on the lamp stand.
She has always known her name as the password but this time around it didn't go through.
"Damn it!" She cursed.
She wanted to confirm if what Erica said not that she believed her, she wanted to prove her wrong.
"If something is going on then maybe he used her name as the password," she thought and chuckled at her thoughts.
How could she even think something like that? They have been friends for three years, Tamara introduced her to dancing, she (Alma) trusts her enough to know that she can't betray her that way.
Despite the argument in her mind, she typed Tamara's names and it went through.
Something must be wrong someone maybe there was a small spelling error somewhere so she locked It and wrote Tamara Eldare.
It was unlocked, she was about to check his texts when she heard footsteps outside. She placed the phone back and laid on the bed covering herself with the duvet pretending to be asleep.
"Baby, where have you been? You made me worried," Josh asked walking to her but she didn't move nor reply.
Josh sighed and sat beside her.
"I'm sorry," he apologized caressing her hair and she sat up immediately.
"Don't touch me, and I don't want to see you so you can leave," she pointed at the door but he didn't stand.
"You leave or I leave?"
"Ok, I'm leaving," he raised his hands in surrender, got up, picked his phone, and headed to the door.
"I love you," she laughed.
"In love with some dirty where you can't stand? Spare me your drama, you don't know what love is. Just leave because you make me feel nauseous" he walked out.
Slowly her self-esteem was dying, she was tired of pretending that everything was fine yet it was far from being fine.
She felt dirty, less of a woman and the only thing she could do was cry. There are some things she wishes to talk about but she is too embarrassed to voice out her sex life.
Will anybody ever understand that she can count how many times she has had sex with her husband.? What they have can't be lovemaking because he uses protection. No matter how hard she tries to raise her head as the First Lady that she is, her subconscious mind keeps reminding her that maybe she is dirty that is why her husband treats her that way.
She quickly wiped her tears when she saw the door opening and started scrolling through her phone.
"Finally, I have found you, can we talk?" Jedidah asked.
"Sure, you can seat," Alma replied.
"How are you?"
"I'm fine, I guess," Alma shrugged.
"I just found out that I'm ten days older than you. I was surprised and happy at the same time," she admitted.
"I hadn't realized yet," Alma replied.
"Since we are age mates, can we be friends, like sisters and not the friendship we have been sharing?" She requested.
"Not a problem,"
"I have been having these personal questions I want to ask you,"
"You can ask me anything,"
"When I first met you, I admired your personality. You were free, jovial, strong, and courageous. Everything changed when you came back from your honeymoon, you became a different person, all the boldness you play now is an act. You are always nervous and it's like you doubt yourself. What happened there? You make me scared of going into marriage,"
"Nothing happened. I'm fine," she smiled.
"My parents said you should have a child before elections but my advice would be, don't try it, unless you want to destroy your life,"
"I don't understand, I would be having your brother's child. You will be an aunt,"
"Let me tell you a bit about us," she started.
"Have you ever asked yourself why my brother is sixteen years older than me?"
"Because we don't share a mom and between us are two other siblings that died," she asked and answered.
"I know I'm boring you, my schoolmates say I talk too much. The last time I was here I wanted to tell you if you want to keep your marriage, keep an eye on your friend. She is too good to be true. She is so close to my brother and it's not healthy for a ma marriage. Don't get pregnant for my brother, I rest my case," Jedidah got up and left the room before she could ask questions leaving her more confused than she was earlier.
Jedidah walked down the stairs only to bump into Tamara who was going upstairs to see Alma.
She got information that Alma was back and she wanted to talk to her.
"Hey," Jedidah called out smiling.
"My sister-in-law told me that you are her best friend, to cut the story short, she has told me so much about you," she added.
"I hope they are good things?"
"Good enough to make me want a friend like you. Can I invite you to the garden for a glass of juice?" Jedidah asked.
"No problem," Tamara didn't have a choice but to accept her offer.
She turned and they all headed outside through the back.
"I need two glasses and juice," Jedidah instructed one of the maids as they went outside.
"Have you ever been to this garden?" Jedidah asked as they sat on the bench.
It was a rhetorical question as Jedidah has seen her there several times with his brother but never with Alma. Or was it a setup? What is her aim for such a question? Tamara didn't know the kind of reply to give her.
